• CS4: Cannot move a layer in a together group layer.

  I created a group of layers in Photoshop CS4. When I select a specific layer within this group to try to move it, I immediately get moved to the folder and the entire group moves - in other words, I can't move that only the specific layer (I have to bring him outside the group to move). I know that wasn't the case in the past and I was wondering what could be the problem. None of the layers are locked. Thanks for any help.

  You have your Move tool set incorrecty

  uitkuijk In your Options bar (at the top of the interface) uncheck the box 'Automatic Selection '. It is more likey causing the behavior you describe.

  For the most part, the work of the drop must also be on 'layer' and not 'group '.

• CS5: Save multiple layer @ once styles?

  I am designing a Web site and I almost ready mainpage. Now I would like to play with the styles of layer a little, especially to change the colors to see which fit best.

  Is there a way to 'save' all of the layer styles at once, preferably in 1 handset "style-icon" so I can switch quickly from this "style template" and the one (s) I am going to create?

  The only way to do it now would be drag layer running all together in 1 card, then duplicate this card (and all layers inside), playing with the colors of the layers in one of these cards, then switch (in) visibility of the cards to see which is better.

  However, it would be much easier (and keep the much smaller photoshop file) if I could just save the styles of layer, at the most, or maybe even in different groups, so that I can see which match whole groups, etc.

  You get what I mean? I can't assume he should be somewhay to that somehow, because I think that a lot of designers would need this sort.

  Go to the layers panel and enregistrer to save on a computer with the selected appearance box, make your changes and then save on another comp.

• Switch Connectivity

  Hey Cisco experts!

  I have a small question, I'm sure you can answer for me. I have installation of the Israeli army for the clients that I questioned how they are physically connected. Connection to the MDF is ok because they use their ports of 10 GB on fiber optics. The question I have is if there are multiple switches in the Israeli army should they be connected to each other using their 10 GB ports from A to B and C and then also to connecting A to C on switch ports? I think it's can cause a loop but wanted expert advice.

  Yes, when you have multiple MDF switches, connect together to provide redundancy of the network.  Of course if you connect to layer-2 switches together, you must run stp or use some other technologies like stack to make it look all MDF has a switch.  There are also VSS for the 6500 that offer the same advantages as the stacking on the 3750 series.  In this way, your don't have to use STP.

• Help with a clipping mask and text!

  

  This was really frustrating me.

  Design of this logo at the mo - the circle is a form and the L is just type on a separate layer on top with the same color as the background. What I want, it's to make the cut in the circle so that it is essentially transparent, where I can place on any color background and L will mix it naturally without color cast of 'L' evolving.

  Any ideas guys? With the help of CS5. I'd appreciate any help.

  One way is to put your text and circle in a layer set, then together the mix Options: custom to zero fill and Knockout at shallow depth.

  The layer that lies directly under the layer group appear throughout the text.

  

• Dynamic resizing of a sprite (image hotspot)

  I have a question about scale dynamically a sprite. I have an application that displays a picture on the screen, and on top of that image, I draw dynamically semi-transparent sprite who act as hot spots for the image under.
  
  I can't understand how to evolve hotspots in proportion to the part of the image that the scales located below. Hotspots extend UIComponent (so I can communicate with them) and they contain a sprite that is the Visual hotspot on the screen (which is good).
  
  The image below is a simple Image. When I resize the image (resizing the window), I would like for the hotspots to stay where they are related to the image.
  
  I tried to create another component, which extends the class Image that attracts all the hot spots and then tried to put it on the top of the image (understand I could put the content of true as the image scale), but had the same results (hot spots were fired, but did not react to the resizing whatsoever).
  
  Should I use the Bitmap class to draw hotspots instead? I have no idea at this point. I'm puzzled. Any guidance would be appreciated. May I approach the evil of all this, I don't know at this point. I hope I explained the problem well enough to get some kind of feedback.

  Hi Amy,

  I thought about it. I kept pounding on your idea of using a canvas on the scale the UIComponents as a group, but it did not work because I have been scaling the canvas based on the properties of the image (the under Layer) that were not resolved (I tried to recover after Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE).

  The solution was to wait for the Event.RENDER shot and then get the dimensions of the image loaded, to understand what is the percentage of the size that the resized image of the original image and then just scale the canvas above this one session to match. Sprinkle in a listener for Event.RESIZE and boom, it works like a champ.

  This method works better than I expected because now it doesn't matter what size of the original image is relative to its container (larger or smaller), it will scale itself and all its layers (layer of canvas) together.

  It seems that several times I'm looking for the right place for my solution (in the API), just at the wrong time (usually too early, before the properties I'm looking are defined).

  For some reason, this doesn't seem to work. The link icon appears between the layer and the mask icon, but when I try to move them around together, either the layer or the mask moves that one I selected.

  I've used it before now, it doesn't seem to work. I'm using CS5.

• How to change the selection mask and layer image together?

  I have a newbie question.

  I have a picture with a layer mask, which is related, as evidenced by the string between the image and the mask. I make a choice and try to apply a scale in free form, but I can only to scale the image or layer mask, not the two together. Don't seem much sense to me, everyone knows the answer?

  You only select the layer and not the layer with mask.

  Try this:

  With nothing selected, select the layer in the layer panel and then free transform.

  This should affect the layer and mask.

  Hey all,.

  I recently had to start using paths clipping for knockouts and the silo. I can't if with moving of the layer that was eliminated and the clipping "corresponds" to this layer.

  I want to know if I can move and size together and all keeping a clipping path? Every time I turn the layer and the mask selected it only affects the clipping path. If I disabled the clipping and transformation, it only affects the layer. Clipping path just stay where he is and I have to move regardless of the layer to realign the it.

  Sometimes I want to redirect the background layer vertical to the diagonal on white, but who will be the unalign of clipping path.

  I found a discussion a while back which was a kind of related to this, but it confused me and doesn't seem to work. Now, I can't find this discussion.

  What I am asking is still possible? Am I am asking a lot and you see is not a workflow I should use?

  The way I do it is to select the background layer, then target and select the path with the path Selection tool and use "Transform" resize/rotate/move in a single operation.

  Select the layer containing the hidden object and its associated layer mask, then use "Turn Again".

  Any changes that you have applied the path must now be applied to the layer and its mask as well.

• Color fill layer together & not object?

  # 2... I assume that the author wants to draw the rectangle rounded path... mode I assume correct? I think it is supposed to be on the path b/c it's the only way the blending Mode reads "Pass Through".

  This tuts steps are not numbered really well, but also under second stage where the "BG" is filled with black, the resulting shape is supposed to look like this:

  Notice how the left has a lighter grey color and one of the tut above is clear? Can someone tell me why this would be?

  Under step 2 #... where it's the part where I am to the color of the shape with a yellow gradient it is also happening to me:

  the whole canvas becomes color...? ?

  Here are the layers panel of the tut that is confusing for me b/c the only difference I see is that the Panel tuts has the arrow down and the record of the top layer / Layer "Body" seems to be grayed out... and the UTU said something like: activate the layer "BG" and cancel the mask view. Well, I have no idea how to go about cancel view mask and I looked everywhere in Ps for this 'action' and also throughout the manual online.

  Yes, there are way to apply the layer mask. Go to the layer/mask/reveal selection menu - which will make the same button. Selection of skin will be 'inverse' only selection and mask making.

  On this selection, probably when you make the path you have opportunity to correct path (for this task). I think that you should have something like this (select the path while now CTRL + left mouse, selection from the corner of a single document through to the other, so sucseed then every path must became black and visible and the option of path of change now to what you see in the picture)

  

  If you make the choice of such path then it should be okay.

  On why Vector mask/mask option for button switches power, maybe you have already a layer mask in this case if you have traced 'activate', you will have the option of vector mask on. If this is so, then remove first layer mask by dragging that mask in the layers panel to the trash icon and press 'delete' (not ' Applay").

  I just spent HOURS trying to this issue, including the chat with HP (useless) search.  Help, please!  (Thanks! 0)

  I'm the only account on my computer, but I have the children/woman/woman of household living with me.  When I connect to my computer at startup, I log in as one user, who IS the administrator... all the same person, me.  Once connected, I can access all my folders, files, and Outlook.  I want to add ANOTHER layer of security to CERTAIN folders of Windows and SOME folders in Outlook.

  I don't want to NOT create new accounts users, etc. as which will not help to solve the problem, I am trying to solve - which is, when I am connected and working, but not away from my computer to answer the door or go to the toilet or to take a phone call - anyone, I don't want passerby (household/child/woman woman) to be able to sit and to access all folders in Windows or some of the folders in Outlook.

  On the contrary, I want to create a secure repository or a 'safe' on my desk where I store some personal records.  Ditto, when outlook is OPEN AND running on my computer already connected, I want to enter a password EVERY time I try and open my 'sent' folder or my 'personal '.

  I tried the whole 'click on the folder' and go to 'Properties' and then select 'Security' and change allow it to deny... but it does not work BECAUSE I AM THE ONLY USER = I am the ADMINISTRATOR.  If I simply create other accounts, that does not solve the problem b/c I still want access to these special folders WHEN I'M LOGGED in I am trying to add a 2nd password or layer of security for ME EVEN when I am logged in, once again, simply to prevent a person from going back up to my computer when I am already connected and able to see everything on my computer or in my outlook.

  Regarding the Outlook, I went and highlighted my personal files and went to the management of the data and settings and added a password, but I think that just put a password on the actual .pst file on the computer, b/c even after I did it and I opened Outlook I could go in any folder I want without having to add the word of past.

  I'm not married to this solution, so if anyone knows a better way to protect my sensitive files on my computer AFTER I've already logged in as me... and walk for a minute or an hour (which may never know how long something will take), I would be grateful.  And Yes, I'm trying to remember to hit 'sleep' whenever my foot, but sometimes I forget and I want just a second layer/password when I am already connected.

• 3850/3750 autonomous or Distribution stacked layer Question

  I have a client with three buildings all very close to the other dorsal 62.5 MM of fibre. They exceeded it current topology and I am trying to implement a distribution layer using a couple of 3750's or 3850's. They have already invested in Netgear at the access layer and I try to make the two work together, Cisco and Netgear. My experience is with Cisco don't know Netgear as well. The mixed vendor environment needs tests, the thing I'm not sure of using a distribution layer stacked with channels of ether of the access layer.

  The attached drawing shows the topology, I thought however, I have some concerns that I have documented in the drawing. Any advice would be appreciated.

  Would you consider using a chassis with redundant sup, power supplies and descenders, for the same device, on maps of different lines, as a device of distribution (or core)?  If so, it's about what you have with a battery (or VSS pair).  That is, if a frame (or a VSS pair) is a valid design, why a battery would be too.

  The benefits you have noted on your schema, for a battery would also apply to a frame (or a VSS pair).  Plus, you get more bandwidth.  PLEASE didn't need to block a redundant L2 path and stacking cables can provide more bandwidth then port 'normal '.

  EtherChannel should work between sellers using LACP.  (At least on Cisco, remember to choose an optimal hash algorithm.)

  The main disadvantage of a pile of Cisco, as a single chassis support redundancy, all the material is in a physical location.  Something is happening to this unique physical location, you lose this distribution node.

  Another downside, you are subject to a software problem, as a single logical device (applies also to the simple chassis or pair VSS), but with multiple devices of L2, you are then subject to defects of FHRP, STP, etc..

• Find the Siebel field mapped to corresponding to the presentation layer of OBIEE

  Hi all

  I am fairly new to OBIEE, and I need to know what Siebel/fields make up a particular field in the presentation layer. I can put it back together at the physical layer in the repository, but I need to know the exact domain name / fields in Siebel. I've attached a screenshot of the source of the column of the repository, and I don't know where to look further. It is said it is derived from "sum (Fact_W_AGREE_F.GLOBAL1_TOTAL_AMT)", but I don't know what Siebel field is "GLOBAL1_TOTAL_AMT". I also tried after the mapping in Informatica Powercenter Designer and I can't seem to find the correct field.

  

  Also, if I may ask... Why are there 2 tables of facts in the column Type of Source? What does that mean?

  Outside the option proposed by Christian, you can also use the document of ETL data lineage to identify the source column. ETL team normally maintain such a document in each project. If you use BI Apps and you have not created custom fields, you can use the data lineage guide provided by Oracle. Screenshot of the doc is attached below.

  

• Separation of layer Photoshop Mix

  I have merged the 2 layers. They now seem to be glued together. I want to do more work on them, but I can't rule out. Help appreciated.

  It only works if you haven't cut a group layer or selection.

  After having merged layers multiple and adds three or more steps, you will not be able to cancel the layer merge operation if its three beyond cancel as follows.
