  I have a Y400 Ideapad, purchased in December 2012, delivered with Windows 8. He has recently due to a malfunction after trying to install Ubuntu as a secondary OS. It was very difficult to get installed Ubuntu because UEFI and Secure Boot really tried to stop him, but I have finally installed it and the two operating systems, has been working for about 24 hours.   Thanks for post and welcome to the comunitiy. To answer the first question is really hard so I'm not sure of the answer. In my view, that it was a business decision to make the Tablet as affordable as possible.

  In response to your second question, if you connect the tablet to your PC see an icon indicating that your device is connected to the computer? If you do, try to drag to the bottom of the icon and follow the procedure to force the installation of the driver.

  • Today, they called and told me to take me the laptop confirmed has replaced the motherboard, I was surprised that the team could do this job in 7 days.

  I don't think that the core VID would change with a motherboard replacement.

  The CPU itself is perhaps at fault instead?

  Swapping out the motherboard probably takes an hour or two for an experienced technician.

  Lenovo contract stores local tech to do the job. If you are looking for a Lenovo authorized service center, you should be able to go there and ask them to fix it in person.

  Thank you, cor - el - I found the problem. I had a tabgroups add - remove it and tada.

  Assumed that the problem was more that I had not learned tabgroups feature so that it works properly on my set - so better to delete.

  The new interface is the default on Windows Vista and Windows 7 only. To get it under Windows XP, you must hide the menu bar. Do, in the view menu, select Toolbars, then click on the entrance to the "Menu bar".

  If you need to access the menus, you can press Alt or F10 to display temporarily.
