Lenovo Y460 RAM

My Y460 works under Windows 7 x 64 and is currently set to use a High Performance graphics card (i.e. ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650). How is it that 4 GB of RAM, only 3.80 GB is deemed usable?

rest of the memory can be used by the graphics card. (256 MB)

Press "windows + r", type "dxdiag" and check the memory on the graphics card tab.

Go with the first link. His brand lenovo RAM. When you buy RAM, you want to get the last type (i.e. the norm these days), which I think is DDR3 right now. DDR3 is simply the interface type. In addition, you must consider which will support your motherboard, and you find this out by looking at the specs of your motherboard. It will tell you all the ports and what type of everything what you can fit there.

The maximum amount of RAM has to do with your operating system (OS). The limits of each version of Windows, you can wikipedia. In fact, wikipedia EVERYTHING and you will learn.

The reason why I told you to buy the first RAM in the link is because you want all your RAM are the same to be more effective. I don't really know the details, but just to get the same RAM (brand, latency, type, no matter). As a casual PC user, you don't really need to worry about what anyone else. Just make sure the RAM on the motherboard of the computer desk or in your laptop and if you buy more RAM, try to be the same. Although it is not that serious.

BTW, I bought RAM myself for my 220 t make my Tablet have 8 GB, (which is the maximum that can support this thing) and it works like a charm.

I hope this helps. Building, fixing, modding and the upgrade of PC is all about trial and error. And once again, wikipedia everything. If you have a problem with a PC, try it on google and go on forums because people generally have the same problems. That's how you learn.

    Peace

  • Lenovo B590: RAM upgrade is not detected

    Hi all

Yesterday, I bought a chip of PC3-12800 CL11 204 pins SODIMM RAM Kingston 4 GB of my local store of hardware because I wanted to update my Lenovo B590 memory, which - by default - has 4 GB of DDR3 RAM installed. I have double checked if memory was compatible with my B590 calling Lenovo support and searching the Web (which gives this message, for example). The two sources confirmed the upgrade should not be a problem if I did not exceed the limit of 8GB. However, after that I had plugged the RAM, I found that it was not recognized by my OS (Windows) and my BIOS. They are always saying that I only have the factory installed 4096MB.
How can I make my system use this RAM upgrade? Please help, you have my gratitude!

Note: when I determine which RAM to buy, I've checked also which type of memory was already installed in my B590 by the manufacturer. I unscrewed my notebook and found a chip, brand Hynix memory, I assumed it was a single 4GB chip. However, the search results for of his series on the web show it is in fact a DDR3 SDRAM 2 GB chip. I checked my hardware, but could not see any other chip (even though I'm 100% sure that my system has 4 GB of RAM installed by the manufacturer). If this has nothing to do with the above? Thanks again!

RESOLVED: The RAM chip is not inserted properly in the additional location. All works fine now.

  • Lenovo G570 RAM update

    Hello

My Lenovo G570 (model No.: 20079) now has a 2 GB + 1 GB 1333 Mhz DDR3 Rams into its slots. I plan to take off the 1 GB key and replace it with a Corsair 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM for an effective 10 GB RAM.

However, on checking various websites that lists G570, we show that the maximum capacity of RAM is 8GB, if the processor supports up to 16 GB.

I would like to get a clarification on this. Is it possible to upgrade to > 8 GB? If not, why the difference in the maximum capacity of the system and the proc?

  • Lenovo limited RAM y580?

This laptop comes with 8 gb, but I am only allowed to run 3 GB max? Any ideas? Is this normal haha

    Hi again
Necessary information is relavent as most laptops have a 64-bit processor and this is true for your case too. operating system 32 bits can not use all the ram installed, but 64-bit can. To use the 8 GB, you will need to install win 7 6 s bit.
    Hope this helps

Is there a method to this madness or should I splurge of $20 on a new keyboard and save some time & troubles?

  • Lenovo U430p RAM

Hello, I have seen discussions on this topic, but I have a crucial question. If I buy u430p there is only one memory slot and it comes with 4 GB of memory. If I want to move to 8 GB and I opened the cover, I lose the guarantee of 2 years? If so, is it possible to improve my ram from 4 to 8 GB without losing the warranty of 2 years? Thank you, Daniel.

You don't lose the guarantee, but in the case where you have problems with the laptop, try swapping the RAM with the original one and check if the key 8 GB is not the culprit before calling an RMA number.

  • Lenovo Y460 fan does not

    Hi guys,.

So I just got my new laptop about a week before, on 18 October.

I have RealTemp running all the time, and my idle temp CPU is around 50. But today, I noticed it was around 80 and not even when running intensive programs. I realized that the fan was not working. So I installed SpeedFan. It has not detected fan. I couldn't find the fan settings in the BIOS. Help please? I won't have my laptop that works more because I don't want to damage overheating...

So is this a hardware problem, and I just received a faulty laptop, or is it a software problem (only thing I installed just before that to happen was Titan Quest, just bought the steam). I really doubt that installing a game would have an impact on my fan.

    Any ideas?

So I'm sending you this back to get fixed...-_-so angry... It's a computer brand new with questions.

  • T400 Rams and ssd compatibility

    Hi all

I'm planing to upgrade the ram and the hard drive of my computer laptop lenovo t400.

Could u pls help me to know what is the only compatible with lenovo t400 ram and ssd?

Note: I tried to upgrade the ram for lenovo t400 with bus 1333 pc-10600 but that does not .

    Kindly advice.

    Concerning

RAM = 1066 mhz 204-pin SODIMM DDR3 (although faster ram is also possible, so 1333 mhz and 1666 mhz DDR3 is also correct). But don't use Corsair ram to avoid problems of incompatibility.

SSD = SATAII (although SATAIII is also backward compatible), 2.5-inch, 9.5/7 mm thick discs.

I ordered the laptop with Lenovo 4 GB RAM + 4 GB memory of SODIMM DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600 MHz) reference number: 0A 65723

    Instead, I find assembled: Hynix HMT451S6BFR8A-PB s / n 0260C61C GB 4000 + 1600 MHz Samsung M471B5173QH0-YK0 s / n 18144E05 1600 MHz 4 000 GB

Why not have a LENOVO RAM? or IBM? He slipped the dealer? IBM produced the RAM from another brand?

Please help me, I need to understand if the dealer made me a most good RAM...

Lenovo makes RAM; they simply rebrand modules from other manufacturers.

Frankly, as long as the RAM works (run memtest86) it should be fine.

  • Yoga new tab 3 pro - I would return it?

Hi, I'm having a real problem with my new yoga 3 pro tab and I wonder if I should just go back and exchange it. I want this tablet (with more ram, frankly), but only if it works well.

The battery down slightly more than 10% an hour with light web browsing. (with the screen set to love with 35 percent) This is the real problem, but the browser blocks a lot too when I develop some links, he wakes up from his sleep by herself and then stays on about 10 minutes of waiting for me to enter my password, and autorotation - every time - keeps turning to the.

Should I contact Lenovo and exchange it? Or is this common? I thought he had 18 hours for mixed use.

    Dave

I think you will find that all of our YT3Pro have the problem.

Lenovo got ram hogging of the nucleus, often up to 1.3 GB! Leaving the system yor and apps to run less than 700 MB of ram.

Clearly, it sucks, and until it is resolved by lenovo, you will find that the device will come under critical conditions of ram, soetimes system crash.

Users who are not the problems are clearly not focusing on their system, while other users are the low ram question a real problem.

Like other devices use up to 300 MB for the kernel, we have actually been sold a 1 GB device. For a tablet of range modern sucks big time.

For my part not buy lenovo again. Excellent material of poor software and support!
