Library/iphone iTunes conflict

Hello

After a lifetime of Windows, I have now a new MacBook pro! (huzzah! should have done years ago)!

Most of my music library was purchased on iTunes for many years, and that seems to be especially when I look through my Macbook. However, many of my precious downloaded albums on my phone, and that Im assuming that include many CDs I have added some years ago and synched from my PC now practically useless.

I want ALL this music on my MacBook, so that when I would finally sync to the phone and the laptop, the main library will be my laptop to manage and control wirelessly on iPhone and iPad.

At the moment, if I sync, Im assuming I'm losing all these hundreds of titles that are on my phone, and they will be replaced by the limited albums on iTunes via my Macbook.

Is it possible to transfer my library of iPhone music to my macbook and not lose these albums?

Thank you very much

This is how it is intended to make you:

Moving a library: quick response if you use preferences by default iTunes settings: copy the folder integer iTunes (and to ensure that all of its subfolders and files) intact at the other disk, hold down the option/alt key (shift on Windows) keys to start iTunes and on request to select a library select iTunes Library.itl file in the copied folder.  https://support.Apple.com/HT201596

When it comes to a new car/computer put the iTunes folder copied to the default location of Macintosh HD > users > * user name * > music (or home > music) so you don't even have to start with the down option, iTunes will automatically look it there.  (Make sure that it is no anything already in the iTunes folder it that you want to keep because you will replace it with the one you are moving).  Don't forget to authorize computer in iTunes to your Apple ID if you use it to synchronize with Apple devices or play multimedia DRM protected (e.g., movies).

Some elements used in iTunes related activities are not stored in the iTunes library folder, but in special folders.  If you move a library to another computer, you can copy these too:

-Music files Apple cache: http://dougscripts.com/itunes/2015/09/new-flush-apple-music-cache-files/ - ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iTunes/SubscriptionPlayCache/ file, which is a bit like a "iTunes Media" folder for music from Apple

-device iOS, various preferences files backups: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3285925

Windows users see tip to: https://discussions.apple.com/message/18879381#18879381

You can move everything from your Windows PC to your Mac in a single movement, including your iTunes library: on Windows Migration Assistant - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4796 - learn how to use Windows Migration Assistant to migrate files from a Windows PC on a Mac.  Extra tip by Ludovic 05/2014 - https://discussions.apple.com/message/28178940#28178940

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not that a transfer backup device and media has been planned with you keep a master copy of your media on a computer that is in itself independently supported against loss.  To use a device with a different configuration, you pass the old library from a computer or a backup directly in the new configuration, not the device to the library. Synchronization of media isn't a way, computer device, update the contents of the device to the content on the computer, update or restore the content on a computer from a device. The exception is media to iTunes Store purchases that can be transferred to a computer.

Re-download or transfer your purchases iTunes Store for the iPhone, iPad or iPod to computer - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201267 - 'this feature only works for content purchased from the iTunes Store. From iOS9 is more apps that now need to be re-downloaded directly from the store.

To transfer other items from an i-device to a computer, you will need to use third-party commercial software.  See this document in turingtest2: recover your iTunes library from your iPod or device iOS - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991 even this method can fully recover what you originally had in the library. For example, in order to save space during synchronization if you had converted music files at a lower rate, or photos at a lower resolution, it is these lower quality files that will pick you up.

If you subscribe to the Apple music, titles that are not part of the content that you have purchased or downloaded may not be transferred and must be downloaded directly from iCloud.

Why can not download pictures on Photoshop Mix from my photo library (iPhone 6s), even if I have authorized by the app?

    Hi burgosfx!

In my view, the issue here is possible that your images are saved in the cloud (iCloud or another Cloud Computing service) and Mix has a hard time to capture these images. Please make sure that your images are saved locally on your device. Let me know if that helps!

  • iPhone, iTunes, user, shared reading list

Not too sure how to start this... Here goes.

Bought my wife an iPhone 5S for Christmas. She has here own iCloud and iTunes accounts (for the iPad). I used my iTunes (on Mac Mini w/Yosemite) transfer of backup, synchronization, etc. his iPad.

Thought "ringing the changes" and set him up as a new user in Yosemite. The intention was to keep all its iCloud and local Photos in its accounts. This caused a problem simply by using my account.

I have set up my iTunes to share music to users, and it does. But, when I plug her phone on iTunes, under his user account, although its iTunes 'sees' my iTunes - shared Playlists playlists do not appear for synchronization. Only "local" playlists

Does this means that for iTunes, I have to synchronize using my account "master"? Or, if it must be an administrator. Or what?

    Seasons Greetings.

    SGC

It's the kind of confusion...  I will comment on the part I understand.

I have set up my iTunes to share music to users, and it's... shared Playlists do not appear for synchronization.

iPhone only syncs directly with playlists (and media) "premises" on the user account.  After all, normally when you use home sharing in iTunes, the computer access to your shared library done over a network connection.  In your case, it may be of different users on the same Mac, but still, you cannot use a shared library to sync an iPhone.  Playlists and of the song files must be to his user account, in his iTunes library, synchronize with his iPhone.

I don't know if there is another question in your topic...

I used to be able to select all the songs in the left navigation bar - now iTunes requires me to select the folder or playlist. I used to be able to do it from the top left navigation bar and select my music. It appears the navigation bar has changed as well. That's happened?

In the sidebar, if you do not see 'Songs' displayed, place the cursor on the library and select 'change '.  Add 'Songs' from there.

Click 'Music' to see the drop down menu.  From there you can add other categories that you use often, such as TV shows, movies, or Internet Radio.
