Energy consumption high (30W) on Tecra A4

Hello!

My A4 battery only lasts for about AN hour at full load! NotebookHardwareControl shows a 30W energy consumption. What's wrong?

Círdan
p.s. I recently bought this used laptop.

Hello

I'm sure you know that the battery consumption depends on parameters of use and portable computer power. I hope that you have set all to reduce the consumption of energy and in this way, the battery life should be a little longer.

By the way: Tecra A4 is one and a half years and it is possible that the battery is not in the best conditions. When you buy a laptop used you don t know how the previous user has dealt with laptop and the battery.

  • How to calculate energy consumption?

    Hello

I am of MMU. I have try several ways to calculate energy consumption. What is the most accurate way to calculate the power and energy. ?

    Hello

Really depends on a number of factor. What specific DAQ hardware do you use? You have current transducers available? You want to only calculate for real or are you include reactive?

To start, you can use the input voltage, then the formula P = (V ^ 2) / R to get the wattage. Multiply the length in seconds (timed software) to get energy in Joule.

How much energy a computer consumes approximately per hour (LCD) when we Disconnect?

Also if anyone can compare the energy between disconnection and sleep or stopping, it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

As much wood as a woodchuck could chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood.

Who wants to say, not much.

The "logout" 'sleep' and 'shutting down' terms are not very accurate, especially the last two.  A precise answer to your question depends on the number and type of components which continue to receive and use the power in each of the different States.

For example, if you "log off", basically everything is still working but there is no charge special calculation on the CPU.  On the other hand, if you "shut down" but let all plugged into a power source, there are still energy consumption (see below).

    2) sleep (the printer is ready to accept any work, even wifi, before any print offers email ePrint) - power consumption about 13 watts
    3) idle (done printer does NOT work on wifi, NOT to print the ePrint e-mail offers, wake up within the parameters of the function of AUTO ON-OFF AUTO)-about consumption 6.5 watts

    All of this is correct?

    Hi fabris66,

If I understand correctly you want to know if the printer must be in mode standby in order to receive an email using eprint.

Yes, the printer must be in standby mode or on and connected to your home network.

    Hope that helps.

  • Photosmart Premium Fax C410 - energy consumption

I see the average energy consumption of the product, but I don't see any reference to know if there is a 'standby mode '.

    (1) is there such a fashion?  If so, how much energy it consumes?

    (2) the product must be left on when it will not be used for several hours?

    Hello Acover,

    To answer your questions.

    (1) is there such a fashion?  Yes, it has a standby mode. If so, how much energy it consumes? Power consumption: 34 active watts, 4.4 watts sleep, 6 watts, 0.4 watts manual stop reserve

    (2) the product must be left on when it will not be used for several hours? As the device has a fax machine, and I'm guessing that you do not want to receive faxes, you must leave it on. If you turn the unit off faxes will be received. It is also the reason why a standby mode is in the unit.

  • Energy consumption in UCS

    Hello

We have 4 chassis in our environment with the 1.4 firmware (3Q) and recently we had a problem with one of the PSU (PSU2) in frame 2 and we had replaced it and after that, we observe that 1 of the power supply in each chassis is showing that the 'Save energy' State (PSU - Details_All_Chassis.JPG).

I wish I understood how power consumption works in UCS, also attached snapshot of "Power groups" (Power - Group_Details.jpg) for reference.

You want to understand what is 'unbounded' & 'cap - ok '. What will be 'power save' State THAT PSU will be put ON the State and is going to be in a State of "power save".

    Thank you

    Amit Vyas

Amit, if the UFC in the diagram go 2 different energy sources then I swap cords 2 and 3 and then configure power of UCS as a grid strategy. Power 1, 2 are in a grid with grid of blocks and PSUS in 3.4 are in the grid on the other.

With grid, you could lose a PDU, and the system would remain upward. N + 1 is recommended when all the power supplies go to a single power source.

Take a look at this for more information about the options and power supply grids

I have a similar technique Equium A60-181 A60-156 and it takes about 2
hours with the best of energy saving, I think that Toshiba quote something like 2.5 hours
for my model. If you are looking for sustainable latop can buy one with a Pentium-M or

  • Switchable graphics Vostro 3560 energy consumption

    Hello

There is a problem with the graphics switchable my laptop Vostro 3560 (Windows 7, x 64 OS). Whenever I put the laptop to sleep/hibernate and resume both AMD 7670 M and graphics cards intel HD 4000 are on. This configuration generates a lot of heat and drains the battery quickly. To check what is the card on, I used HWiNFO64. To activate the AMD 7670 M graphics card off I have to start and close the application that is configured in Hi Performance mode in switchable graphics options (app dedicated to run on AMD 7670 M). No whitch application running in the background is not configured to run in High Performance mode. I discovered that stop AMD external events Utility service solves this problem, but then I lose the option of switching works only HD 4000. Is anyone having this problem and knows how to fix? I have updated drivers and BIOS, but it does not solve this problem. Thanks for the replies.

Find a solution by creating a file amdsw.bat with the command: NET START "AMD external events Utility | NET STOP "AMD external events Utility". Now when I need AMD graphics card I run the amdsw.bat file that starts AMD external events Utility service to switch to AMD card. Before you put the laptop to sleep, I run the same file of amdsw.bat again to stop the service.

  • CPU TDP does not explain the real energy consumption?

Hi, I tried to install an i7-3612QM to my thinkpad t430 (installed with i5 - 3210 m) with 65 Watt AC adapter. First, I removed the battery and when I turned on the laptop and started in the OS, all is well. Secondly, when I installed the battery back on and start the laptop, computer in the operating system and the lenovo Power Manager pops up a message saying that the current power adapter cannot provide enough power for the laptop and suggested buying a bigger. Now the two processors have a TDP of 35 watts, then I wonder what the real figure and I searched the internet, but somehow, CPU boss indicates that both processors have the same typical 28.44 Watt power consumpation. If I'm completely confused now. What is going on?

    see you soon

First of all, you are not supposed to run a ThinkPad without battery. It's the way they were designed.

I guarantee you'll see limitation if you are running this machine on an adapter 65W with no battery. Not to mention that the adapter is likely to start overheating after awhile.

Bottom line, spend 15 quid, get 90W Adapter, and call it a day.

  • X 1-consumption of high power (> 20W), GPU 100% life time battery, short, fan-noise

My new X 1 is ideal for grinding through data, but energy consumption seems high when idling or when I do simple tasks.

I have the BIOS version 1.27 (released October 21, 2011) and Power Manager 3.62

I have used Power Manager in order to use the value "low energy". However, the power used is always > 20W and usually around 25 - 27W. This translates into excessive heat (so the fan runs at 4500 RPM all the time) and the battery is lasting less than 1 hour if I give a Powerpoint presentation (not movies).

In addition, the power watch GPU at 100% all the time - Manager is this normal or would it not be a cause of increased tension required?

I tried all the solutions on fan noise in this thread:

    http://forums.Lenovo.com/T5/X-series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X1-fan-noise/TD-p/469001

I tried to set all the power settings to maximize independence in Windows 7, and then also in the power manager, but not enjoy. Help, please! What are the normal electrical needs and the GPU % at idle?

  • Tecra R840 - Win8 - energy hibernation mode

    Hello

I did the upgrade offered to W8, I am very satisfied with the W8 system, but the problem is that the laptop consumes battery also in hibernation mode.

I wouldn't understand that energy consumption will be in mode 'sleep', but on the hibernation mode?

I discovered that when the computer is in sleep or Hibernate, and I opened the lid, the computer automatically starts EVEN if the 'power computer when open cover' option is unchecked.

When I select to shut down the computer - it does not react to open the lid, I have to press the power button.

The problem may come from the windows system, that BONE tolds the computer wake up once the lid closed.

The problem is, the computer starts to load whenever I wake up after hibernation (I had my 15 minutes of the Home Office, and it consumes about 1 to 2% of battery.

It is quite annoying that my battery capacity full load is about 83% of the original (I bought my PC in June2012).

I got Lenovo T60 7 years ago, and there was an option to start to charge the battery only when the battery charge was less than 95% and it saves the battery capacity.

    Does anyone has some clues?

    Thank you!

Fact is that the battery capacity will decrease even if the laptop is turned OFF completely. Capacity of the battery will lose some percent of capacity. To reduce this review - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ9C015N0001R01.htm

    > I Lenovo T60 7 years ago, and there was an option to start to charge the battery only when the battery charge was less than 95% and it saves the battery capacity.
As far as I know that this option is not available on Toshiba laptops. When it is connected to AC notebook power supply starts to load the battery automatically.
There is no possibility to change anything.
