Libretto U100 memory upgrade (2 GB, part II)
I tried to respond to the http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=39592&tstart=0 thread, but it is blocked? Srange.
I had a glance my U100 Hardware information and there is certainly 1 x 1 GB memory available, so no mem edge.
Hello
I found the same info. Libretto U100 has no memory on board and did a RAM slot only.
This little book can handle with max 1 GB of RAM.
If you are already using the maximum RAM supported by Libretto U100.

Libretto U100 2 GB memory upgrade?
On the librettoworld.com forum (http://forum.librettoworld.com/u-model/maximum-ram-capacity-t31.html) there is a debate as to the maximum capacity of ram of the Libretto U100.
According to the specifications of the U100, 1 x 1 GB is the maximum. According to intel, the maximum value of the 855GME chipset (http://www.intel.com/Products/Notebook/Chipsets/855GME/855GME-overview.htm) is 2 GB.
So, can I use a single 2 GB module in my U100, or 2 GB for memory 2 slots or something?
Hello
Maybe you need to download the user manual and need to check.
The user manual says:
The slot accepts the module of RAM of 256 MB, 512 MB and 1 GB for a maximum of 1280 MB of memory. You know that 256 MB of RAM is installed on the motherboard than the internal memory and can not be deleted.
As a location is available and you can use only one memory card!Good bye

Libretto U100: Question about upgrade 60 GB HARD drive
Sorry about that...
I gave a number of price and the part for an UPGRADE to my MEMORY *(NOT THE HARD DISK) * 512 to 1 GB part number: KTT3311/1 G of OFFTEK. I hope this is the correct number of memory for the U100 with part number in my previous message.
Looking for the number of the hard disk.
What I found was a * HD 60GB 2.5 "8 MB 5400 RPM - part of Sweety: MK6034GAX * for £29,19 INC VAT. From DABS.com
Is that the correct HD at this price? The cost of £80 - £100 elsewhere. Therefore, the upgrade from a 30 to 60 GB HD that I am looking for the part number for.
Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks for any help, a contributor can offer.
Hello
You can use the modules of memory from different manufacturers. Only the specifications of memory are important! Compatible modules are DDR2-400/333 PC2700.
If you want you can also use these modules from Toshiba:
512 MB (PA3412U - 1 M 51)
1024MB (PA3313U-2M1G)You know this site of memory? :
http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=31679&ft=m&St=3You will also find compatible modules from Kingston.
With regard to the drive HARD;
Well, the price of HARD drive are different. It's not easy to tell if the price is too high or not. It depends on many factors such as; place of purchase, dealer, country, etc.The Libretto U100 was delivered with a 60GB drive HARD IDE (ATA-6).
You can use every HARD disk that supports the specifications of this!So just google for the best offer or contact the ASP in your country to order a new HARD disk that is compatible.

Upgrade the hard drive in the Libretto U100 to SSD drive
Anyone who undertakes an upgrade of the hard drive in a Libretto U100 to a SSD? This would surely greatly improve performance. What size is the hard drive in the U100 and which connector is used to connect the drive? Can anyone tell if this mod is possible?
Spymaster
So, I have a machine with an SSD (Tecra M5) and it works like a charm. Unfortunately, the discs are too expensive at the moment but you can benefit from a real performance.
Regarding your question: should be possible. You have a 1.8 inch drive "installed and there are SSDS which have almost the same form factor. Usually the U100 was delivered with MK6006GAH or MK3006GAL disks.
Here´s a site that might help, given that the reader has the same connector as the disc in your computer: http://www.dvnation.com/microatapics.html
Just check it out and I hope you can use my index research on SSDS... :)
Welcome them

Libretto U100 - error if I use the SD memory Boot utility
Hello
I'm trying to format and install a starter BACK on a 2 GB SD system. Laptop is a Libretto U100.
I can read and write the 2 GB SD used in my digital camera cards.
As far as I can tell the SD memory card Format program works well. But when I run the utility Boot memory SD I always the following error message:
TSDBOOT
Error reading. This disc may be unformatted or is not inserted.
I don't have a floppy drive, so I always use the option 'Read from an image file.
I used VFD to create a virtual floppy drive that I formatted as a bootable diskette, and recorded an image of it. But I've also tried other images, I found using Google.I tried two different SD cards by two different manufacturers.
I've updated the BIOS with the latest version on this site.
I checked the version of compatible SDA Standard SD Host Controller and it's the last. But I uninstalled and reinstalled in all cases.
I tried to format with SDFormatter V2.0.0.3 by Panasonic SD cardsAll to nothing does not. Whenever I get exactly the above error.
I try next?

Low value RAM on my Libretto U100
Hello. I have a Libretto U100. He is supposed to have 512 MB of RAM. But when I check it through "My Computer" it says that there are 496 MB. Can someone explain why this is? Thank you.
Hello
It's because of the shared memory graphics card.
This laptop comes with Intel 855GME 16 to 64 MB shared memory graphics card.
If the graphics card needs of more memory it takes to main memory.
The default value is 16 MB.
512 MB - 16 MB = 496 MB ;) -
I searched a VGA adapter cable for my Libretto U100 so I can have one on the monitor at home and at work. Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate anyone to sell them, and that they are not listed on the Toshiba site as an accessory.
Does anyone know if it is possible to buy these cables from anywhere?Hello
Well, as I know the 100U booklet uses a Mini-RGB port to connect an external video monitor.
Unfortunately, it failed for me to find this cable or adapter. But I recommend you to contact the ASP. I m sure there is a possibility to sell you this part.Good bye

9150 memory Upgrade - Question once again
Good day to all,
I have 2, Dimension 9150 who receive upgrades. The first machine was fine with OS WIN 7 / 32 PRO. Updated BIOS (A07), not installed the required software, no problem, everything no problem. RAID driver install also, no problem. Problem I have is the memory upgrade. Get machine 2 update, but not until this problem is resolved.
Been revised post old topic of memory and still has not found an absolute remedy to my question. Machine (1 and 2) are 2 GB; 4 512 PC2-4200 (all locations showing on bios config). I installed 4; 1 GB PC2-5300. Problem? Must not like system accepts 4 GB maximum and is also accepted speed Max.
My problem is 2 GB in slot 1-2 (white) are good, no problems (boots to windows without error beeps). Check the BIOS and find sticks of memory are reading fix it. When I add the other 2 sticks of 3-4 (black), error on boot beeps and lights 1-3 lights telling me memory error.
I recently updated a dimension 4700 and used memory not dell Komputer Bay. Could see all the modules and showed 3.76, so I bought the same memory for this machine. I know that in the past, Dell machines are "FINICKY" when it comes to memory.
Is this the case? If so, Crucial memory has been discussed and I might add 2 (2 GB each)? That's what I was not able to see the answers. Part of the crucial says Yes, post only memory. The other Yes was that I could use sticks of 2 GB. Spec note 1 GB is max stick, per slot.
I am at a loss, if you're looking for an idea on a direction.
Yes, low density 2 rank INTEL chipset compatible ram works fine. The other way to say it isn't that 380 Precsion ecc ram works fine. The GX620 has the same problem where we will see more ram by the bios but total ram is limited to 4 concerts by the chipset. Upgrade to a precision 380 allows a full 8 gigabytes of ram.
You could put 4 x 2 gig and he would show even in the bios but the ram would not be usable and the machine does not start with 64 bit OS.

I now have a camera with an SD card, but nothing to see everything in the booklet any SD card into the slot.
I'm astronished and disappointed that Toshiba is a not ship computers laptops with SD card reader drivers. Please, should what driver I install to get the SD card reader work?
Thanks in advance!
> I am astronished and disappointed that Toshiba is a not ship computers laptops with SD card reader drivers.
So all the drivers for Win XP for this Libretto U100 series are available on the European driver Toshiba page
So I m wondering why you're disappointed with ToshibaHowever, I could find the driver choose:
Product type: Archives
Family: booklet
Series of products: Libretto U100
Short num: PLU10E
OS: Windows XPNow you should get all the Win XP drivers.
I guess that the Cardbus driver is the driver you are looking for her should get the card reader controller to work.
In addition, you must install the SD Secure Module. This software is an update for your TOSHIBA Secure Digital Host controller. -

RAM: 2 x 1 GB
OS: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
I can add more technical info on request.
Recently saved this PC of my friend tries to throw it. Everything is fine with the PC. It works perfectly and there is no material visible failure wihtin the PC either. He just bought a new and had no need for this one.
Before turn me this into a House mutli-purpose server, I decided to upgrade the RAM.
So I did some research and found this page: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01883661
DDR3 240-pin DIMM 1333 MHz non - ECC, Max 4 GB per DIMM slot, Total Max 16 GB module.
I went and bought RAM Corsair. Link to the product: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/cmv4gx3m1a1333c9
I decided to get 2x4gb and upgrade later if I felt the need.
I was happy to install in the PC. one in DIMM 1 slot and the other in the DIMM 2 slot.
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!
I thought that maybe the slots are wrong, maybe they have to odd numbers then numbers.
So I changed the RAM of DIMM 2 DIMM 3.
Once again, the annoying ringtone.
I even tried leaving just the 4 GB DIMM 1 and tried to start the PC, but nothing helped.
I tried a lot of different combinations with the end result is 5 annoying beeps.
After that I thought that maybe, just maybe, an update of the BIOS can change things.
So I installed Windows 7 (I can't stand Windows. Arch Linux FTW) and performing a BIOS update.
I then installed the new RAM again. Yes... frickin 5 beeps AGAIN.
I am extremely disappointed at this point. I spent already $ 70 on a computer with free access.
I read the forums here, but I couldn't find a thread with a solution for me.
Is there anyone on this forum who could lend me a helping hand?
Any information would be gladly appreciated.
PS Please report any stupid error, I did. Stick and stones could not curb my bones.

Should what cable I connect a Libretto U100-105 to a LCD TV?
The pc has an external monitor port, but I can't tell what kind of connector, it is, since I have never seen one like this.
Thank youHello
It all depends on the available ports.
To my knowledge the U100 supports a Mini VGA Port and an adapter was supplied with the laptop.
http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Mini-VGAIn your case I am looking for a cable that is capable of connecting a mini VGA port with a port VGA (RGB) common, which is probably available on your TV
