• Cluster license SRM only 1 in a data center

  I am using proc license at the moment and in vCenter by I have a data center with 2 groups. One of the clusters is protected with SRM and the other has no protected VMs.

  However, I can't license SRM as it tries to concede the two groups (both are listed as computing resources in the SRM inventory) and tell me I have insufficient licenses. I've only licenses for Cluster 1, as it is the only one with protected VM. Is it possible to exclude Cluster 2.

  I think that your new installation of MIS 4.1 expects you to enter by VM license key, that's why you get an error.

  You have two options:

  1. convert your vm socket key. Before you do, make sure that you get enough licenses to protect the whole of the VMs. rate Convertion is 1 socket to 5 VMs. BTW, you will not be able to buy other licenses taken by if you want to expand your cluster.

  2 contact VMware support. They managed to solve the problem which is very similar to yours: http://communities.vmware.com/message/1656134#1656134

• Application of licenses SRM

  I am applying licenses SRM to my protected site and bought licenses of CPU 8.

  When I try to apply in the protected site licenses vCenter SRM is grayed out and is not available, the more it shows I have a requirement for the 16, the site of recovery SRM is available? There are four ESX hosts with 6 core CPU X 2 each on the protected site and 3 on the recovering site.

  I have about 16 protected VM is at the present time.

  Can anyone shed light on what I thought the 8 CPU license would be good.

  In my environment, we have improved SRM 4 4.1 and it continues to use the license key by socket without any problem.

  I think that for some reason any your SRM expects for per - vm license key.

  Maybe fresh installs of 4.1 already requires by vm-approvals.

• ESX 3.5 license NOW QUESTION Please HELP!

  After the bottom of 4 ESX 3.5 are connected to the ESX VC server on the host. After reboot ESX * do not start going that no licens is on this host running VC server. So I can not start server VC. I think that all licenses filen is based on

  Unfortunately, ESX 3.5 uses a license server that is installed on the server vCenter Server. In order to avoid the question, you are probably experiencing there is a period of 14 days, which however does not always work as expected. What you need to do in this case, is to generate a "hosted" the portal of My VMware license (I hope, it's still possible) to the ESX host on which vCenter Server is currently registered. After assigning the license to the host you should be able to turn to vCenter again.

• Mappings related inventory system SRM question

  I was curious to know what the expected behavior should be with the inventory of the network related mappings in the following example scenario:

  Group mappings of protection previously configured at the protected Site

  Recovery plan already set up on recovery Site

  I am currently connected to the virtual Center on the "Protected" site server and access the mappings of the inventory of my groups that I have configured previously. I now want to change the virtual network vswitches that uses these virtual machines protected in a failover scenario in respect of the Dr. I created a new virtual switch on the site of DR already before entering the SRM tab on the protected site.

  At this point, I have to do to change the vswitch that will be used on all vms preserved my at a newly created the DR site. The change is successful without error.

  I now have to connect to the virtual Center Server at my place of DR and go to one place holder vm objects which is part of the recovery plan and note that it is still configured to use the previous vswitch just change once connected on the protected site.

  My question is this. These should automatically place holder VMs has been updated to use the new vswitch configuration? If they were to be updated automatically, what would be the reason why they are still configured to use the old vswitch?

  If they were not to be updated automatically, is still once it is reasonable to assume that I'll just have to "Edit configuration" on each of the VM reserved space to use the new vswitch and everything should be good?

  Hello

  Existing placeholders are not supposed to get automatically updated when they change the mappings of an inventory. Mappings of the inventory are 'default' for new protected virtual machines.

  If I remember correctly, recovered VMs will be attached to the 'old' portgroup during a failover.

  I believe that the same is true when you manually reconfigure the placeholder.

  Probably, you need to restore the virtual machines.

• VMware vSphere 4 licenses essential question and the number of processors

  Hi all

  I have a question about the Essentials of VMware vSphere 4.1 license. We have a client interested in a VMware vSphere Essentials license. The machine runs on 2 x processor Xeon 5675 6 c. Now I read somewhere that there was a limitation of the number of processors that can be used with the edition of Essentials. If I remember correctly, the number of physical sockets is limited to 2, but I remember that there is another limit, but I could not find the document describing and wonder:

  Is there a limitation on the maximum number of 4 cores on one physical processor that can or will be used by VMware vSphere 4.1 Essentials or there is a limitation on the number of 4 vCPU that can be assigned to a guest?

  I would like to know because if this is a limitation on the number of vCPU that can be assigned to a customer that would not be a problem because we have no guests in need of vCPU, then 2 more, but if this is a limitation on the number of cores that would be used by VMware vSphere Essentials, it would be a waste of money to buy a 6-Core ;-)

• Licenses in Question - what exactly what I need to order

  We are currently planning an upgrade and I have a few licensing issues. With our software provider that we basically tell them exactly what we want, they are really not technical so I want to make sure you only order exactly what I need. For now, we run ESX 3.5 on 4 servers dell connected to a San and we use Virtual center to manage all this. We have between 20-25 virtual servers running at any time. We are looking to buy new equipment and move to vSphere. I was looking on the VMware web site and it looks like "vSphere for small and medium-sized companies" is what we need more vCenter Server. After that, I am confused, do I still have to buy ESXi licenses or is it delivered? It seems that it is the link, but I'm not clear. My new hardware environment will have 4 servers each with two ESXi 6 processors so a total of 48 processors and 1 iSCSI san. Can someone spell it out for me exactly what I need in what is VMware licenses in this configuration?

  The Troy link provided should answer your questions - but the things to keep in mind the VMware ESXi licenses per physical processor, so you'll need 8 ESXi licenses - if you want to run vCenter you licensed vCenter, for different features like HA, DRS and vMotion you will need vCenter and will depend on the ESXi Server license level you buy.

• Cisco Anyconnect license upgrade Questions

  So, we currently have a pair of failover ASA 5515 - X running at one of our sites. This serves as a VPN gateway for our users. I am migrating users from the old Cisco VPN client to the newest Cisco Anyconnect client. I have work and installing anyconnect. Meanwhile, I discovered that process to take care of TLS 1.1 and using the Anyconnect client, you must use the most recent 4.0 Anyconnect client. To use this client, you must have something license called a "Anyconnect more" I think it was a recent change of return in 2014. We currently have the Anyconnect Essentials license installed on the ASA pair. I discovered that not only it a license upgrade available for upgrade Anyconnect positive of the battery, but the Anyconnect Plus license is subscription now. Boo Cisco. But that's another debate.

  I went ahead and reluctantly bought the upgrade license to upgrade Anyconnect positive of the battery. I am trying to understand however the affects of the installation of this license with respect to the current VPN functionality. Currently, we offer the following VPN options for our users:

  RA IPSEC (IKE v1via former customer)

  RA IPSEC (L2TP via the Windows client)

  SSL (Anyconnect 3.0)

  We also use tunneling IPSEC of P2P (IKEv1 PSK) between two sites to serve as a link of relief when our primary site-to-site link fails.

  If anyone knows what would be the effect on the current VPN functionality when installing my upgrade license? He turns off the older IPSEC IKEv1 feature? As I said I want to migrate to the newer platform users but still have need of the oldest customer work until this can be done. I have this in my current setup:

  WebVPN

  AnyConnect essentials

  What happens on this command when I apply the new license?

  Addition of the new activation key and the client configuration somehow 4.x will not affect the IKEv1, L2TP or VPN SSL. "AnyConnect essentials" rest a command active and valid

  It will give the ability to activate the advanced security features that require the 4.x client.

• Version of the software Cisco Wireless LAN controllers & Licensing (controllers HA and APs Adder & licenses basic questions)

  In fact, one of my clients has two Cisco 5508 wireless LAN controllers installed in a site and back up and running now. one of them running software version 7.4 and the other running software version 7.6. Each of them works as a stand-alone controller with number of access points. Based on this scenario, answer below concerns:

  • Can we transfer all active licenses at one of them and use it as a HA free of charge?

  • Up to which version of the software, we can improve these controllers without any extra charge?

  • What we must do if we want to move two of them to version 8 software?

  Here are a few notes:

  -Only licenses Adder can be reheberges to another controller. Base license cannot be rehosted unless the unit is THAT RMA would be.

  -Too long the WLC has a minimum of 50 access point license, so that the unit can be used for HA N + 1 or AP SSO.

  s ' it use SSO of AP, the WLC must have connections to subnets for layer 2 even due to the IP address of the interface.

  HA N + 1 can be used in sites different especially if the subnet do not align

• ASA5505 VPN-VLAN and licenses requirements question

  Hi all -

  I want to know if an ASA 5505 can perform the following operations, and what type of license may not be required to do this:

  -Provide several subnets / VLAN, a port on the mode of the trunk 5505 in 802. 1 q so that a wireless access point can see all the VLANS.

  -Provide a tunnel VPN L2L to an ASA5520, such as _all traffic_ leave two or more local area networks virtual/subnets would be transported through the VPN, while another virtual local network (Internet comments) would not be passed through the VPN and would go directly to the ISP.

  -that a permit is required to provide the circuits on a port of the ASA and several VLANS?

  The idea is that the ASA 5505 would be on a remote site.

  One Vlan at this place would be the 'business' network, and a VLAN would be invited Internet.

  Enterprise Vlan would need to have all the packages to and since this Vlan sent through the VPN, including access Internet from the corporate PC.

  Comments Internet Vlan would be any transits the VPN and would be sent directly to the ISP (cable, Internet access)

  A Meraki AP would be connected to a trunk port on the SAA, providing WiFi public and also WiFi business.

  The subnets used by these SSID would be the VLAN defined on the SAA for public and corporate traffic.

  Note that this isn't "divides the tunnel" in the traditional sense of the term, where the remote PC company would send only corporate-interesting-traffic

  on the VPN and the PC company would have access to the Internet directly.

  The intention is that the traffic Internet-bound business PCs would be sent via the VPN to go through a filter of web content in the internal data center,

  and Internet comments traffic would not be sent to the internal data center.

  The ASA 5505 should be able to do what you describe as your needs. Should the safety license more to support circuits and features for several VLANs.

• Windows Server 2012 Essentials license key questions

  We recently had to reinstall a server running Windows Server 2012 Essentials.

  We have reinstalled the wrench out of the key Windows Server 2012 Essentials on Tower Server. This key worked for a few days. Then the server started to complain that the key cannot be used. When I enter the key in the key of Activation Windows field, a label in this text field indicates the key is valid, but when I click on the button Activate, after half a minute to process the application, it gives a 0xC004F01F error.

• Upgrade SRM question

  I'm trying to upgrade the SRM 5.1.1 to 5.1.2. I am invited by the installer as to if I want to overwrite the current record with Vcenter.

  It is not that I have any other choice. I guess that this normal for an upgrade, is that correct?

• configuration of vCOP and licensing NOOB question

  Friends,

  I searched for a few loads solution / reporting for vSphere environment and after a few days with Veeam One

  I downloaded vCOP test to see if it's something I need (apparently...)

  Unfortunately I have not understande what wrong with my way of thinking... I see a license key on the evaluation of product mywmare page - but the auto-generated license key

  vCOP in web view client is different. In Operations Manager, I see only three tabs: operations, environment and alerts... I see no reports etc...

  In configuration I see service running, connected vcenter, the status of 'authorized' product

  Where is the flaw? Versions? Is it necessary to change the license but how?

  Please advice; I think that it is something so obvious that I can't find a solution online...

  "All license management tasks are performed in the vSphere Client. You cannot assign licenses in vCenter operations Manager Administration Portal. Follow the instructions in the VMware vCenter Operations Manager deployment and Configuration Guide for license.

  vCenter Operations Manager running in mode of foundation if no license key or an incompatible license key is applied. "Assign the license key for the edition you purchased."

• Licensing noob question

  I have a server with 2 processors with an Essentials kit license with 4 virtual servers on this subject.  I do not much that is delicate, once these virtual servers are set up.   I don't have a SEM, just a raid array that I accidentally subdivided for each server in windows. 

  I have another server with 4 processors which is inactive.  At the end of the day, I migrate VMs from the old to the new, and I see some posts suggesting veeam for this.  Can I buy an another kits essentials (2 cpus ea, $500 + exg v5 license or maybe 2 kits over $ 1000?) to hold an appropriate license and migrate to this server?    Or do I have 4 standard licenses (one for each UC, $4000).  

  Just as quickly, I not drop an extra $3 K for this.  I'll probably try HyperV at this time, since it's free.

  Unfortunately the Kits Essentials only supports up to 3 guests with a maximum of 2 physical processors. With more than 2 Sockets you must go with the Standard licenses or superiors.

  One of the managers in my company designed our Web site with Dreamweaver, but it seems now that I'll help add a directory on the site, so I should probably a copy myself. Currently, it has the program installed on his work and home computers and asked me whether we would be in measure/legally authorized to install Dreamweaver on my computer as well or if we need to buy an extra copy.

  You would need an extra copy.  The basic box license allows use on a desktop and a laptop, and since these two instances are used you would need one more copy unless your boss decides to deactivate one of their copies.
