License transfer of Ultimate Windows 7 laptop on the desktop (laptop is dead)

Initially, I had a HP laptop comes with windows Vista.  When it came out, I bought the Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade for her.  This laptop is now dead and won't start.

I also have a computer with Windows 7 Home Premium.  I was wondering if I can transfer the license of Windows 7 Ultimate on my desktop since I can no longer use the laptop?  If I needed to uninstall or downgrade the laptop that would be impossible - as it is quite dead.

Yes, you can.

If I needed to uninstall or downgrade the laptop that would be impossible - as it is quite dead.

Just use the Windows 7 Ultimate key and upgrade installation of Windows 7 Home Premium using Anytime Upgrade, then reactivate by phone:

If the license for Windows 7 Ultimate, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Ultimate edition at the request, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate files the stored settings and programs.

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

(2) press the ENTER"" key.

(3) select your "country" in the list.

(4) choose the option "activate phone".

  • Stuck on blue HP Invent screen and not loading Windows not items on the desktop after you done a system recovery

Hello, this is my first time posting here, because I'm in desperate mode!  I have a HP Pavilion Slimline s5304y using Windows 7, desktop pc that I bought in February 2010.

After getting a virus on my computer, I ordered system of HP recovery disks, and made to factory settings recovery process (twice!), however, during the Windows install process, it never cross the blue HP Invent screen that says:

-Do not turn off your PC during this unique installation process

-Your PC will restart several times during the installation process

-Messages may appear on your screen. Ignore these messages until you are prompted to restart or shut down your PC

To the bottom of the screen, it keeps saying "Please wait...". "with a green scroll bar. What I see is the buttom to start at the bottom left corner but I am not able to access anything whatsoever and I never get my desktop screen or the desktop icons. I restarted and closed several times, and as soon as I log on windows, I just get the same blue screen.

The 2nd time I did the recovery process, I let him continue overnight (just in case I was not waiting long enough) and my computer never stop as it was supposed to when the installation is complete.  In addition, the whole process, I looked the first time around and my computer never restarted as he said he was supposed to; It seems to just be stuck for the rest of the installation procedure for windows.  There finally comes to switch to "standby" mode.

I have nothing plugged on the other except the power cord, monitor, and keyboard/mouse.  I have not installed new hardware since I bought the computer.

I did a test of diagnosis and everything going on.

I tried to get help from HP Support, but because I am out of the warranty period, they cannot help me and want to charge me $99!

I don't know what else to do at this point. Can someone please?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Assuming that maybe that's a problem with the recovery discs, it is a simple work-around if you have (or can borrow) an installation disc Windows 7 at retail which is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - IE if your PC comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, it comes to the exact retail version that you would need.

If you do not access to the retail drives, you can create an installation disk yourself - just download good picture disc from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/Download-Windows-7-ISO-official-32-bit-and-64-bit-direct-download-link...

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the sticker COST on your PC on demand, and when the installation is complete, use the 'method of phone", described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want just a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally delivered with OEM installations.

Additional drivers, you may need can be found here.

  • Windows 7 - files in the Desktop folder do not appear on real office

I had Windows 7 installed a few months, have not had a single problem with it until the last round of updates. After the reboot, everything on my desk has disappeared, including trash. However, if I go to my home, all my files, links directory, folders and trash are always there. If I copy or drag something on the desktop, it immediately disappears, but again it is in my Desktop folder.

I tried everything I can think and found fixes for similar problems in Vista, but they do not work with Windows 7.

Maybe try right-click on desktop, display and uncheck the box next to show the desktop icons; then repeat and re-check the box. I had that happen before and it worked for me...

  • Windows goes directly to the desktop and not the boot screen.

. My computer just updated windows 8 and now it goes directly to the office when an application instead of tiles to apps closing.  How to stop

It's an easy fix, once you know what to look for.

Go to the desktop and right click on the taskbar. Click Properties,

On the first tab, there is an option to "See the Windows Store apps on the taskbar" uncheck the box.

Then go to the Navigation tab uncheck "Boot to the desktop."

That should do it. If it is not, please let me know.

  • Computer laptop Windows 7 can see the desktop of Windows XP, but cannot ping or you connect

I've seen hundreds of threads describing problems similar to mine, but none of the suggested fixes worked in my case so I'm starting a new thread.  I bought a new laptop with Windows 7 Home Edition.  My setup before the new laptop was as follows:

Cable modem router NetGear WGT624v3---> desktop Windows XP Home Edition SP3--->

I have set up portable Win 7 with the same name of the Office XP Workgroup.  The username and password are the same on both.  File and printer sharing is enabled on both.  The XP desktop laptop Win 7 in the workgroup in my network places.  It can successfully ping the laptop Win 7.  It can access shared folders on the Win 7 machine with no problems.

My problem is that the connection seems one-sided.  Laptop Win 7 will usually display the XP desktop in the network when Windows Explorer opens.  It still display the XP desktop in the network map in network and sharing Center.  However, I can't map a network drive on the XP desktop by using the name of computer or IP address.  I can't even ping the XP desktop.  But if I start the Office XP in Safe Mode with networking, the Win 7 laptop can ping and access shared folders on the XP desktop computer.

I tried to disable the firewall on both machines.  I confirmed that the appropriate ports are open for sharing files on both machines.  Safe mode they suggest the problem lies with Windows XP, but I'm running out of things to try.  And the various solutions I've seen in the Strait of similar positions as urban legends.

    Hi Meghmala,

Thanks for the great tips.  You got me in the right direction.  After configuring my XP machine for a clean boot I have to ping, see and access shared files on desktop XP from Win 7 laptop.  Then, I have considered the services and startup programs that has been disabled for the clean boot.  I found a Cisco VPN service which I had previously used to fix on my office intranet.  I disabled this service and the corresponding to my next selective startup startup file.  I was still able to connect to the computer to Office XP.  I think that the VPN service was the cause of the problem even though I had no open an active VPN session.  Thanks again for this problem.  I tried to solve this problem for weeks.

  • Pavilion g7 Notebook PC windows 7 - changes on the desktop when moving the mouse to the keyboard

I have a HP Pavilion g7 Notebook PC running windows 7.  When I use the mouse (wireless or wired) and then click to add text - when I go to type on the keyboard - the window becomes the office window. If I drag on the touchpad, returns the original window. This happens quite often.  Any suggestions as to what may cause this problem?

    Hey pjg316,

I'm sorry that you run into this problem from touchpad. There are gestures multitouch built into many laptops touchpad drivers. Synaptics (the manufacturer of touchpad) did a good job of making these features very customizable gesture.

It seems that perhaps the four fingers Flick that causes this problem. You can either

    (1) disable it so it never happens, or

    (2) you can set the sensitivity of the mouse so that it does not recognize your hand/fingers hovering / brushing in the touchpad as the flick of four fingers.

    To view these settings:

    1. click on the Start button

    2. type "mouse".

    3. click on the tab to the right. He can say "ClickPad" / "TouchPad" / "Device" / 'Synaptics' settings depending on what version you have.

    4. then click on settings for ClickPad.

    5. If you want to disable the four fingers flick, just to develop gestures MultiFinger and uncheck the box. Don't forget to click on apply to save the changes.

If you want to change your sensitivity and keep the four fingers flick activated, expand pointing and double-click sensitivity. Adjust the slider only one notch at a time, to avoid making too big of a change that would make the touchpad is very sensitive. Don't forget to click on apply to save the changes.

If you make any changes you want to UN - do, you can always click the default button at the bottom left. Let me know if you have any questions
