Licensing vCenter ROBO issues

Hello

I just buy a ROBO (25 VM) license key and I wanted to add to my existing vCenter server.

But whenever I added to vCenter I get this error

Does anyone has worked with before ROBO licenses and could you tell me what is the problem? or contact VMware Support?

Which vCenter version you're running and which version license did you buy?

If you're running 5.5 and vSphere bought 6 licenses, you will need to downgrade the license to 5.5.

  • Issue of license VCenter 4.1

No doubt very basic question, but I have a four node cluster running ESX 3.5, managed by a VCenter 4.0 using the old system .lic.  I'm moving this cluster to a VCenter 4.1, which uses the new license key and I was wondering how to handle the transfer of licences to a .lic to a real vmware key I type?  The old cluster will remain in production because I have another cluster that needs to stay on this subject for now.

On a related note, I have another race to vcenter 4.1 Foundation license, three host ESXi 4.1 management mode.  I have an old vcenter running the Enterprise version that performs a few different groups.  I want to gradually move off the former vcenter clusters to the new, but cannot do so until I get an enterprise for my new vcenter license as the Foundation to manage three hosts.  Once I've migrated all virtual machines off the old vcenter I can reuse this license of the company, but until I can do it is there a work around?  Additional guests can be used on the Vcenter Foundation for a certain period of time before they stop working?  Basically I was wondering how best to juggle the licensing vcenter foundation and the company.

    Thanks in advance?

Hello edawg, you must maintain the license during your migration process server for esx 3.5 need this license server.

In the website of vmware, you can access with the registered account and download the new license (if you care), and it should be applied in the new vcenter 4.1.

    Hope that I help you.

  • vCenter & HA issues

    Hello

After looking for documentation and reading documentation and still issues, I decided too maybe see if I can get help from this form.

Our agency is currently seeking to our virtualization emergency operations center. I tested Hyper-V and was not very impressed, and now I'm testing VMware.

So far, I'm much more impressed but have a high availability questions (we need it).

I have two servers (HP ProLiant BL480c of blades w /... active virtual Intel and run memory enabled on both).

I installed ESX Server 3.5 to these servers and installed Virtual vCenter 2.5 to another server.

Now I use a trial license provided by VMware...

Here's my network configuration for these two servers:

    Virtual switch: vSwitch0

    Virtual Machine port group

    VMKernel: 10.10.0.163

    Service console: 10.10.0.162 (vswif0)

    Virtual switch: vSwitch1

    VMKernel 2: 192.168.50.103

    Service console 2: 192.168.50.102 (vswif1)

    Two different network adapters.

    Here are the other server:

    Virtual swtich: vSwitch0

    Virtual Machine port group

    VMkernel: 10.10.0.161

    Service console: 10.10.0.160 (vswif0)

    Virtual switch: vSwitch1

    Service console 2: 192.168.50.100 (vswif1)

    VMKernel Port: 192.168.50.101

    VMotion is enabled.

Now where I'm going wrong? I put in a cluster, one server is always very good, but all the others are not.

I always get a HA agent on 10.10.0.162 cluster Cluster ADEM to new data center has an error.

Well, what does this means and how is it provides more information?

I checked the DNS and I can ping to each of the servers and get answers? I read somewhere that DNS could be a problem. You can see a FULL domain name and server name

Thanks for your help in advance,

    Jacob

have you added your host to vc by ip or FQDN - if it should be changed to FQDN by ip address

  • License after restoring issues?

    I have a Dell T310 with SBS 2008 that I intend to upgrade a S300 controller to controller H700.  I intend to:
    1. mark and pull the current readers, then controller S300.
    2. install the H700 and put in place a disc of 2 TB as a RAID-0 and restore to ensure that the backups are working.
    3. remove the 2 TB drive and set up the disks in RAID-5 on the H700
    4 restoration.

    Question:
Ther e will have problems with the restoration of SBS 2008 license?

    Thank you!

It should not be licensing issues.  Even the mere fact of the evolution of controllers and disks should not be enough for the kickoff of activation again.

  • Question about license vcenter 5.5

    Hello people,

Small doubt just wanted to know that I'm gng to upgrade the vcenter of 5.0 to 5.5 and I downloaded the trial version of vcenter 5.5 using tests of environment but now 60 days has been more so if I install on I think that production which will continue to work as we have a 5.0 license in place.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you

    Hello, amitb79.

VMware does not divide the licenses of minor versions of products (this is certainly true for vSphere and views), it is not Microsoft (2012 and 2012 R2 for example). Your license will be working fine for 5.5 too.

Hmm, but Microsoft told us that Win 2012 and 2012R2 are different products, but who cares.

  • Licensing vCenter confusion

I'm pretty new to VMWare and be a sysadmin in general, so I'm confuse that I inherited through the environment, and try to understand things. We have two sites with VM hosts; our HQ office which has 3 guests and a recovery with a single host site. Until a few months ago the host DR no was not managed by a vCenter server. I joined the single host on the DR site to an empty data center object unit of vCenter server running on hosts in HQ. I don't remember if she asked for a license of sort or not when I did.

Now, I try to get RS to work between the sites, so I've deployed a unit of vCenter server to host the site of DR and licensed. Now, I'm trying to attach an empty object of the DR DR vCenter Server host data center (and thus remove the server vCenter in HQ).

When I do this, the wizard asks me to assign a license key to this host. Here is where I get lost. He suggests that I attribute a license key that I already use for this host, but when I try to use it I tells me that the license belongs to other inventory and I'm going to be in non-compliance, unless I delete the inventory. I don't know what all this means, so I dug through my licenses available on the VMWare website, until I found the Red-obscured license in there and I have this. The license that is obscured in red is one that is in use on the site of HQ. So if I understand correctly, then I should put that is obscured in green on the DR site?

    Hello

Yes, you are right.  10 - CPU package appears as the unique license key and can therefore be installed in a vCenter.  Other license keys 5 processors will have to be added to your vCenter DR.

    All the best,

    Mike

  • Licensing vCenter Server

    Dear team,

Please let me know is vcenter 4 standard license will work with vcenter server5.1 or to buy / upgrade of the existing license. Please help me with the complete steps.

    concerning

    Mr. Vmware

From a technical point of view, you will have two license keys after the license upgraded in my VMware, one for version 4.x (the existing one) and one for version 5.x (newly assigned license). However, with the upgrade of the license key in the portal, you agree to stop using the old license.

  • Regarding licensing vCenter

Let say, I install the vCenter 64-bit DSN = databases Oracle 11 g databases

I need to buy databases to Oracle 11 g license separately OR the vSphere 5 licenses (Foundation, Standard, Enterprise Plus) already the Oracle, including databases of license?

The database license is not included and is separated from the vCenter licenses. Although vCenter 5 comes with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express for smaller deployments (up to 5 guests and 50 virtual machines)...

When I install the license server, can I bring over the old file from my old server vcenter 2.5 license? Also, if I do a new install of 5.0 and point to my database server, I have to use the data for this upgrade migration tool?

    Thank you

Yes, you will need the original from the old server vcenter licenses, or you can download them on the VMware license portal.

If you perform a new installation, Yes, you can use the data migration tool-

  • Licensing vCenter with SRM

    Hi all

I seem to be going round in circles with this question - I have read the documentation and recorded a call with the service the customer on this subject, and the answers are contradictory to say the least...

We seek to implement a SRM solution in a new infrastructure - essentially a management cluster will use SRM failover management of virtual machines to a domain protected to a DC recovery in another city controller.  The DC recovery will be dark for normal operations, only more direct when MRS. failover occurs and will not host virtual machines.

The question I have vCenter licenses of MRS. The documentation states that, during failover of a vCenter server from a site protected for a recovery site hosting any other virtual machines, only 1 vCenter license is required. However the VMware licenses team said the 2 licenses are required for automatic restoration of VMs for the protected site of origin once he recovered.

So, who is? Any thoughts anyone (who is not a dealer or someone trying to sell me licenses)? Happy qualify points if necessary to answer the question...

    See you soon.

    Jeremy.

the vcenter in Dominican Republic must be put under tension and linked with the SRM server of the RD, in this scenario, it's actually light and 2nd license is necessary.

  • Licensing vCenter and vSphere/installation

I have some difficulty to consolidate the vm for a client versions.

vSphere Essentials Kit includees vCenter Server and Agents for up to 3 guests, but the hosts did not have vMotion/HA

vSphere Standard license includes support for vMotion and HA

    http://www.VMware.com/products/vSphere/buy/editions_comparison.html

Can I buy two Standard vSphere licenses and a vSphere Essentials Kit License HA and vMotion? The price including 1 year support package would be $3 430 instead of the vSphere Essentials Plus of a package (for 3 machines) to $4 369

If this is not the case, what makes different product versions? Is it possible for vMotion/HA for only two guests at a lower price?

The answer is no, vSphere Essentials only can be used with the host Essentials license license and may not be used with another license.

The second answer is Yes, use the essential package more vSphere. It includes VMotion and HA.

  • Support for OEM or Open License or retail issue

We have a company IT "Microsoft Certified partner" monitor all of our computers, servers,.  When we ask for an upgrade of the server, we have got a system in mind of Dell, but was informed by the company COMPUTER, we cannot do this, we can get the Dell hardware, but the system must come from them that Dell's dating system OEM, and Microsoft does not support OEM.  Not even retail, because Microsoft does not detail support either

My question is if we pay them a large sum every month to support already, why is it important, or a matter of concern for us that Microsoft does not support OEM?  They should know how to support?  After all, that's why we pay for and certified?  So, do not know why they say that.    There is not a difference between OEM and Open License wholesale price, but work involved will be more if we do not work with OEM.

Another interesting thing is, OEM is more expensive than the retail?  When I wonder if OEM is not supported, it seems that retail version is less expensive that the price of the Open License, told me the retail is not supported either, so go with what they suggested that seems unreal because I thought Open License is for buyers of volume that would be less expensive than a single commercial version.

OEM licenses are considerably cheaper than retail ones to buy - as OEM is required by the terms of their license to provide support for it.

The OEM may or may not pass the cost of such support on in the cost of the system supplied.

ALWAYS MS supports licensing retail - 90 days.

If you buy Volume licenses, you get an appropriate support from MS, depending on the package purchased.

Check the terms of your license to see what support MS you have right to-which will be different from the support you pay your partner for.

  • VCenter deployment issues 6 - domain SSO

    Hello

I have a problem my head around defining the domain of SINGLE sign-on in my new vSphere deployment package 6.0. I have a domain active directory (server.local) and installing vCenter 6, you are prompted for the SSO domain name (default is vsphere.local). What I want to know, it is important that name and what is the impact of the choice or change default name? The reason for my question is the following:

    1. we have a vSphere/vCenter 5.5 for our domain infrastructure deployment and the application that uses vsphere.local as the domain of SINGLE sign-on.

    2. I am deploying a new environment 6.0 vSphere/vcenter for a new VDI environment.

    3. I will deploy a second 6.0 environment vSphere/vCenter for a second VDI environment.

    4. I will use more connected between two vCenter environment 6 because I want to keep totally separate.

In factoring, is it safe to use vsphere.local for my first 6.0 deployment even if I use vsphere.local for my production environment 5.5 already? If it is OK, then is it OK to use vsphere.local for both of my 6.0 vSphere deployments, even if all three environments will be authenticating against the domain active directory domain.local? The domain authentication UNIQUE write anything to AD or just authenticates against it so that I can use the same SSO domain in three distinct environments without negative impact?

Any help with sort my confusion with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

Yes, it is safe to use the same domain name SSO for multiple deployments of vSphere, even if you use the same Active Directory domain as a source of identity. Don't forget that before vCenter 6, you are not able to change the domain name from SSO for anything other than the vsphere.local and this has never been a limit to how many vCenter Server can be deployed and configured to use the same Active Directory domain.
