  Lightroom is not in the expected location that he thinks that the photos are in the photos.

  Raeburn, if you get the trial version, make sure that you are connected to creative cloud. Here's what you can try.

  • Sign in to creative cloud.
  • Disconnect from the Internet.
  • Try to use Lightroom and check if you get a trial version.

  Note: Please make sure that you are not disconnected from the creative clouds.

  I work with the beta version of Lightroom 4 on my Mac laptop.  It works fine, but yesterday I opened the program to do the work and magically ALL my files and photos are all of a sudden while offline or missing. The photos are residing on an external hard drive, and I can open them using Photoshop or anything simply by double-clicking on them in the list of hard drive.  I went on Lightroom thumbnails and clicking on the question mark to 'find' again, but when I navigated to the image on my G-Drive (external) and click on the correct image to restore the link, all of a sudden all the thumbnails in this case have disappeared and Lightroom tells me that he has "no photos in the selected folder.  Any ideas about how I can get it working properly again?

  Drives external hard tend to change drive letters unless you nail them. All your photos are probably lost when it happened, and you found them correctly again. Your photos are always in Lightroom. Don't panic.

  First, you must assign a permanent drive letter to this external drive. Control Panel / Administrative Tools/Computer Management/disk on Win 7.

  Second, when you pointed out the correct drive (with his new letter), the old disk volume become invalid. Look in your records for the good reader Panel.

  Mix/Fix can open images at full resolution instead of images of downsizing to 2048px when opening an image compared to the Creative clouds > Lightroom. Please update your application and let me know if you are facing this problem of pixelation always. Also, remember that if you use images downloaded from the internet or other places, they are smaller and so pixelated.

  Thank you very much for your suggestions! They finally gave me the direction I go solve the problems I had. Basically, the Mac Book Pro based Lightroom irdata files still had thumbnails. Once I removed the and redirected Lightroom external hard disk, smart previews of the external drive work when the player is well off the MBP. Much obliged.

  I was wondering if you have any suggestions on how to backup all the files content and related data of Lightroom that exists on the external hard drive to another external hard drive as a backup? Ideally, it would be great if I could be able to launch security HD since the Mac Book Pro and do the work of Lightroom with the backup image files and intelligent previews correctly. Thanks again. Your help has been invaluable.

• Photos go 'offline or missing' after editing

  OK, so I've never known it before... I had several modified photos (easily open before) in my Lightroom 3 library for a long time, and I kept backups. Today I opened my library and when I clicked on one of these photos, and it says "the file is offline or missing." I've never touched these photos because I have them in last edition several months ago. After that I updated my library to 3.6 today, I imported more pictures and edited one of them. After exporting this picture retouched, I'm back in my library and find that the photo was "offline or missing! Why did after I have change something and export it, it does this? I want that my files back!

  Problem solved... I needed to remember where exactly my original photos were kept, and they were on my old mac. Thanks for your help!

  Hello kind and useful LR fans! Please do not make fun of me or sigh in horror, but I have about 1 100 photos in LR, which are "offline or missing. So this question is double: first, that the DEVIL I have hurt, and is it possible to add a link to all the photos.

  I read the questions and answers on this forum and I'm still confused. I'm sorry. Of course, Miss me a great concept here. Should LR be linked to the original work on photo? I think there's a copy in LR that it worked on. If it must be linked to the original, this does mean that I have to keep each image either in related to my computer? Who seems not feasible.

  Here's my workflow, any advice on popular improvements. Copy photos from the card on laptop. Sometimes, I'll just copy one or two images on the desktop to work with, when the card has several hundred images I create a folder and move the card in the folder on the desktop once again. So let's say I want to work with a single photo, on my desk. I'm in LR, hit Import, add a few keywords, import photos. Check the balance of whites in library mode, move to develop, play with the image, return to library mode, export. Take the new image (now with a new name, assigned by LR), assign to the folder on the desktop.

  But when I get back to work on the picture, it's 'offline or missing.

  Obviously, I'm missing a sort of step here somewhere I 1 081 total pictures and desktop folder 518.

  When I go to the grid and click the question mark, he mentions a previous place where the photo lived in a folder on my desktop - which may or may not still be there.

  So, in review: how to stop this problem from happening in the future, and how to fix the images already in LR?

  Not quite true... If I were you, using this type of workflow (and I would not, sorry!), then if, instead of putting your files directly on the desktop, create a subfolder there.  And on your drive hard, create an another subfolder _with the name_ even.   Then, after you import your picture of the disc, do whatever you want.  And then, when you're done with it, you move your hard drive... in LR, simply right click on the folder 'disappeared' from your desktop, and then point it to the folder on your hard drive.  It reconnects, and everyone should be happy again.

  In other words, I have to pull all my photos in an external hard drive and then plug the drive hard whenever I use LR, correct? And draw pictures on the desktop that will not be used in LR.

  Man that sucks. I guess I'll get used to it.

  Sorry, but it's actually a 'cleaner' way to work with LR.  And you do not need to move from the hard drive on the desktop... just put in another collection, and you won't see them.  Or, do what I do and report them to not be seen (using filters), now that 3.2rc gave us filters sticky back!

  In any case, the normal workflow for LR shall not move files autour much... it's not really a necessity, if your workflow is effective.  At least that's the theory of leader!

In light of the not the choice I enter the configuration utility. Initially, the SSD has emerged as a foreign configuration but after several attempt to import the configuration, I decided clearly and followed an article on adding back as a RAID 0, but not initialize it, but that no longer works. Don't know if the drive is dead or what since I can't get out of BIOS. Always goes to the error. I guess I have to clear the preserved cache but do not want to lose the mirror. Posted the same problem yesterday, but he does not appear in the forum so I don't know if there is a filter or something. Need help - high-end system for FEA analysis and is necessary.

  Figured it out. Dumped the cache on the controller and added back the lack of table, but it has not initialized. Change the boot device in the BIOS of the controller to the 'new' table; somehow the old VD1 became VD0 and re-added VD0 became VD1 and restarted. System came fine. No idea what caused it, but at least now it's back to work.

  Well, I'm not theresamauser, but I'm having the same problem.  To put it in simpler terms, I'm trying to fix a laptop of HP G71-449WM here.  The operating system has completely disappeared and when I put in the recovery discs (issued by HP) I get no option of language or layout or whatever it is, it gives me a warning about erasing the whole disc to reinstall Windows.  I follow the steps from there.  He comes at the point of the 3 notches.  (1) reformat the Windows hard disk partition.
