Lightroom 5.7 no photo showing for import
I'm having difficulties to import photos. It's all OK, but since yesterday, when I select a valid source (SD card, folder on the portable computer), I see the symbol of the circle "wait" as if Lightroom is to check the contents of the folder, but does not show anything. I tried to create a new catalog (in case there is a limit on photos #) but that did not help. I'm thinking of uninstalling / reinstalling again, although won't lose license information. Any ideas please? Lightroom 5.7, Windows, Dell N5110, processor INTEL I3 - 2310M 10.
Uninstall/reinstall does not cause you to lose license information (whatever that means).
Try this: remove videos from SD card or folder and see if the import happens.
Also, make sure that the Destination section on the right side of the import dialog box is present and expanded.

Why does not create a folder lightroom? (why my photos are not import?)
Recently, I downloaded lightroom cc on my 2008 MacBook. My friend has this program and so I know the ins and outs on how to work everything. I tried to import a folder and pictures and files that my computer had created, but had not created a lightroom folder in the pictures folder under my user profile that hers is appeared in my folder of creative cloud had done. I then tried to send photos from various sources (e.g. directily to camera, sim card, folder, to the download folder, etc.) and the photos were not yet able to import. The first set of 10 photos appear instantly, now 2-5 photos that I keep trying to download from these different sources would never finish import. What is my problem here?
Thanks for the update. Look at where your Lightrooms catalog.
- Go to Lightroom > catalog settings > General
- Select Show
In addition,
- Reset the preferences of Lightroom
- Your catalog backup and close Lightroom
- Hold down Command + Option + shift keys when you start Lightroom and select Yes at the prompt to reset the preferences.

Updated Lightroom CC and now photos won't import
I just did an update yesterday and now I can't watch all the photos to import. No, not raw, jpeg. I drag or click in a folder and nothing happens, they will not appear?
If you do not get same error message? Just an empty area in the import dialog box where the thumbnails of the photos usually appear?
Try this: select copy to the top, make sure you that the Destination Panel on the right side of the import dialog box is present and extended, and then click Add again and be function for a minute or two (but hopefully less)

Lightroom 5-7-1 and NIK Collection. I installed Nik Collection correctly. I followed the instructions from Adobe for importing the plugin in Lightroom. If I go to "photo" / "past to" (I use the Italian version, so I don't know if the translation functions and controls is correct!) happens that all plugins are visible but not active. And even the default plugins are no longer active. I have repeated several times the procedure installation, but without result. Can anyone help? Tiziana
You may need to do a manual install. See if this link helps:

This program is best to use for importing: 14 elements or Lightroom?
I have 14 elements and CC Lightroom. Should what program I use for importing photos from my card reader? Currently, I use elements. Is there a difference or an advantage over using one program rather than another? Please let me know. I tried searching online but you can't find an answer. Thank you!
There is a big difference in these two 'import' functions-
Items simply copy the images from the camera card and place in a folder on your computer, then it shows them as any image viewer or browser might.
Lightroom made two steps-it copies images and places them in a folder, but it also adds a reference to them in the Lightroom Catalog database.
Lightroom has the big advantage of its database capabilities, its Digital Asset Management (DAM).

Lightroom can't see photos of source when you try to import
6 of Lightroom on Apple - updates all day.
In import dialogue Lightroom "see" the new photos of source, either on the hard drive, an external hard drive or camera card. Disks are ok and photos are visible in the folder outside of lightroom structure and are visible to other programs such as picasa, so doesn't seem to be a problem for apple. Problem appeared about 2 weeks ago. Have you tried updates etc but the problem persists. Please help, thanks, Pat Russell

* An audio legend attached to a photo is not imported in a slide show, even if the option include Audio legends as Narration is selected.

In the photo gallery Windows and Windows Live Photo Gallery the 'import' settings have disappeared. I can open the parameters dialog box and tab 'import' itself is still there but it is empty. There are no settings to change. I am still able to import, but I can't change where pictures import to or anything. The parameters are the same as the last time they were available before their disappearance.
Basically: I open the Windows Photo Gallery (Live) and everything works fine except for one thing. When I click on import one file - Options-, there is nothing in the importation of the settings box tab. (There are no settings to change. They are not there.) It is empty. Why is it empty? (If there is already a forum for this question, would someone please direct me to it?)
Hello Dan JC,.
We do not envisage this question or others in Windows 7, however if you have any concerns here is the link to the forum

I am a user of Picasa for a long time conversion to Lightroom. I share photos with dropbox on a MAC, a Windows computers, storing images and the catalog in dropbox. I'm able to share the LR catalog, but on the second system images can be found as a prefix system DB files have different user names. Any ideas?
At the point of Lightroom to another location for photos, follow these instructions:
http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm
Note: If the catalog is constantly being synchronized to DropBox, you will most likely follow these instructions whenever you open the catalog on another computer.

Hi, I just downloaded trial of adobe lightroom. However, when I try to import my images it does allow me to. It shows the preview where I choose my pictures to import, but once I click on import, it is said that it is impossible to import my files, which are in jpg format.
Hi chelseac46438928,
Please make sure that you have permissions to the folder where you try to import images.
Or you can try to change the location of import of images in Lightroom.
Kind regards

6 of Lightroom cannot read my Canon 5 d Mark III photo files, the import message I received: the following files were not imported because they could not be read. I use the same camera that I used Lightroom 5 with the same cards Compact flash. The files are: DK5A0243. CR2
Lightroom 6 trying to copy pictures to a different directory than what is Lightroom 5. That's why you have the problem.
You can change the directory where you are teaching LR 6 to place photos, or change the permissions on this directory to read & write.

My Lightroom 6 suddenly stopped being able to read all the files for import, what hurts?
I was getting well with LR6 but it suddenly stopped being able to read files for import of SD cards - I got the message "unable to read file-. "JPG (1).
I tried several formats CR2, JPG etc but they were all unreadable, I also tried the files that had previously been imported successfully and it was not no more readable.
I use the standalone version downloaded on Amazon and a current Mac with Yosemite.
It is often the destination folder that gets changed, so if you check the permissions on the folder where you copied pictures to in the past, perhaps is no longer where Lightroom is trying to copy the pictures in.
In any case, it's always a permissions issue, and if you need further assistance, we would need to see screenshots of the section of the Destination and the permissions on this folder.

Can I record a Photoshop6 dng file for import back into Lightroom 4
Can I save a Photoshop6 dng file for import back into Lightroom 4. I don't understand why this is not simple.
Hello!
Format DNG aims to be a universal formats of files for files camera raw: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/extend.displayTab2.html?promoid=DTEHA
You can save a DNG camera raw without problem.
Just to go the low left corner of the interface hand and select "save image".
(as explained in the help files here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/creativesuite/cs/using/WS91C1E0BD-9600-42b2-8EBE-1E012ED61058. html #WSB0DC278F-B3DF - 4a 60 - 88BC - B3D6A852C242 )
Or you try to save a file edited in Photoshop as a DNG?
For what purpose, exactly? A TIFF, PSD or PSB file can have a raw file, saved as a smart object (to allow a subsequent reprocessing in Camera Raw) and all the pixels / editing of vector layers intact.
If recording maximize compatibility, it can be opened in Lightroom for cataloging and editing, if necessary.
