Lightroom and the finder (mac)

Where in the finder to find files from Lightroom?

I need to change the permissions of a folder, but I don't know how I do.

Can someone help me?

Thanks in advance!

These are def permissions. I cleaned my disk (after backup of course) and reformatted so it was read/write and then put back my lightroom file on and it works fine. I also downgraded to a previous version of lightroom-i think 6, then the 6.1 update.

FINALLY, after so much time, frustration, tears and fighting with Adobe customer service, it is resolved. It took time, but fortunately worked.

operational back after a terrible few weeks.

  • RELOADED 6.3 Lightroom and the icon is set to "keep in dock". Program is leave whenever I close the window? [was: Hi,]

    Hello

RELOADED 6.3 Lightroom and the icon is set to "keep in dock". Program is leave whenever I close the window?

    Thank you

"Keep in Dock" and close the window of LR is 2 different actions.  "Keep in Dock" means that, even if LR is closed, the LR icon is always in the dock for the reopening.  If you want to keep open LR, do not close the window.  You can minimize LR as suggested above, or you can 'Hide LR LR in the menu.  Cmd + H keyboard shortcut

  • Is it possible to search for text in an Illustrator file from an external source like the Finder (Mac)?

I'm trying to find some similar text strings on hundreds of files.  Specifically, I'm looking for dimensions.  4.50 "for example.  I want to see how many files have this dimension within them so that I can group them for production purposes.

Is there a way to search for text in Illustrator (I use CS5) files from Finder?  Or another program of research?  I use a Mac.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated and would help save me a lot of time.

Yes. While the Finder cannot find the content of .ai files, it can do it with .pdf files. If you change the extension of a .ai in .pdf file, you can use Spotlight to search by content.

This fact, combined with a file rename utility as A Better Finder Rename, you can leave temporarily rename all of your .ai files so they end up in something like 'RENAMED.pdf '. Then, once you have performed your search, find all files ending in RENAMED.pdf, to delete the word "RENAMED" and change the end for .ai again.

Of course, this isn't something you want to get into the habit of doing.

  • Retrocopatibility between the latest Mac OS and the old Mac Mini

    Hello

I m trying to buy a Mac Mini used for my son but I want a machine that can use the latest Mac OS today and at least the next operating system.

I know that older machines cannot use the operating system more recent (I had this problem with a MacBookPro). Where can I get information on this to avoid buying too much a machine old and limited in this respect?

Thank you very much for your help.

    Best.

The Mac mini 2010 aka. Mac mini 4.1 or later supported El Capitan (the current version) and macOS Sierra (next version) of the Mac operating system. While the older models of Mac minis are also supported El Capitan they will not support Sierra.

  • CC with Lightroom and the installation of the Collection of Nik

    Hello world

I am new to using Lightroom and I wonder if someone can help with and issue I'm having. I tried the demo version of LR with the demo version of the collection of NIK. I have now taken a subscription for LR CC but the collection Nik does not work, it says that the demo version is out of print. The question is what I have to buy the collection Nik? I thought it was included in LR CC... Thanks for your help!

    Ian

    Hi ianw33579035,

No, Nik collection is not part of Lightroom CC, so you can buy Nik Collection.

    Kind regards

  • I m going in circles on this site from adobe.  I need to ask for a free upgrade to lightroom and the insturctions tap 'orders and "returns" which doesn't seem to exist.

I just need the exact web address to request a free upgrade.  Why is it so difficult?  I've been circling on this web site for more an hour and the end upward to the same page before each time.

Please tell me how to reach a real man live!

Thank you for your response.  While I was posting here, I finally got a response to my question of the cat.  Chat and download a copy of my Bill, I was able to get a promise of an update to lightroom for 6 of 5.7.1 which I just bought.  I couldn't have lightroom to make recognition of face and then realized it was an old version.  Fortunately, but after 2 hours on the site, I managed to get a promise that the disc is mailed.  I never found my way around this hostile web site.  But now I can ignore it for awhile.  Thanks again for your response.

  • Lightroom and the Windows Version

Hi, just got a Nikon D610. NVR used no Photoshops product before. I would like to get Lightroom. Unfortunately, my version of Windows is Windows Vista. Can I still get Lightroom, and if so, what version should I expect?

Vista is no longer supported in the current version of Lightroom 5.3 which is what you need for the D610. You will need Windows 7 or 8...

  • 5 Lightroom and the location of the photos

    Hello world...

I plan buy 5 Lightroom.  I've never used Lightroom before.

I have limited my primary C: drive space. However, I have 3 other drives in my computer where I put my photos.

When I install Lightroom and try to organize the photos Lightroom fade copy or move the photos on my drive C: of primart where Lightroom would be installed. I have that rather, it wouldn't as I have little space on the C; drive and the photos soon to populate my C; drive. I like to keep my photos on other drives in my computer. Is this possible?

    Thank you

When you import images, Lightroom does not matter the actual photo in the catalog, it generates thumbnails and does not change the images on the disk.  Finally, if you manipulate photos under the heading 'Files', then it is going to move, delete, or edit photos on the disk.  This feature is one of the main reasons I went from iPhoto and Aperture, Lightroom 5.

  • Lightroom and the preview Cache

Hello: I have Lightroom 4 (for several days) and today I got this message: "Lightroom has encountered an error when reading the preview cache and needs to stop smoking. Lightroom will attempt to solve this problem, the next time it starts. Then I click 'OK' and the program closes. I tried several times to start this program, also I tried to restart my computer, but the same message reappears. I have a PC with windows 7, 64 bit, Photoshop 5.

Can you please help me solve this problem?

Try to delete the cache of the preview.

i.e. remove the folder in the same directory that your catalog including the extension is ".lrdata".

    Best?

Note: It'll be slow browsing the library subsequently, until previews are rebuilt.

It will be done automatically by itself, over time, but you can speed that along by using the menu of the library:-> rendering Previews...

(do 1:1 if you have a space & time, otherwise standard).

  • Lightroom and the liquefy tool.

I know that Lightroom does not have the liquefy tool, but I surely wish it did!  I feel like it would be extremely helpful for my work flow if I didn't have to run both Photoshop and Lightroom for a simple as task liquefy.  @Adobe if you PLEASE consider this in your next update < 3

  • Export in Lightroom and the size of resolution

    Hi all

I have a recent Bridge/Photoshop convert Lightroom/Photoshop. I want to start using Lightroom to resize my images instead of Photoshop. But, if I really crop an image and export to 1440 x 960 (at 150 PPI), I run the risk of resizing the image, I don't want to. I understand that there is the "don't resize" button in Lightroom.

My question: what is ignored if Lightroom needs to increase the size of the picture based on my entries and that "do not resize" is checked?

Here is my old workflow in Photoshop (customer wants these dimensions)

    RAW: 5184 x 3456 at 300PPI

Resize to 150 DPI (which becomes dimensions 2592 x 1728)

    Resize to 1440 x 960 to 150 DPI

    Save in sRGB JPG

But, sometimes, if I really crop an image I can't get 1440 x 960 at 150 DPI and must keep the PPI to 300.

    ....

If I export an image really cropped in Lightroom to 1440 x 960-150 DPI (not resizes not verified) and it cannot meet the dimensions to this resolution that get is ignored?

The customer wants what dimensions? If it is for the use of the layout or print a specific dpi AND size in inches must be specified. I suggest to ask the customer to provide both of these numbers.

In your example above, here is what you have:

2592 x 1728 @150 ppi = 17,28 in. x 11.52 in. Until the client tries to do? Makes no sense!

If you specifically want an image which is 1440 x 960 @ 150 dpi, and then use the suggestion provided by 99jon.

"Simply export from the original raw file and choose 1440 long edge & 150 ppp."

About cultures that causes the image is expanded you will know immediately if the Cropped Dimensions as shown in the LR library module are less than 1440 x 960. Use the 'I' key to switch the Loupe selection of information if you do not see the cropped size.

  • When I move large amounts of images in Lightroom and the new folders is always left

When I move a selection of files from one folder to another in lightroom, there is always an error with at least an image and it does not have the shot and ends up. I can then reselect this image and then move it again but just curious as to why this happens because it is a little annoying

    Thank you

Yes, it's a well known problem that obviously has not been set yet. Simply select the remaining files and move again.
