Lightroom DNG bug 6

Hello everyone,

I just found a bug (it's a bug to me) in LR6. When I convert RAW Dng files, LR6 apparently saves the development parameters in the DNG format.
My files from 2014, all published with LR5, do not contain these parameters. These are normal dng files. My LR6, however, exports changes in brightness, contrast etc. in the dng file.
As I understand the question, it is completely false. I ran a few tests including the proof of my point of view.
When I changed the parameters of development, (color stuff) the converted dng had look very different from that of the first dng.
This cant be right.

Greetings

With the files of any type, conversion of RAW file formats DNG, native DNG files created by a camera, whatever, the changes are always stored in the DNG file. As opposed to creating an XMP Sidecar file.

If you take any other raw file and make changes in it, and then convert/export/Whatever this a DNG file, it will be included all changes you have made. If you use the Adobe DNG converter program to first convert the raw files to DNG, then they have no retouching. If you use Lightroom to each copy as DNG on import / Convert/export to DNG after import those newly created DNG files will have the default settings within LR, IE they edits applied.

Changes in the DNG file storage has been the way LR worked from the very beginning, LR1 and Adobe Camera Raw before LR was released.

In fact, I think that it is a FEATURE of the DNG file format. If you do not have an additional file, drag, the XMP file.

  • Cropping in Lightroom presets bug

My client wants me to crop their images to 2600 x 2000 pixels. When I try to define this relationship like Lightroom preset cropping it will not allow him. Instead it by default 8.5 x 11, which translates processed 2600 x 2009 pixel, image sizes or 2588 x 2000 pixels.

This vagueness cropping is very annoying because I have to spend time re-crop my images processed using a Photoshop action to the specifications requested my client.

This bug occurs also with many other cropping ratios if they are close (but not the same) as the existing Lightroom presets of harvest. You can solve this problem? I think it is a serious failure that Lightroom CAN create images at certain specified dimensions.

  • Lightroom 6 bug fixes?

I just downloaded and installed Lightroom 6. It is not the CC version. I met a number of bugs/performance 6.0 problems. I see that the version 6.3 has been released with many bug fixes.  I downloaded the patch and it doesn't work on my MacBook Pro, OSX 10.9.5. And on the Help menu, updates is greyed out (not adjustable). Since I am not a subscriber to the CC version, does that mean that I couldn't access to updates for bug fixes? If this is not the case, why do I not get the latest version with fixed bugs when I purchased and downloaded the program a few days ago? Thanks for your help.

  • Lightroom DNG "Edit In" Photoshop CC 2014 5.5 does not (Mac)

I just upgraded to 5.5 of Lightroom and Photoshop CC 2014 today and now in Lightroom when I select a DNG file and click "Edit in Photoshop CC 2014", Photoshop appears but nothing else happens. The file does not open.

I can copy the DNG file to my desktop and open it with Photoshop directly and that works. In addition, by selecting a PSD file in Lightroom and make the "Edit In" Photoshop work. Only with files DNG is 'Edit In' inoperative.

It worked before the big update of today.

    Any ideas? Thank you!

  • Errors using Lightroom DNG recover edge plugin

I try DNG recover edge the new Adobe Labs' 4.2 Lightroom plug-in, but I'm having some trouble on the Canon 5 d Mark II and Mark III images.

    The plug-in:

    http://labs.Adobe.com/downloads/lightroomplugins.html

    http://labsdownload.Adobe.com/pub/labs/lightroomplugins/lightroomplugins_dngre_docs.PDF

When I apply it to an image uncut, I often get this error message: "an error internal produced.?: 0: attempt to compare nil with number" when I get this message, also, after that, I have to manually cancel the process or else it works apparently indefinitely without any result.

I got this error message that all but a time to use the plug-in on my first attempt to get this working.

An exception was when it appeared to work, creating a new DNG with the suffix "_full" on the name of the file. However, it has increased the DNG size by a very small amount. Lightroom always reports its size as even, 5760 x 3840 pixels in the frame surrounding the image in the library and in the text information superimposed (hit 'I' to reveal). The metadata panel displays the largest size of 5796 x 3870.

After that, the plugin seems to work, but he created an image that was labeled '2 of 2' with a black frame around it in the library module. However, I couldn't find 1 of 2.

Then I quit and restarted Lightroom, and both images appeared, grouped stacked image. Comparing the two pictures, however, there was no difference, if the metadata Panel said that whoever has recovered edges should have more pixels.

Someone else from these errors? They seem to be less of a problem after my restart Lightroom, but the plugin still seems to be wrong to behave in a certain way.

    Hello Stephen,

Lightroom will always show you the dimension cropped in the cell of the grid and layering of information. The original and cropped dimensions appear in the metadata Panel.

As far as to see your username of cultures with the 5 d Mark III files - if I remember correctly, you must explicitly assign 'Add Info of cropping' on the menu of the camera.

And finally, I am unable to reproduce the error you report with the plug-in. Maybe you can provide me with a file that triggers the question.

    Thank you

  • Lightroom update bugs

sinds the new updated Lightroom worked incorrectly, the presets preview no longer works, and it takes very long before an adjustment are updates to the photo. It's very annoying. It is even so bad that I can't work with it more. and sometimes the photos that are not in the landscape are considered in the landscape, it stretches, it's really ugly.  I have a laptop really high-end, it isn't the problem. I hope someone knows how to get the old Lightroom or solve this problem.

  • 6.5 Lightroom crashes at startup to the top

I have a stand alone LR 6.5 on MacBook running Mavericks 10.9.5

Everything worked great to this that today ' today when I tried to use the NIK plug-ins Collection. I chose to edit a TIFF with Lightroom .dng file copy in Nik Collection output sharpening - the open plug but Lightroom exported file does not load correctly ie. I could see the name of the file, but the screen showed the image but a component of black and white. All the sliders worked, but I couldn't see the image at all. I went with the Collection of NIK and found this:

Crashes on Mac OS - Nik Collection help

I followed the instructions and deleted duplicates (gray and disabled) fonts Arial thinking it would help.

After that, I returned to LR and tried again the plug-in. The same thing happened - that is in black and white graph image pane. I tried saving the file and export to LR. The exported TIFF file appeared in LR, but it was black on the preview pane. After that I couldn't open LR - it crashed everytime I try to open it.

I think the file exported somehow got corrupted, but I don't know how to solve the problem. I can't find answers online.

Thank you, but this isn't the question of my GPU power (I understand that this might help when a plug-in does not work). I have already uninstalled the Nik Collection of my HD before you try to reopen LR and couldn't.

In any case, I've sorted the problem - I found the answer on the Queen of Lightroom Blog which lists many troubleshooting tips. All I had to do was to restore LR preference by pressing Alt + Shift while launching the program. Maybe you could put these tips on Adobe's Web site as there is very little there in terms of aid.

Could answer you my question if there is a way to delete an individual file from the main catalogue in LR? Or is it impossible?

    Thank you

  • import of catalog items to Lightroom

I am a user of long-standing Photoshop Elements (from 1 Album) and decided to try Lightroom. I tried several ways to add photos to a catalog of many problems. I could use a little help on that before I trash this program.

I first tried the obvious elements catalogue import (I use PSE14 on a Mac with Lightroom all current cloud). All uploaded photos of two catalogues of items. But I realized that sort it by date of capture has been completely ruined. Since I've had the same info in elements I could compare the photo order and could find no reason.

I had a few problems importing tag so so tried again with a DB fresh after control of the repair, to repair, optimize, and finally to write metadata in files, then repeat the import. Same questions.

I tried another DB fresh and direct import picture. Different results but so was worse, probably because of corrections catalog items over the years. I also lost followed of course version which I use. Dead end.

The combined database is large enough - 53000 points - for most of the pictures but also videos in different formats. Results are the same, if I do a single database or both combined.

I guess that if I had started with this program so the results might have been different, but it seems that I have tried all reasonable paths (including a couple of long chat with technical support sessions). I don't do anything that weird so either Lightroom is bug or I'm GROUND.

Any idea is appreciated. I have seem some posts on similar problems, but they seemed quite old and probably are no longer valid.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, there is a bug that prevents some files to be correctly classified in chronological order.

You can use the filter bar, as I have explained, to call your pictures by year, year/month or year/month/day.

  • Lightroom CC 2015, error Publishing Services

Since upgraded Lightroom, the strangest thing is happening with Services publish (on hard disk).  I had an existing exporters published images of Service to publish on my hard drive.  Since the upgrade, it keep randomly designating images as "modified" and requiring a re-issue.  At first, I thought I must have made a few minor changes and do not forget, but this is the case even when I not made any changes to all images.  In fact, he literally cycles images to the top of the 'updated images to update the re - release' while watching.  In other words, whenever I just click on the collection, images just start in the section "published" endangered and going back to the section "changed" No changes were made too the Services to publish settings. Quite bizarre.  Everyone knows this?  Is there a way to stop it?

I have been dealing with this for months, with all images published going directly to "modified to publish new photos". It has been frustrating.

  • Lightroom 4.1 exports exports original edited photos

Export of files on hard disk with the original item defined for the file type.      DNG file appears on the directory exported as photo cropped / mounted and there is no sidecar files.

When I click on the history panel for this panel to export, it evokes the picture in the non cropped version just as I wish.

I did a unclick on "stir fast load data" in the preferences and then a preview dng update as the fix for the problems of the bands when you view dng files in irfanview and picassa and that worked, but the hope that it does not my problem described above.

    See you soon,.

    Byron

I just he, irfanview has a switch in their preferences to load or not load jpg embedded in raw files when you open the file first and it works great

It does not expose a hole in lightroom / bridge adobe etc which should be plugged in at any given time.    Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and Richard for the tips on the embedded image.   When looking for this, I first met Pentax users faced with the problem of gangs in external viewers dng files and this is a pretty serious problem too good that must be worked by a person (don't know which software should be changed, but adobe should take the initiative on the analysis / solutions).

    See you soon,.

    Byron

PS: my complaint is specific: the embedded jpg in dng format should reflect the raw photo in the dng.     If I exit an orginal lightroom dng, then shipped it jpg for this dng file should also be original version (not the transformed / cropped).    A second point, all Adobe products when you handle dng files should use the data raw dng rather than the embedded jpg data, it is not clear at all to me that this is the case.       At the same time I had a lot more respect for the DNG, yet appreciate it, but

  • Conversion of RAW to DNG will keep previous changes already made in LR 2.5?

I shoot RAW with a Panasonic DMC-FZ50.  The changes I made to the files Raw will be intact if I convert my current library of RAW to DNG or changes will be lost?  I currently have to save all the changes XMP file as well.  I'm under LR2.5 in Windows Vista 64-bit Home Edition.

    Thank you

Be sure to convert in Lightroom (in one of the menus)! If you use the outside of Lightroom DNG Converter, you will lose the connection to your images. Finally, said also ambient, you keep the changes, but your Sidecar is not recovered. Backups of the metadata and change the settings are now written in the dng files instead of in the xmp files. I think that there is something that you will lose, which is the State of origin of the image in the split screen to develop. It will now be the State in which was the image when convert you to DNG.
