Lightroom export options?

I'm having a terrible time trying to understand export options in lightroom 5. I read everything that google could deliver me and I find myself still lost.

I want to export photos and sharpen their export. I want to export them in specific folders specified by size; a case of 4 x 6, 5 x 7 or even a folder of 24 x 36.

I'm lost when it comes to the difference between 'Width and height' or 'Dimensions' what is the difference between the two?

I am able to type 4 x 6 intp the boxes on either, but I do not know which option is preferable to use, or if they will give me results of difference?

Ive read dimensions is not always resize the dimensions say you, but it is resized 'close' on these dimensions that you selected... That makes sense for me? Why not??

should I always just export through 'width and height' to make things easy? Please UN confused me? y at - it of the advantages and disadvantages to export one way or the other?

Thank you very much!!!

What is is dimensions will all simply automatically rotate between landscape and portrait for me?

It's a good way of saying that it

These two sites say that the dimensions are not resized to exact dimensions.

What they say, it's not exact dimensions and proportions. If the proportions of the picture is 4 x 6, and you select that you want 5 x 7 in the export dialog box, you will get a picture that comes as close as possible 5 x 7, I think that in all these situations, it is more or less a pixel to be the exact original proportions. This happens when the aspect ratio is inconsistent.

It should not be a problem if the choice of export dialog box is the exact same report as the photo itself.

I have LR6 CC. It has been working fine, including the export of files like JPEG and TIFF files. Yesterday, I've linked to LR Mobile and now cannot export. I click on 'export', get the selection pane, but the lower part of the button 'export' right in the library module says "synchronization metadata" or "sync" setting", where it should say 'export '. I guess I have something clicked by mistake. Help!

You are welcome, I suggest you go please Lightroom preferences.

And the Interface tab, then please change the font size to small.

Help! It takes me lots of hours to convert my photos in PNG, one at a time after have exported them out of LIGHTROOM! Am I missing something? Why PNG is not an export option?

It's pretty lame to say that one can use JPEG instead.  Apart from the technical arguments about issues like the trend, it takes up to the user to select the file format that they need for their own purposes.  General-purpose image processing tools should support as many formats as possible and there is no technical excuse for failing to support a non-owner format that is widely used.   Arguing that there are alternatives, it's like telling a painter 'orange' is not necessary since you can use red or white blend Brown, or as a set of professional without Phillips head screwdrivers.

If you want the arguments for the use of the PNG in the first place, I suggest searching for "Why use the PNG format.

How can I transfer a file of 532 images, which have been improved in Lightroom, to another computer without

    My computer will not export.

It is not a question of DISK SPACE.

It is a memory problem. You don't have enough MEMORY.

Temporarily, you should try to export with all other applications closed. In the long term, you must have BOTH a 64-bit operating system and 8 GB of memory.

If I were you, I would ask your computer to change the computer to a 64-bit operating system.

  • iPhoto - JPEG with Lightroom export files

    Dear community,

I take my Photos in RAW format and use Adobe Lightroom for workflow management and the work of any photo. As a result, I create two sets of JPEG files: the full-size images are stored on my file server, while the reduced size JPEGs (approx. 1200 x 1600) I keep on my MacBook Pro. Date & time of the images exported JPEG is different to the actual hours when they were taken, I get a problem during their import in iPhoto because iPhoto 'think' that have all been taken recently. This creates a huge mess in iPhoto. I'm talking about 17,000 photos taken between 1999-2015. Given that I exported the entire stack at the same time, iPhoto shows them as taken today after importation. Photos are all stored in an appropriate folder structure (event/year).

Now my question: How can I teach iPhoto to use the structure of folders to sort the photos in the right way? As I have said, without the pictures in chronological order, they are useless. And so is iPhoto. Why do they want to do? Simple answer, I would like to share my photos on my Apple devices and for this, iPhoto would be just perfect.

Can someone help me with this or is that someone has a better idea for the RAW-> Lightroom-> export-> stream Jpeg iPhoto work?

    Thank you very much!

    Hans

It's down to how you export from Lightroom. iPhoto Gets the date and time of the photo Exif metadata and uses only the data of the file if it is missing. Check your LR export procedures to write Exif data in the exported files.

So, this is the solution to your problem.

  • Lightroom export: Size of small files

    Evening,

I recently started using Lightroom after years of using Photoshop. One thing that I find difficult to understand, export.

After editing just one portrait as my first practice in Lightroom, I saved the file as 100% quality and JPEG. This resulted in a tiny 872 kb file size. Confused, I have reproduced the simple in Photoshop, saved as a full quality JPEG editing process and this resulted in a file size of 9 MB.

Side by side, expanded, I see no difference in quality. I noticed that the recorded image Lightroom has 240 dpi and Photoshop image 72 dpi.

Then, I went back to Lightroom and saved the same image as. TIF, resulting in a file size of 107 MB with no visible improvement in quality.

Lightroom is known for tiny file sizes? I'm doing something wrong? I do not understand why, how and what is happening with the sizes of export and file in Lightroom. I'd like an explanation.

Looks like you have checked resize it to fit, or checked the limit of the file size to... in the Lightroom export dialog.

Other than that, the file size is not a good indicator of the quality of the image - pixel dimensions are.

PPI is also devoid of meaning and irrelevant unless you want to print the image. PPI is metadata used by printer drivers to calculate the physical dimensions of the impression.

TIFF files are much larger than the jpg file size because they are uncompressed or use lossless compression, which is much less efficient than the jpg (lossy) compression. TIFF files can also be 16 - bit, which are twice the size of 8-bit files.

  • Lightroom - exported too small jpg

When exporting my images raw in Lightroom I convert them to DNG, which are about 28 000 Ko.  When I export my images in jpg, they are usually only about 4-5 MB is enough but sometimes I need a larger jpg. How can I control / increase the size of the exported jpg images.  I understand that jpg is compressed, but it's a huge compression.

Like I said for most of my work is enough, but I wish I had more large file size

Lol you want a larger size of the image, not a larger file. The size of the image, in pixels or megapixels, determines if you can make enlargements or not, and what will be the quality of these extensions (as well as setting the quality slider). The size of the file is completely and totally irrelevant to the issue of can make you enlargements and does not determine the quality of the image or the quality of any enlargements. To get a larger size image, you can export the photo in Lightroom by enlarging the image in the section of resizing the Image of the Lightroom export dialog box.

  • Builder export options

I looked in this document: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/generate-assets-layers.html

It does not appear there are options for the export of the .gif files? I would like to be able to set the quality of the colors and the color mate. Isn't this possible?

This seems like something that should be included for a web export option, it is not?

Someone knows how to do this or do I just have to continue to use the slice and dice method?

The current as syntax is managed by the code generator is listed here: generate Web assets Spec functional Wiki adobe-photoshop/generator-assets · GitHub

But the answer to your question is no, there is no additional options for the export of files .gif with the generator.

    BASIC

.png - png 32 by default. Support the flavors are: .png8, .png24, .png32

    .jpg - default quality is 9 (90%). Options include: .jpg(1-10), .jpg(1-100%)

.gif - based transparency alpha, no options

But if you can add an extra step, maybe you can make an action or a droplet to save for web with options on all auto-generated assets.

RE: transparent .gif... If you make an empty layer with a name like "spacer.gif" or sommat, then add a layer mask, however large, the layer mask is, what size is your transparent .gif. For example. you make a layer with a mask showing 4 x piece pixel, you get a transparent gif 4 x 4.
