• Lightroom has changed my photos from raw to JPG on its own

  I imported the 150 pictures my Nikon D5100 raw and edited all.

  Then, I imported a raw to another (same apparatus) SD card file in the same catalog and edited this photo.

  All of a sudden all of the 150 photos I had originally imported in my catalogue in flood were now JPG.

  Raw only in the entire catalog photo was the only one I brought the second SD card.

  What the hell happened?  I click No weird button.  I did any kind of export or superfluous things.

  I did:

  1 import raw 150 photos and edit them

  2 import 1 raw from a second SD card photo and edit

  3 suddenly all my raw 150 photos were photos JPG and raw no more

  I use Lightroom with OSX 10.8.3 4.4

  Ooops... I apologize for posting this!  Operator error.  All the photos have been JPG all along.  I never shoot JPG so I don't know how I managed to get the camera to shoot in JPG this morning, but he did... just has not noticed until after I downloaded the raw of the other card photo.

  Has disappeared? Try file-> open the new item, and then select each illustrated catalog until you find the catalog with your photos.

  If this does not work, please post a screenshot of the problem.

• Relocation of Lightroom: metadata changed / conflict

  I recently had to restore the factory settings on my computer.  It was uninstall and reinstall Lightroom.  After this painful process, my images now have one of the two alarming icons in the upper right corner.

  I understand that these indicate:

  • pointing arrow up: metadata was changed externally
  • exclamation point: metadata a conflict

  Which ever I press, I get the same error message.  Please see the image below:

  

  Some images I edited in Lightroom only and others I exported to Nik or Photoshop to change.

  Whatever it is, I want my images to keep the changes that I made.  And I would do a lot to change so that I don't have these arrows upward and the exclamation marks on any of my images in the catalog.

  FYI - my Lightroom Catalog is on an external drive.

  As a general rule, all of your changes to the image and changes to metadata are stored in the Lightroom Catalog.  Depending on the options that you have defined, and if you have invoked some orders, changes and metadata can also be stored in files or in sidecar .xmp (for the raws).  So when you have restored your computer, as long as you used the latest version of your catalog folder, you have all of your changes and metadata.

  The icon 'Metadata has changed outside' means that LR think an external application changed the metadata from the image file after the last time that a change has been made in LR.

  The icon 'Metadata a conflict' mean that LR thinks that, since the last time RL read the metadata of the file, the changes to the metadata of the image has been made within the LR and by an external application.

  I think what happens is that the process of restoring your computer has changed the date of last modification of most of your files (this is the date maintained by OS X and Windows, whenever a file of any type is changed).  This change dates of confuses LR.

  Assuming that this is what happened, it is relatively harmless.  To get rid of the warning icons, select all images and make the metadata > save metadata to file.  If you have a very large catalog, this could take a long time to complete, and it may cause your program to backup re - backup images. However, to be on the safe side, I recommend making sure that you have a backup of the two catalog folder itself and your image of all files before you do.

  I store my external pictures on 2 hardrives. Harddrive (a) photos 2009-2013 and harddrive (b) photos 2014-2016. LR is spent somehow the contents of these drives in the menu "files" (left panel), so that it looks like (a) contained thereon and vice versa (b).   I repost it here. I do have a solution.

  The problem is as the title. I had this problem all of a sudden when I tried to import a slideshow movie to my computer. After that, this problem always occurs when I click on "slideshow". See the youtube below.

  I have not changed anything on my computer. I have totally no idea for it and he has no clue.

  Here's the list of what I've already done some advises.

  (1) unchecked GPU

  (2) download current QuickTime

  (3) reset the Lightroom preferences (remove the preference)

  (4) Lightroom uninstalled and reinstalled again

  (5) is 'use autobahn = true' to 'using autobahn = false '.

  But nothing has changed so far.

  This problem is really mess up of my work for my client. I need to solve this problem as soon as possible.

  Oh my God I fixed it. Lucy was on the right track, so was Tatiana, but it was a little different.   This is exactly how Lightroom is supposed to work. In the library Module when you are in the grid view, you'll have a pointer. When you are in Wolf mode and the cursor is over the image it becomes a magnifying glass, but when he is on one of the side panels, it becomes a pointer. When the cursor is a mangifier and you click on it, the image will be enlarged for the amount indicated on the slider in the toolbar at the bottom of the image. The cursor becomes a hand tool, so you can pan around the image.

  When no particular tool has been selected in the develop module, and the cursor is over the image, it will act just like he does in the library Module. When a tool has been chosen, the cursor becomes representative of the tool used. i.e. the crop tool is presented as the folded squares, spotting brush shows that the line of sight with a double circle etc.. When the cursor is on one of the side panels, it becomes the typical slider.

  Basically, the cursor is context-sensitive.

• Importing old photos in lightroom-date changed!

  I'm trying to import old NEF files in Lightroom 4.4 and convert to DNG at the same time.  Previously it worked well.  A problem has developed a couple of days.  Rather than name the folder with the date, the photos were taken, the year has changed.  I don't know why he has changed, but the change has been consistent on several attempts.  The photograph were made in 2010.  Now when I import them, the date changes in 2011.  For example, a folder named "2010-18-05" changes to 2011-05-18.  The files in the folder also change the date of 2011.

  Any suggestion is welcome.

  Not really sure why his is going on, but have you tried the stand alone DNG Converter. You can batch convert a whole folder of raw images and then put in LR, using import > Add.
