Lightroom PAINFULLY slow.  Someone at - it a cure?

Lightroom is running PAINFULLY slow.  The question is more exacerbated when spotting, how it is almost impossible to do the work.

I had this problem repeatedly with lightroom, and others have as well.  It seems that no solution for it.  It really seems as if no one at Adobe care half of these questions.

I'm running a PC with the following specifications, and so I do not understand the reason for the delay.

CPU: Intel Core i7 - 4930K

Graphics card: ASUS STRIX GTX970

OS drive: Samsung 850 Pro

Project drive: Samsung 950 Pro

MB: ASUS P9X79 PRO

RAM: 32GB

I've attached a screenshot of my system features:

What version of Lightroom?

The question is more exacerbated when spotting, how it is almost impossible to do the work.

Yes, it's a drawback known spot removal/adjustment Brush tool, if you do a lot of spotting or adjustment of brush, Lightroom slows down.

Some things you can try

  • If Lightroom 6 or Lightroom CC, disable the GPU acceleration
  • Do all your spot healing/brushing as the next ╔diter last step
  • The final stage of editing, turn on the calibration of the lens (if desired)
  • Get a faster processor

If none of that works, make room and healing brush in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.

NOTICE: I speak for myself only (and certainly not for Adobe, I have does not work and never worked for), but this non-destructive editing technology they built in Lightroom is a fantastic technology. except in the case where you do a lot of brushing or healing spot, in which case the technology requires have a lot more power than most computers, and so for a lot of brushing or healing spot, technology fails.

  • Satellite Pro A40 works now painfully slow

Hi all, I have a satellite pro a40 which has served me well for a long time here.

Although it runs painfully slow, now all the programs, including the internet despite my speed of 4 MB.

I have zone alarm that made regular virus and spyware scans, I tried to defrag and disk clean up but not of the above solve the problem long term.

Short of ideas, if anyone out there can suggest a remedy? Thank you.

    Hi Urbansafari,

There are a few things you can try to improve the speed of your A40 - I guess you're talking about the speed (or lack thereof!) to which your laptop seems to be tasks such as opening new windows, programs etc.?

The first thing to do is to look at the list of all programs start; Uninstall anything you don't need really or use is a good way of clutches back disk space (Windows uses hard disk as 'virtual memory' space to supplement the RAM mounted inside).

The next thing to do is look at what programs are started in the background when you start Windows. To do this, click Start, then run and type msconfig. In the window that opens, click on the start right tab and you will see a drop-down list of all the programs that start with Windows. Without recognition program names, it may be best to leave them because they can be processes required by Windows. Uncheck all the programs you want to start automatically the next time you turn on the computer. When you are done, click on save and you will be prompted to restart the A40 for the changes to take effect.

It is perhaps that a new installation of Windows is needed to delete all the temporary files and the old registry entries that have accumulated to over time, in which case backup all your data before running the recovery disc.

One last thing to consider is the weather you may qualify for an upgrade memory HDD largest capacity, which are both reasonably good solutions worked for a slow running computer.

  • Why is my cc lightroom so slow to load it takes 1 1/2 minutes to open

Why is my cc lightroom so slow to load it takes 1 1/2 minutes to open

    Hi harry,.

I had the same problem, but he found the solution by myself today.  I hope it will work for you.  Make sure that LR - CC is closed.  Start by opening the creative cloud Manager.  Click on the gear and select Preferences, then disconnect the cloud Manager.  You will get a window asking to confirm, click ok.  Back in the open again and sign creative cloud Manager.  Open LR - CC.  If you have notifications on the value, you will get a notification that the license was upheld and LR - CC opens immediately.

    I hope this helps!

  • AE painfully slow and prone to crashes

Despite a new computer powerful legacy is painfully slow and prone to accidents, often with 'sorry' messages about this duty planting now. some tips to make it faster and more stable? I already use the resolution quarter instead of full because I prefer the same speed if with blurry images. I am also very in the Organization of the project and do not have something heavy, but the program is like a little baby, often while rendering for previewing of the ram drive and slows down like crazy and often crashes. It also seems to ignore the Task Manager end tasks when frozen, forcing me to wait longer and then takes a lot of time for me to reopen it, often just for re - crash after clicking on the icon of the drive ram again. I use an i5 QuadCore 8 GB windows 8.1 office and after effects cs6

8 GB of RAM could be considered "a bit high" for Windows if you are just in MS Word or Internet Explorer, but for the AE, you're barely satisfying the minimum requirements.  I have 48 GB and it's barely enough for draft resolutions (4K) more complicated or higher.

    System requirements | After Effects

Try to reduce the RAM reserved for other applications (preferences > memory & multiprocessing > RAM for other applications), using an SSD for your OS/programs and using an SSD for your caches.

Some of the information below is useful (although somewhat outdated specifically regarding Ray Tracing).

  • Lightroom 2015.6 Painfully slow since update

I use Windows 10, 16G memory, processor GPU active.  Since the upgrade to 2015.6 a few days ago, the development is very slow.  Very slow movement of the photo for the photo and the delay in introducing changes.  Everyone knows about these problems?  Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

    Richard

Memory leak was identified in LR 6.6 and 2015.6 CC: Lightroom 2015.6 extremely slow. Community customer Photoshop family

My system with 12 GB memory begins to slow from LR reaches about 50% memory usage and then worsens when you browse or edit images in the develop module. It will cause lag adjustment brush which worsens when you change pictures more. This is regardless of the setting of GPU in LR preferences. Some have found reducing the window of LR, wait 2-3 seconds, and then maximize it frees additional memory. In my tests, it helped some, but closing and recovery then LR releases even more memory. In addition, if you rarely shutdown and restart your system, this can reduce the amount of available memory and other issues. I suggest to close your system at least once a week. The maximum amount of memory will become available for use by LR during the next reboot.

That's all you can do for now until an update with a fix is released.

For every person who complains that Lightroom is much slower on their windows machine, you can find a person who complains that Lightroom is much slower on their Mac and their PC. It's really hard to understand. As I said, sometimes have enabled graphic acceleration slows down really Lightroom, but in recent versions of Lightroom, which really improved to the point now I turned it on my machines and it feels certainly faster that turned it off. I have an older retina THAT MBP like you and it's pretty amazing to see how it holds up even against several with more modern machines. That said, this monster machine should be much faster operating properly said. It could be that Lightroom 12 - core CPU running might actually be faster than using the GPU. If it's windows or Mac OS should really make very little difference. If you have a persistent slow, there are a few things to try to test. One is to reset your Lightroom preferences. People have reported slowdowns on machines which have been updated several times to more recent versions of Lightroom, where sometimes a strange preference file corruption can cause very slow Lightroom behaviors. This is done by restarting Lightroom and now the shift and ALT. You should get a dialog like this one: these http://lightroomkillertips.com/something-acting-weird-try-resetting-lightroom-ccs-preferen /

Other causes of Lightroom slow behavior specific to your case may be a hyperactive anti-virus software that renumerisations your file catalog each time you make a change, having always executed on Lightroom, review 1:1 in the background, face recognition automatic writing .xmp and several other causes of construction. It would be wise to investigate some of them.

  • Why is mobile download of lightroom so slow?

    Hello!

I tried Lightroom mobile on iPad, and after editing a few files, I tried to sync them and pick them up on my desk.

I managed to download 8 images in 4 hours (jpegs... not even raws: Maybe 25 MB in total...).

I tried Wifi and 4g... I don't understand why it is so slow, since it should be more than suficient to achieve the same result in a few minutes with this kind of connection.

I have the latest version of the app and LR, no outdated material, and even if my internet connection is not the best, uploads are usually much faster than that.

There is no way I'm going to use the application for raw editing if it remains like this.

A friend had the same problem... but I could find no response after a bit of research.

Is this a known issue? Is it possible to solve?

    Hi megalomaniac,

Please follow the steps mentioned in this thread Mobile Sync slow or blocked on Lightroom CC 2015.5.1

Let us know if that helps.

    Kind regards

  • Lightroom very slow speed

If my catalog has lots of photos in there - and LR is running slowly - I should start a new catalog to help my editing speed. Everything has slowed down considerably!

    Hello

Yes you're right. Please try to uncheck the option "use graphics processor.

Normally, Lightroom automatically checks if there is a new version available. To force the audit you can go to the Help menu and then click on "Updates" (I don't know exactly how this point is named in the English version, I work with a German version).

  • CS6 PC saving .eps files is painfully slow

Hi - I work in Illustrator CS6 on a PC and find the .eps files is very slow.

    • I don't have the option to save as .ai file, my company is demanding that save us as .eps
    • It's okay if it's a new file or I save changes to an existing file, it is still slow
    • No matter if I save in our network or my office file, it is still slow
    • I use Extensis Suitcase Fusion 3 although it is generally not open. I read that this can significantly slow down the process. I have no control over the fact that I use version 3 the most recent vs - I use that gives me my business. If someone out there has had this experience and found it better with the latest version of suitcase (6, I think?) please let me know.
    • Extensis Suitcase Fusion is the problem, that someone can recommend a program of font management that works best with Adobe products and will mitigate this slow? If I can show a valid reason for the purchase of different font management software, I may be able to convince management to switch to a different software with our next update.

Thank you to all those who respond-

    Leslie

The Extensis software on your machine is now 3 versions obsolete and probably has something to do with your problem. Try to leave, go into the Plugins folder in the Presets folder application and move the plugin Extensis on the desktop. HAVE to reboot and see if that helps.

  • NEED HELP URGENT! 5.2 Lightroom runs slow on my new PC

    Hi all!

Thank you for the time you spend reading this! I am very grateful!

A few months ago, I decided to connect my laptop to a Full HD monitor so that I can hopefully get a better resolution when editing photos. I bought the monitor but BAM! It was all lagy and I realized that my laptop is not good enough to run things smoothly (although it may do so at its native resolution perfectly 720 p) so, as a student, I started to work and to invest the money to buy a computer case and use it with the monitor that I had already bought for no reason!

So, I built my new PC recently and I put the (relatively) decent material about it but I still have the same problem

Here are the specs of my PC:

    Windows 7 SP1 64 bit

    RAM: 8 GB DDR3 1600

    Processor: AMD FX-8320 8-core 3.5 Ghz

MB: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. M5A97 R2.0 (Socket 942)

Graphics card: 1024MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series (GB)

Hard drive: 500 GB Western Digital SATA 3

Here's the video of my delay in the computer:

    http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=xtaKV1wH9pY

(the video is from 4.4 lightroom but 5.2 is the same)

I know that some of you will say that's not SSD, so it's slow, but I don't think that my hard drive is causing a problem. Laptop from my friend who has specifications lower than mine (a 2.5 HDD), lower map low graphics + CPU (but Intel i7) performs much better and is much smoother (is almost perfect) in the culture and the change of exposure.

What do you think is the problem? It's shit AMD processor that is the cause, or is - this lightroom which is not compatible with my processor? What parts should I change as appropriate, or do I return everything and work with lower resolution on my laptop

I really need help with this, because if I can't solve this problem, I have to return the PC and get refund because there will be no use for me.

Very well! So, what's up on my new processor and motherboard! I will also avoid AMD for the rest of my life (as long as I use Lightroom!)

  • Avg.Size of catalogs? Lightroom is slow...

I am currently using a single large catalog to work from. There's more 12 000 photos in many files on several disks. What are the typical amount of people put in the catalogs of photos?

Trying to get rid of certain tasks on a landscape photo with the spot removal tool became very slow. I have already applied some brushes and gradient. Is this amount of tweaking too for Lightroom?

The Windows Task Manager shows Lightroom using 1 005 094 megs of ram as I type this.

    My features are...

    Lightroom 2.4

    Win Vista 32

    Intel Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz

    4 GB of Ram

Run an optimization, it is also the first thing I would do. The other thing is to ask what the video card - there were problems with nVidia cards and more precisely with utilities from nVidia that are disconnected.

  • iMac is painfully slow startup

    Hello

It is has been a problem for a while, but seems to have slightly worsened with El Capitan. After start-up or a restart, it is a good 6-8 minutes - without exaggeration - until my computer can begin to open programs without huge lag. About 10 minutes until it is at full speed.

    iMac (27 inch, end of 2013), 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Any ideas, or is this normal? I repaired disk permissions, flushed trash and generally keep the machine running as clean as possible without being an expert.

    Thank you.

It is not normal, not even remotely.

Backup everything then check your hard drive. Slow start ups can be a symptom of a failing drive.

  • Update El Capitan (to 10.11.3), now, many web pages are painfully slow...?

I've recently updated El Capitan 10.11.3 on my macbook pro and many / most of the web pages are now very slow to load.  I checked it is not my wifi connection or service and none of my other devices have the problem.  I have this problem with a unit that I've just updated.

    Any suggestions?

    Info on the device:

MacBook Pro (retina 15 "mid 2014)

2.8 CPU clocked at GHz Intel Core i7

    16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM

Intel Pro Iris 1536 MB graphics card

You run any kind of antivirus, cleaner, optimizer, or anything like that?

  • HP PSC 1315 scanning painfully slow with HP 13.1 on Windows 7 Solution Center

I just upgraded to Windows 7 Premium 32 bit XP and installed the HP Solution Center 13.1 software.  I created my preferences of scanning for documents at 200 dpi with shades of gray and when I scan a document, the scanner is extremely slow and it looks like it would if I were scanning at 1200 dpi.  He never used to do this with the older XP HP Solution Center.  Y at - it a fix for this problem.

Well, the client replied by a PM to confirm the following information:

Previous analyses is produced in 5-7 seconds, current scans take longer than 50 seconds in PDF format. Copies to print during the normal 5-7 seconds.

You can acess Windows Fax and Scan and try to make an analysis of this program or MS Paint to let me know what the time is for a WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) scan?

Get back to me after that and I'll repson with as much information and assistance I can!
