Limits of document properties

I've created PDFs from Word documents. Using Acrobat Pro and Javascript API I can add information on the description tab, properties of the Document for example title, author, subject and keywords. I am to convert our system and I was wondering if there is no character limit for the fields of Document properties? As the title must be less then 100 characters. I have searched the forum and google the web but found nothing. I guess there is no limit (that I need to worry), but thought I would ask.

Laurent

In the Acrobat family, all fields on the Properties tab of the main Document are limited to 1999 characters or less.

On the custom properties tab fields are limited to 255 characters.

  • The document properties

I have a question about the acrobat reader and document properties.

It is true that the date of file creation found in document properties cannot be changed and so can be used as hard evidence?

    That is right.

  • I can not change / modify information in the 'description' since the last update Document Properties tab

Since the update recent of Acrobat Standard DC (V. 2015.009.20077), I can no longer edit / add metadata in the description of Document Properties tab.

    Security is set to NONE.

Can someone tell me how to cancel this unwanted change?

I always add the exact title, rather that keep the title of default path, and I always add keywords, which is no longer allowed.

I would be grateful any advice on how to fix this annoying changes

Are you sure that the file opens in Acrobat when you double-click it? Perhaps, it opens in the drive, or other applications?

  • What happened to the initial view options in the Document properties?

What are the initial view options in the Document properties? I just updated my player and it is no longer accessible. SOS.

    Hi kga406,

Please tell me if you are able to access 'initial view' tab in the properties of the document using Acrobat.

You can change the initial view settings in Acrobat and you can view a PDF in Reader with the same initial point of view as established.

  • Custom shaded in the reader document properties tab

Hello.  I'm having a problem with Adobe Reader version 10.1.7.  I'm putting together letters scanned by their subject, who they are and who they were sent to.  It seems that the tab of properties, custom Document properties in Reader would really help with that. However, all the text fields and buttons on this tab are grayed.  In addition, all text in the description tab fields are grayed out and won't let me type into it.  Could someone help me telling me why this is so, and if there is a way to enable these fields in the reader?  I tried to disable the safe_mode at startup.

It is all based on the assumption that if I added these properties to metadata in the drive that I would be able to search for a specific recipient, title, etc. in Windows Explorer or another program. If this isn't the case, then I you must find another way to do it.  Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello.

To add information in these areas, you will need Adobe Acrobat. Once this done, they will display in the player but are not editable.

  • Why the document properties fields are disabled for me with Adobe Acrobat DC?

I have just recently Adobe Acrobat for DC and at the same time were analysis a large number of documents in PDF format.  But it seems no matter how to create a PDF file, I can't change the properties.  I'm mainly interested in adding a title, subject, and keywords to my documents and possibly custom properties but I can't type in all areas.  I'm choosing File > properties and Description or Custom tab.  I use Windows 7 and I don't have this problem with other software products or when I scanned to a jpg image file.  Could I have a security setting set up somewhere that keeps the properties to be changed?

    Thank you

You posted your question in the forum of Acrobat Reader, so the question is: what applications do you use, exactly?

Is Adobe Acrobat (Pro/Standard) DC or DC of Adobe Acrobat Reader? If it's the latter, no, you cannot use it to change the properties of a PDF file, because it's just a reader, not an editor.

  • Changing document properties

    Hello

I want to change the properties of my documents to PDF on Mac OS, but it is impossible to change anything. Does anyone have a solution?

You mean 'properties', as in file > properties?

If so, you would need to Acrobat and not the free player.

  • How can I remove the auto document properties low inserted during conversion to PDF .htm?

    PDF auto document properties.png

Cropping to remove a page object is always a bad idea, because most of the time it is not actually deleted.

The lines of header/footer created by PDFMaker are marked - so to remove them after the fact, just use the Pages > header/footer > remove button in Acrobat.
