Linking to pdf files

Hello!

I'm trying to link a pdf file and connect this pdf to a "folio" DPS button.

I've tested the HTMLResources.zip file, however it does not work in offline mode, the fact?

And when I try to view in the office, it does not work too.

Is it possible to make it work in these conditions?

Thank you very much!

Yes, it works in offline mode and it should work on the Viewer from the office but only

If you are seen in the folio, not just an article.

  • RH10 - WebHelp links to PDF files stop working when WebHelp is generated.

RH10 - after generation to WebHelp links to PDF files do not work. If I saw the topic in HR, the file will open and display. HR project reports any broken links. If I have a link to the file again, the file will be imported in HR and overwrite the file that already exists.  If I do one generate and display in my office cannot find the files of a hyperlink.   If I do a primary mode, the files could not be found in FireFox. Had too many problems with IE10 so I stopped using it.

I've never had this happen before with any version of RoboHelp. Please help me.

Ahhhh, you did not say that it did not work once you have copied the files on the server. That's a horse of a very different hue!

Okay, so if it's the WebHelp on the server, you have problems with, here's what to check.

Are the files that you are linking to really there? They cannot be. What are the baggage files for. You may need to add the files that you link to the list of files so that they are between the release of baggage.

If the files are there, the server can be a flavor of UNIX. In this case, you will need to check the naming conventions. If the file name is SomeFile.PdF, and your link says SOMEFILE. PDF (or another variant of case) links fails on a UNIX UNIX server being very picky about file names.

  • Links in PDF files do not work.

If a PDF file is created by taking a Word document and save it as a PDF, if there is no link in the file PDF will not work. You can click 'til you're blue in the face, and nothing will happen.

This has to do with MS Word rather than Firefox. I found this page with a few explanations (I can't find anything in a quick search of the Microsoft support site) http://news.office-watch.com/t/n.aspx?a=687 & z = 12

How can I associate an interactive pdf file with a button in the Muse? This file is just on my desktop not related to an existing site.

Under the 'File' menu, you will see:

So when you are going to link your file on your button it will appear in your menu links

  • How do you keep the references to lose their links in PDF files that results when they are moved?

How do you keep references (made in InDesign) lose their links in their PDF documents resulting when PDF files are moved (i.e., posted on the web)?

I guess that you are referring to cross-references to other documents or external files, because everything within the document will always work. You can't prevent it. It's like a link to a file or a folder on your drive HARD or on a network.

As soon as the file or folder is changed (moved, renamed), the link is broken and useless.

  • Link to PDF file?

    Hello

I'm trying to put several links in a page using C5, I want everyone to be able to open multiple pages pdf documents so that the user can scroll through the document page 3 or 4. Is it possible to do this? I created a powerpoint presentation with links contained in it and it works, but I guess that they removed when importing to C5. I looked through the help of C5 and on this forum but really can't find anything... Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Randy

Just insert a button or click box and set it up to open URL or file. Specify the name of the PDF file. Then make sure that the PDF file is in the same folder as your Captivate movie.

  • Best practices - exeternal link a PDF file on the FM band, and in turn, HR

I use TCS2 with FM and HR.  My goal is the following:

-to create a doc FM (with several chapters) and links to external PDF documents. When I generate the FM file in PDF format, it correctly will allow users to click on links and display these external PDF docs.

-import the doc FM (with several chapters) in HR and create HTML webhelp. Ideally, having the links included in the docs of FM (in external PDF) automatically generate in the HR doc, so that the produced HTML online help doc may have clicked on links also open the external PDF files.

    Issues related to the:

-best way to do it in FM? I guess I have to create my PDFs in a portfolio (package?), so external clients keep the documentation in the same place (because hyperlinks can damage, I guess)

-best way to make it work in HR?

    -things to watch?

    TIA!

    -Adriana

    Adrianna,

Presents all works seamlessly in the framework, assuming that you use cross reference tools and the hyperlink correctly. Assuming that your external files are either 1.)  local for new image files or 2.) are in a static situation on a server that can be identified by a URL.

The warnings are only external PDF files must be in the same relative location as the files FM where they are created, because the path information is used in the links, OR you must specify the static location of the external PDF as a URL using a marker rather than a cross reference hypertext.

If you move the directories containing PDFs around after the fact, Yes, you will break things.

(And when you generate your PDF files, it is recommended to open all the files in the book so that network errors and minor messages prevent files update targets).

If you cannot keep the logical tree when you deliver your PDF documents, Yes, you will need to do the manual steps and create functions and so on and bind files in Acrobat format.

It is worth it for most people to find a way to maintain the stability of the directory structure...

    See you soon,.

  • link a pdf file in dreamweaver

I learn that dreamweaver and I have read and seen a lot of videos on the link between a PDF in my web page, but I still have a problem. I have the file in my Web page folder, called 10brochure.pdf, when I view it in sarafi before I download it, it shows that the file is there and opens. Yet when I publish on the web, it said not FOUND, request URL/10brochure.pdf was not found on this server. Please visit www.mmo-stanstevens.com/pages/trophy_gallery.html to see where I have a problem with pdf 2010 and 2009, 2 years ago, someone else added 06-08

    Thank you

Your file path seems to be off after watching your code.2008 and 2007"

../pdf/2008_report.pdf" you need the same for 2009 and 2010. Is has a path of "../09brochure.pdf". Make sure the 09 and 10 pdf's are in your pdf folder in your root and correct the path in your dreamweaver doc with /pdf/10brochure.pdf. Hope that helps

  • Click on a .pdf link does not open the .pdf file, it opens a SAVE DIALOG box

Recently, when I click on a link to .pdf file I'm not able to open the file in an adobe reader or a FIREFOX Web page or open it using the full program from adobe. Instead, it opens a dialog box SAVE asking me to save it on my hard drive. I don't know what happened, and I'm trying to find someone who might know what is happening?

I had the same problem, but I got by the following methods:

Go to Firefox > Options > Applications > Portable Document Format (PDF)

And for the Portable Document Format (PDF) set the State as "use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox).

    Fact

Now the PDF opens in the Firefox browser without having to download the file to open.

  • Maintaining links between PDFs converted from source (Word) files

    Hello

If I have two Word files and manage the links between them (hyperlink on one specific bookmark on the other), is there a way to easily remember (or reproduce) these links on PDF files converted from Word files?

Here's what I've tested so far.

-On the source file, the format of the hyperlink is "{filename} .docx #{bookmarkname}. I changed the extension of docx to pdf.

-Source/target to convert Word files to PDF format.

    -The hyperlink on the converted source PDF is in the format "file:///{targetpath}/{targetfile}%23{bookmarkname"}

-When I click on the hyperlink on the converted source PDF, security warning pops up with "this document tries to connect to...". »

-If I click on 'Allow' on the pop-up, the web browser opens with "cannot display this page" error. "

I guess that by using the hyperlink is not a viable solution. If the links do not work, do the following manually?

    - source file Word, remove all hypertext links (because they do not work on PDF even when)

    -convert files to PDF format

-on target of PDF, the value named destinations on the points corresponding to Favorites

-on the source PDF, find points corresponding to hyperlinks and define the links to destinations named on target PDF.

(Actually the situation is more complicated because files are shared at the chapter level and they should be merged for each new version.)

If there is a simpler method to achieve this, I would appreciate your help.

That's why your problems... You use the PDFMaker plugin, IE the Acrobat Ribbon.

  • unexpected problem with links to URLS in PDF files

    Hi all

I have some PDF documents that contain some URLS which once hovered over or clicked behaves as expected. I need to put these PDFs through our control software upstream which checks and corrects things and writes a new file. When the new PDF is displayed there more active links. I can not change the software to control upstream, but I just want to understand what is happening. Links in PDF files are not created manually in any program created (for example, Indesign) but are just to make links by Acrobat/Reader (because the 'create links option URL' are lit)-if I turn this option off the links in the original PDF work stoppage. In my tests some links still work in the new PDF but others do not, but I do not see why some would not. In addition, links in the new PDF files that worked often did not the first time you open the PDF but would be the second time that they were opened (once the program has been revived). All this is just weird!

The text in question is a selectable text in the PDF file (not converted to outlines or rasterised) and regularly works until the file is preflighted. But whether it is always selectable text in the new PDF why would not Acrobat/Reader displays links as usual. What could the preflight software may have which would spoil this process?

I'm just checking le files in Acrobat Pro 10.1.10 (Windows), 8.3.1 and on Mac 9.5.5.

    Any suggestion is appreciated.
