links opens automatically with firefox

When I click on any link in the email that I received, it just does nothing. He used to go and Open firefox or if it is already open will open a new tab and the link site.

When I do the Internet explorer by default, it works.

Thanks mate, don't know what else should I write.

A few minutes more to the research and I found a more precise answer. Apparently, an update in Outlook 2010, it is incompatible with Mozilla Firefox. The only way to solve this must make IE the default browser, or hope that this fix works: http://www.pcworld.com/article/200103/Fix_Outlook_General_Failure_Error_for_EMail_Links.html

It is the same patch of the thread archived and is the same difficulty that keeps popping up on the internet. Good luck.

  • How to prevent the creation of a profile whenever I open it with Firefox

I'm on a Mac on Mountain Lion 30.0 Firefox running. Whenever I open the browser, it acts as if it opens for the first time and records nothing of earlier uses - bookmarks, preferences, etc. In troubleshooting, I noticed that it creates a whole new profile, so that my profiles folder ends with dozens of new profiles.

I've searched quite exhaustive and tried other suggestions, including reset Firefox, do a clean install, etc., but nothing works. Prefs.js is not locked. I suspect there is a current permissions Mac or similar problem. I'm not under any antivirus software. I don't have this problem with other software.

Any ideas on how to approach this on a Mac?

    Thank you.

This only happens if Firefox is not able to create or update the file profiles.ini a reason any.

  • I can no longer open PDFs with Firefox.

I get a blank screen. All started to arrive recently after upgrading to Firefox 9. I now use 11. I tried all the steps of troubleshooting of Firefox and Adobe without success. It works with IE, so it's certainly related somehow to Firefox. If I can't fix it, I might have to give up Firefox, which I really don't want to do. There are too many sites that I need this job. Other thoughts? Thank you.

I think I can have it fixed. If all goes well, it will stay like this. I got an extension, downloadable in PDF format, which I disabled it and now I was able to open a PDF file in three different sites, I've tried. I had this extension for a long time, so don't know why it would suddenly be a problem. For now, I'm thinking it is solved. Will post again if it returns. Thanks to all who tried to help.

  • When I open a new window, it also opens a new tab. How to open a new window without a new tab opening automatically with it. This problem just started.

I used to be able to open a new window (Ctrl + N) and it would 'only' to open a new window, which is what I wanted.

Now, when I open a new window, it opens a new window, but it does so with a new tab as well.

So if I type "Ctrl + N" for example, a new window AND a new tab when open. I close the tab every time now, because I wanted to only the new window.

whenever I open a tab, a web page which is not my home page how to change?

There are many people who think you want something other than a blank page to a new tab. It would be useful that you could give a url or describe the page hijacking which appears instead. This is probably an extension. The problem occurs in 'Safe Mode' which you can test via

    • ALT + H (Help) > restart with disabled modules...

Enter about: config in the location bar and then filter on the url you see

  • Open a Telnet with Firefox link and bad things can happen

I happened to come across a site with a number of links, and I chose the one who happened to be a telnet link. This is my experience, and I had to put myself in the shoes of the average user who knows nothing about programming.

The link that has caused problems of Firefox where Firefox was chosen to run it is:
    Telnet://DXC.nc7j.com:7300

Click on the link and Firefox tells you you have to select a program to open the Internet shortcut Shell extension DLL. I've never heard of this, and I have no idea what to do here.

    Choose to open with Firefox.

Now, if an error handling routine had taken that Firefox, which is not able to Telnet, was chosen by the unconscious person behind the keyboard to move forward and do Telnet, the error handler advises the user on the fact that this Protocol is not taken in charge and kill the process that is going to run out of control if not. Or to open the program which will run the Telnet session.

Better yet, I clicked on the link Telnet and offer a better description of the choices.

After all what happened, that I have installed a browser based on Chromium, iron and he opened a Telnet session window immediately.

This did happen, clicked on Firefox to do this chore and was welcomed by an opening endless empty tabs and the browser is closed, he raised and I was off to the races again. And once again.

OK, so this isn't getting us anywhere.

Firefox opens once more, this time hitting the big red X to close it and leave asked it to close but many tabs invites when even sitting there.

I chose to run CCleaner and I put that to blow the Firefox Cache and session. Run CCleaner and tell him to force Firefox closed when he asks that Firefox is open.

If by chance, Firefox launches once again, the timing was perfect as the file that was the origin of Firefox open wasn't cleaned yet, then run the CCleaner a few times. When Firefox is the opening is no longer, we are in the world of mental health.

Now, I could go to reset the Tools Options Applications tab and search for Telnet and replace the use of Firefox with 'ask me '.

Fortunately, I know a little bit more than some about the computer, and I knew I had to use a utility to clear the Firefox cache.

You have a description of the problem in your knowledge base, but he has Firefox open the empty tabs without end, but Firefox was closed and the situation is under control... Restart Firefox manually, start a new session, and then enter the menu Tools and difficulty setting.

There is an article in the knowledge base on this theme, but there the user to close Firefox, and then everything is back to normal. You can open Firefox and enter the menu to resolve the problem. There was a mention in there any malware as a possible cause of the constant reopening that I lived, but Malwarebytes scans were clean.

"Well, this is awkward!" I have seen that nice touch to Firefox for many years and may I want to congratulate those who thought of that one.

There are a couple of settings related to resume your previous session after a crash:

    (A) resume automatically, but if Firefox crashes twice in a row, displays a list of windows and tabs and let me choose. (default)

    (B) does not resume automatically, always show the list of windows and tabs and let me choose; (I recommend this approach) or

    (C) never automatically resume and do not display the list.

Switching to B or C requires a visit to Firefox about: config preferences editor.

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste sess and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    For "B":

    Double-click the browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes preference from 1 to 0 (that's a zero).

    For "C":

Double-click on browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash preference to change its value from true to false.

  • When I open a link that opens a new Firefox window, it opens 2 tabs instead of one. How can I stop this?

When I open a link that opens a new Firefox window, it opens 2 tabs instead of one. A tab is the link that I opened and the second tab is just a generic Mozilla tab with links to 12 pages like Facebook, Youtube, etc. This tab opens on top too, so I always have to close to get what I'm looking for. How can I stop this from happening?

Hello. Thanks for all the posts on this topic. I have the same problem, as described by the op. But, while I use Avast, I have NOT the add-on from Astromenda which has been mentioned. However, I have the SB installed toolbar, and it has been recently updated, 29/12. I suspect that it is the culprit, if this problem is in fact not caused by an update of Firefox (my tiles have recently been reset on new tabs, and I suspect that Firefox for this problem).

I am ready to remove the toolbar from the SB, but prefer to keep it (Yes, I admit I'm stupid) If this annoying 'new window = 2 tabs with 'new tab' at the top' would just leave.

Apart from the removal of the toolbar SB... does anyone have suggestions? I don't see that all recently added add-ons/extensions that I don't recognize, apart from the update of the toolbar of SB.

Updated: 5 minutes after this announcement, I disabled the toolbar of SB and restarted Firefox. No change.

  • IE is default, but need to link to open it in firefox

Hi, not sure if this is possible, but here goes.

is it possible to have say IE as default browser, but to create a link that opens a website in firefox?

Normally the links open with the default browser is the easiest thing to change Firefox to IE browser but use default on specific links.

Way to the ether that requires no browser to be open to the use of the default binding.

There is a possible workaround solution. If the link is a shortcut on the Windows desktop, for example you can instead of just a shortcut to type url (address) make a shortcut to the executable program for Firefox and add a space followed by the link at the end of the it would then open Firefox on this Web site.

You can do this by copying and editing the properties to start for Firefox for example icon

    Reference: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/971042

I don't know as to what exactly is happening, but it seems that yahoo has changed something on their side makes some old dysfunctional urls/servers (you can now use those because you have them bookmarked before or through your story)-at a number of other users have reported that...

so using the generic address https://mail.yahoo.com/ as a bookmark must lead you to the current url & work.
