linux disk Vmware of transfer to another machine

I know this has been asked before, but I can't seem to locate it through research. I have two hard drives on my mac and the drive that has the Vmware Fusion with Linux OS on it is becoming full.  I would like to move the entire thing on the second disc.  How can I do this correctly to ensure that I do not corrupt the Linux disk image and maintain recognition smoothly by the merger?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  In the past, I have tried this and obviously there were files, etc. that I missed.

Thank you!!

If you have "Show all file Extensions" turned on in the Finder preferences, you will notice that your VM Linux some_VM_name.vmwarevm.  This is a set of Mac who behaves as if there is a file in the Finder is concerned, but in reality in that it is only a folder with all the files you Linux VM included.  All you have to do is drag the icon of another .vmwarevm your drive and the virtual machine will be copied to this location.  If you don't know where the Linux VM using virtual machine library window, select the virtual computer object, right-click and select Show in Finder.  It's what you want to copy to the other disk.

Once you have copied to the other disk, double click on its "icon in the Finder, merge will ask you if you copied or moved the computer virtual (select Moved) and then it should start normally.  When you have confirmed that the copied VM works fine then you will remove it from the original disc in which Machine virtual library of melting point indicates it does not find this particular copy and you can simply remove the entry from the Virtual Machine library.

I recommend that the virtual machine is shutdown / power off when you perform this copy.

  • Transfer various associated Microsoft software license to another machine

Hi, I'm an IT professional in my 40s with a very computer-household hybrid, a woman and children. Among those who are two highschoolers with laptops Windows (7 & 8), both with desktop licenses. The desktop versions are slightly different: one is without a subscription, the other is a subscription version. The other day one of them (with Windows 8) is accidentally deleted when turned on, and now the disc (probably) has a scratch or something, because even if the laptop does not start, it will not connect more. He blocked idefinitely after the name of user and password.

So I bought a new laptop and a new drive (Finally, I should just buy a new drive, but that's how the wife wanted to), with windows (8) on this issue, and now I want to transfer licenses. The idea is that the oldest Gets the laptop broken with a new disk, the second child gets the new laptop, and the third laptop (older) will become a game-laptop for me with Linux on it. So he only owes me some isseus license - in fact, I'll be throwing a (license Windows-7). If everything goes as I want, I will stay with two laptops Windows-8, both with office on them. And for me who will not be a matter of concern to Microsoft somehow.

Now, while I can not connect, I can access the file system of the disk broke when I put a live CD of Ubuntu in there. And of course, I have full access to the other two laptops. So my questions are the following:

-Can I use access to the broken disk file system to retrieve the windows and office licenses?
-These licenses are transferable to another disk on another machine?
-Does it matter what version of office that I use on one or the other?

OK, I solved differently now. It turns out that the laptop most recent has been boot UEFI on and the former does not. I now put your old hard drive in the laptop more recent and it starts. But of course, after all the glory of the moment, office always moaned. I had "detected a change in the material" and wants me to re - subscribe in two days lest I lose my license. Big buzz-kill, after all that work.

Anyway, I don't know yet how I'm supposed to reinstate the license, although I don't know that I have the code somewhere.

  • What is the best method to transfer a virtual machine from one PC to another?

I am a novice in VMWare workstation. I created my first SharePoint 2010 development VM, and my boss wants me to give him a copy of my SP 2010 VM. He told me to just give him the. VMX file, but I believe that there must be a better method to transfer a virtual machine from one PC to another.

    Thanks in advance.

    Coltrane.

    Coltrane,

to transfer a virtual machine from one PC to another, shut down the virtual computer and copy the complete folder with all the files (vmx, vmdk,...) on another PC.

A thin to keep in mind (outside the Windows license) if the virtual machine is one attached to your network, you must change the copied disk - as you would with a cloned physical system - to have a unique host name, MAC address and IP address.

As long as you do not exhaust all your licenses, you can transfer it. Please note, the Family Pack is an upgrade, the machine that you transfer must have a license of previous qualifying installed (XP or Vista).

I have a pc 3 for W7 license, but I updated all the machines to W8.  Can I transfer a license to another machine?

3 PC for Windows 7 license usually means that you have the Home Premium 'Family Pack' which is an 'Upgrade' of Windows 7 version.

    (1) If you have used a version of "Downloading" or a boxed version of Windows 8, then you cannot use / transfer the product key of Windows 7 on another computer, as it was the basis for the upgrade to Windows 8.

    (2) If you used a version OEM/System Builders of Windows 8 (which only allows you to perform a "Clean" installation) then Yes you can re - use the product key of Windows 7 on another computer, but he will need to phone activation.

  • Can I transfer my Adobe CS6 Design & Web Premium (Student edition) to another machine?

Hello, last year I bought Adobe CS6 Design & Web premium for students, and what I ordered, it is for Mac. I installed it in my iMac and Macbook, but then I separated from my iMac because I planned to install it in another machine (a windows desktop computer which is also mine). But then I typed the serial number to the design & web premium Adobe in windows and it said "the serial number you entered is invalid."

No idea how to transfer the CS6 for this machine?

A CS license is only good for a kind of platform...  PC against Mac.As far as I know you need to buy another license in order to be able to use the software on two different platforms.

  • Transfer of virtual machines from a server ESXi 3.5 to new ESXi 4.1 server. What is the procedure.

I read on how to transfer a virtual machine from one server to another using VMotion. Not 100% clear on the process again. What I see or read is when you do this since an ESXi 3.5 Server ESXi 4.1 server, I do not see any information on, if possible. In addition, I have not read if I need to convert or upgrade the virtual machine until I use it on the new server. So, my question is, are there any special instructions, conversion tools to convert a VM created 3.5 to use on the new Server 4.1? Is there a detailed procedure that I have not yet found or read best describes this process. Like I said up to now I'm not 100% clear on the procedure. Thank you.

ESX 3.5 VMs can run without modification on a host ESXi 4.1 - VMotion between the two hosts, you will stiil need to ensure CPU compatibility between the hosts.

Maybe it's the best guid for upfrading to vSphere - http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r41/vsp_41_upgrade_guide.pdf

  • Can I move my Vista license to another machine and remove the original?

New operating system installed, same key, different Machine

I currently have Vista running on my laptop but I'm the upgrade/transition to a desktop computer. I plan also scratching my laptop / Linux loading it and wait for the computer to finally die. Can I install Vista on my new desktop PC and use the product key, I used for my laptop to Vista installation? If Yes, where can I find the key?

Edit: The laptop came with XP and I've upgraded to Vista

    Hello

The retail license can be transferred to another machine

but you have a problem that you only have a license to upgrade to vista

you need an operating system that is installed to upgrade

If you have received the upgrade to vista from your manufacturer of computers as part of the purchase transaction, it is related to the original computer

  • Recovery of a computer disks can be used for another move from XP to Vista?

I bought an HP computer a few years back with windows vista home premium, when I started it told me to do a series of witch of recovery disks that I made. Also, I have a laptop that is running windows XP Professional and want to put windows vista Home premium on it. So, are these recovery disks that I made my copy of vista Home premium? If this is not the case, how can I get the copy I paid? and if they do I use to install my vista on my laptop? If I can, how?  Thank you

    Hello

You cannot use the recovery discs HP computer did you to install vista on your laptop

    read this

    ·                        as your vista is preinstalled on the HP machine it is an oem license and cannot be transferred to another machine

It is linked to the original machine on which it is installed

If he had a license of vista of detail that isn't there could have been transferred to another machine

but it can only be installed on a machine at any time

the rule is: A windows license = a windows installation

You can use your HP recovery discs that you made to reinstall vista on your original HP computer

and that's all you can do with them

    Microsoft sells more vista

    they moved on windows 7

You can find a copy of vista and license left to a computer repair shop

I had Vista Ultimate installed craftsmanship home machine, then I bought Windows 7 Pro and installed on the same machine, so I have Vista Ultimate on nothing, and then decided to install the ultimate to my laptop at home which had Vista Home. allow me to turn on the laptop, said already active on another machine, BTW this is Vista OEM

If the Ultimate license is OEM, you can not transfer it.

The license of Vista OEM is related to the original computer it is installed on and dies with the computer.
You cannot transfer it to another computer/laptop

If a license of Vista at retail, you can transfer it to another computer/laptop.
But it can only be installed on one computer at a time.

  • How can I move windows 7 (not OE), to another machine after upgrade to windows 10?

I have a machine that has Windows 7 Ultimate installed on it, as a clean install from a CD with a code.  I upgraded this Windows 10 machine and I want to spend the nec plus ultra 7 to another machine.  How to "Uninstall" or "Turn off" Windows 7 in the computer being upgraded so that I can activate it on another computer after a clean install?

If you upgrade Windows 7 Ultimate edition free update of Windows 10, you cannot move Windows 7 Ultimate edition to another machine because the free update used Windows 7 Ultimate edition as an eligible basic license.

Only if you have installed a full version of Windows 10 license would you be able to transfer the license of Windows 7 to a new computer.

Otherwise, you will need to purchase a new license of Windows 7.

    Hello

You tell us if you have a sale at retail or OEM System Builders license for Windows 7; only that you have your own license.

It's the General rules on the transfer of Windows licenses

If the computer/laptop comes with the preinstalled Windows operating system (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.) or is licensed to OEM System Builders, that the product key that came with the computer/laptop is preinstalled OEM license and is not transferable.

OEM license/product key (systems of operating pre-installed on Dell, HP, etc.) and the license OEM System Builders are related to the first machine it is installed on and dies when machine who dies.

Only retail Operating System license that you buy and install yourself, are allowed to be transferred to another machine.

And retail licenses also can be installed on a machine at one time.

When you reinstall a retail license, you may need to make a phone Activation.

If it does require phone activation, do not follow Demand of Auto, but brace yourself for a real person explain as to what has been done for purposes of re-setup

  • How to install vmware tools in a virtual machine running in the drive on an Ubuntu host?

I have a host of Ubuntu (Ubuntu LTS 14.04.2)

I have a virtual of Fedora (4.0.4 - 301.fc22.x86_64) and I would like to install vmware tools in the virtual machine.

When I select the player VirtualMachine-> reinstall VMware Tools...

I get a prompt in a box on the screen.  It is said:

The following software are available for download:

VMware Tools for Linux version 9.9.3

    What do you do?

X Cancel |  Download and install

Of course I choose to download and install (kind of silly question - why I want to cancel?)

So instead of download the tools I want to install, it says:

Your permission is required to install an update to VMware.

Please enter the root password to move forward.

    Password: __________

not serious.  Now, he's looking for what root password?  The virtual machine or the host?

I have try the virtual machine and it works-not "incorrect password... try again."

... well Ubuntu is not a root user.  So, I try the password for the user with root privileges

    "incorrect password... try again."

    Then, he does not.

    Not very satisfying.

The instructions that I found in my research right you will say to take the step to obtain the Tools package then (well, nothing of the rest of it is important if the tools are not available to me).

    Suggestions?  Advice?

The required password is for the host.

A workaround of functions is "sudo su -" of ubuntu host, then start vmplayer from the root prompt.  You must browse the virtual machine since the user doesn't have a history of openness yet... but then there is no prompt asking for a password when you try to download the tools.
