list of archive logs show only 1 location instead of 2
Friends...OS: OEL 5.5 64-bit
DB: 11g R2 (11.2.0.3) 64-bit
I put 2 destination to archive. Log_archive_dest_1 = / u01/archive1 and log_archive_dest_2 under/u01/archive2.
When I do this...
SQL> archive log list
Database log mode Archive Mode
Automatic archival Enabled
Archive destination /u01/archive2/
Oldest online log sequence 8
Next log sequence to archive 10
Current log sequence 10
at the same time, when I do this...SQL> select dest_name,status,destination from v$archive_dest;
DEST_NAME STATUS DESTINATION
-------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------
LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1 VALID /u01/archive1/
LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2 VALID /u01/archive2/
Why list archives logs showing that one location whereas the query indicates both the location. and why list of newspapers of record showing instead of archive1 archive2?Thank you
The LIST of NEWSPAPERS of ARCHIVES control gives a quick overview of the State of archive, it clearly should not be used to report on destinations.
The ARCHIVE_DEST view $ V gives a clear view into where on the disk are these destinations and when you use the LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n parameter, is closely related to what has been entered in the file init.ora parameters
Maybe this might help you http://www.databasejournal.com/features/oracle/article.php/3867646/Oracle-Database-Archive-Logging---Where-are-my-archive-logs.htm

Can someone explain to me why most output example that I find on the web to 'list of newspapers of record' is as follows:
Database log mode Archive Mode
Active AutoArchive
Destination of archive USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST
More old sequence of journal on line 215
Log sequence archive 217
Current log sequence 217
But when I 'archive list journal' on my DEV db, mine is as follows:
Database log mode Archive Mode
Active AutoArchive
Archives/DEV/db/apps_st/data/archive destination
More old sequence of journal online 32
Log sequence archive 33
Current log sequence 33
What I don't understand is why the first sample, which is how most sample that I have to find the products and services, has "USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST" instead of an explicit path like mine. Can someone explain to me please?
Also, I should probably mention that my DB is 10g and I run EBS APPS R12
Published by: ovlz on July 15, 2011 09:27Why you are able to see the 'USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST' in the databases of the other sample is because they have configured FLASH RECOVERY AREA (FRA) and their archive logs will be store in the default domain... Because the default location of oracle to store the archive logs is FRA and in case if the FRA is not configured the default location is $ORACLE_HOME/dbs...
Why you see your list of newspapers of archives as "/ DEV/db/apps_st/data/archive" because the LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1 is set to this location rather locations by default... I think you should go through the documents of the oracle...
http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/backup.102/b14192/setup005.htm---c' is for RMAN, but you can always understand why FRA is used...
I hope that its clear... See you soon!

Qosmio G30-10 b: BIOS shows only 3328 MB instead of 4 GB of memory
I've updated by laptop 4 GB of memory. The reports correctly that 4096 MB in the BIOS screen. When you start however it shows only as 3328 MB and that's obviously what Vista reports. (I know that 32-bit Windows systems probably will not see any memory, but probably checking the BIOS boot should display correctly).
Last update of the BIOS was done - running on v3.50
Post edited by: gerhards
If the BIOS recognizes all 4 MB of memory, so I don't think it could have a bad influence on the performance of the laptop.
As you already suggested the whole 4 MB can be recognized by the operating system 32-bit Windows due to the limitation of the system.Recommend checking this Toshiba document:
http://support.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB7601WE0007R01.htmPlease check the part called "(detailed) resolution:
I put the memory 2x2gb bars in my computer laptop and the BIOS and the operating system is worth about 3 GB
So BIOS might watch also a value of bad memory -
Satellite Pro A200 - shows only 3 GB instead of 4 GB of RAM
Hello
2 years ago I had a Satellite Pro A200 as a professional laptop and it works with XP SP2, later with SP3. With 2 GB, it shows 2 GB memory in Windows - and I know it's a Radeon 7500 with 256 MB memory graphics individual, and there is no shared memory.
I upgraded to 4 GB, but Windows shows exactly 3 GB. BIOS shows 4 GB and ATI system monitor shows 4 GB. I know that 4 GB is not possible under XP 32-bit, only on Windows 2003 R2 32 bit or Vista - but on desktop systems, I've seen values between 3.3 and 3.7 GB.
So, where's the memory? It looks like a bug - the chips of memory have two 2 GB I checked this. Because it's a company laptop I can not just switch to 64-bit XP :-(
There's no option in the BIOS - first I thought that it is the graphics card, but mine has independent graphics with own memory so that the computer comes up with MB 2048 or 4096 after the upgrade.
Shared memory would show about 1900 MB of RAM for the operating system as my private EEEpc.
Hi shadowmaster_1,
> I know that 4 GB is not possible under XP 32 bit
Then why do you ask this question here if you already know? Moreover, it s not a limitation in XP, it s a material limitation on all 32-bit systems> only on Windows 2003 R2 32 bit or Vista
And who says that Windows 2003 or Vista can use 4 GB? Okay, there's an update for Vista where 4 GB correct displayed in system properties, but that doesn't make no difference. Vista 32 bit peut t use all of 4GB, it s only cosmetic improvements! ;)> So where is memory?
Memory is installed on your computer, but can t be used complelty with a 32 bit OS.At the end of the story: If you want to use 4 GB, you need to install a 64 bit OS. On all the 32 bit OS, you can use only upward to ~3.2GB RAM!

Tecra M10 - Diagnostic mode shows only 3 GB instead of 4 GB of RAM
Hello
I have 2 Tecra M10-133 and M10J. In both cases, the system BIOS shows 4 GB (4096 MB) memory total. When I activate the Diagnostic Mode (Enable) and restart the system, this shows the following:
3072MB MEMORY CHECK 1 OK
3072MB MEMORY CHECK 2 OK
3072MB MEMORY CHECK 3 OK
3072MB MEMORY CHECK 4 OKSome body knows the reason why does not not the 4096MB of RAM?
Thank you very much..!
Hello
I'm not very well why the diagnosis Mode shows same 3072MB 4 GB are inserted m but what value of memory is reported by the Windows operating system?
Windows recognizes the full 4 GB of RAM?I should mention that only 64-bit OS can use and recognize the full 4 GB of RAM.
The 32 bit OS will recognize as the 3.2 GBThe other thing is that the graphics card uses part of the RAM, but generally, this should not affect the Diagnostic Mode.
However, check your BIOS version and if more recent BIOS was released, then I recommend you to update.

Satellite L30 PSL33E shows only 896 MB instead of 1024 MB
I bought a PSL33E with 512 MB of memory. I upgraded to 1024Mo by adding a second SAMSUNG 512 MB, exactly equal to the original. Instead of 1024 MB, it displays only 896 MB. What is the reason for this difference?
Is something related to the video memory, 128 MB, or can I have a problem in the computer? I removed the memory and it shows 448MB, boths memories and in both slots.
Hello
You have a shared memory graphics card?
The actions of graphics memory shared the part of main memory and, therefore, the main memory does not show the full 1024Mo.
It seems that the difference of 128 MB (1024 MB - 896 MB = 128 MB) is used by the graphics card.
It's nothing wrong and nothing wrong. So don t worry buddy. Everything looks ok ;)Greetings

Update IOS Sierra shows only 8 GB instead of 16 GB
After the upgrade to my system Sierra shows that 8GB instead of 16 GB in which I have two installed RAM 8 GB cards.
Ive done a reset of the NVRAM/PRAM memory and no help.
Does anyone else have this problem?
I would try reinstalling the memory in Bank 1. I doubt that Sierra has nothing to do with it, just a coincidence I guess. I've not seen anyone else with this issue since Sierra was released.

to be honest, this problem is one of the most annoying problem as the failure of Bios in this forum.

I think that problem is in the Bios, it does not recognize the 4 GB, but only 3 GB.

Portege 3480CT shows only 500 MHz instead of 600 MHz
The manual mentions it as 600 Mhz machine, but mine never runs greater than 500 Mhz since I installed XP
The 500 Mhz processor never leaves. I didn't know this until I installed a small utility to monitor the speed of the processor. The most I ever get is 500 Mhz. I don't know why it won't speedstep upward.
I installed the software to save energy, but it was just a futile attempt
Hello
You can also check the hardware configuration tool. On the CPU tab you can set the CPU frequency mode. Try to set it to high. I believe that in this case the CPU will run with maximum speed constantly.
Good bye

No clarity about the location of archive logs in Oracle database 11g
I have this request which I am not able to solve. There is a location of the log archiving mentioned as /oraarch/app/oracle/oradata/snlprod/archive_logs/in the parameter log_archive_dest_1. But the archive logs appear in another location/orabackup/rman/snlprod/archive_logs. I wonder how the archive logs show at this location, / orabackup/rman/snlprod/archive_logs.
I assume that there is only one way in what place can be given which is seen availability-> restore settings-> Media Recovery.
Hopefully, my question is clear.
Please get back with the answer to my query.
Concerning
Check the location of the archive log backup in the script. What is /orabackup/rman/snlprod/archive_logs.

Hello
I am also testing in Data Guard 12.1 configurations.
Oracle support response is "it seems therefore that this information be removed.
So is the best way to check on the database pending:
SQL > select thread #, max(sequence#) ' last day before Seq received. "
v $ archived_log val, v$ database vdb
where val.resetlogs_change # = vdb.resetlogs_change #.
Group thread # order by 1;

v $ archived_log val, v$ database vdb

and val.applied in ('YES', "IN-MEMORY")

Windows script to copy archive logs to another location
Hi all
I need windows script that will copy created 'Archive logs' from the default location to another location using "Time stamp".
"Time Stamp" means, the script will copy the active logs based on time current system - (less) 1 hour.
If the script will copy all archive logs that got packed before 1 hour and not the current one, or who is currently used by the database.
Is it a on a such a script of any third-party tool
Version of database 11g R2 =
Operating system = Windows 2008
Please guide me on the same.
Thank you and best regards,user592598 wrote:

So do the location where you want to copy your FRA archivelogs, use rman backup the archivelogs and remove them when saved.

Problem with the archive log when you use RMAN for backup and restore (11g 2)
Hello world
Please help me solve this problem.
I'm just beginner in Oracle Database (11 g 2). Today, I had a problem, I tried to back up and restore my db by RMAN. I delete all the files in /u01/app/oracle/oradata/orcl / * , then I restore them easily, but the point is I have a table, I can restore Hungarian, but cannot restore anything ranks in it (something wrong with step restore database). I'll tell the detail below.
-First, I create a 'Day' with command table create table hr.day (varchar (20)) day. Then I backup complete by this:run{
allocate channel bkp device type DISK FORMAT '/u01/backup/DB_FULL_%d_%T_s%s_p%p' ;
backup as compressed backupset incremental level 0 tag 'DB_FULL' database include current controlfile;
backup as compressed backupset tag 'ARCL_BKP_FULL' archivelog all delete input;
crosscheck archivelog all;
crosscheck backup;
delete noprompt obsolete;
release channel bkp;
}
D ' other hand, I have insert 'Monday' to table. then do an incremental backup by this:run{
allocate channel bkp device type DISK FORMAT '/u01/backup/DB_INC_%d_%T_s%s_p%p' ;
backup as compressed backupset incremental level 1 tag 'DB_INC' database include current controlfile;
backup as compressed backupset tag 'ARCL_BKP_INC' archivelog all delete input;
crosscheck archivelog all;
crosscheck backup;
delete noprompt obsolete;
release channel bkp;
}Repeat 7 times (Monday-> Saturday). And I got these files:
[oracle@rac ~]$ ls -l /u01/backup/

If i ignore it and open the database, just my table in full backup come back but rows was not restored. I'm sure the problem is my archive log backup but i don't know how to solve it. Plz help me.Sorry for a long post.
> 1 and from the 1205841 SNA sequence
The SCN that indicates Oracle is above the range of SNA that you have in the ArchiveLog backups for sequence 1 to 15 (15 sequence ends at 1205840).
The message
channel ORA_DISK_1: restoring archives Journal
Archives journal thread = 1 sequence = 15
channel ORA_DISK_1: backup/u01/backup/DB_INC_ORCL_20160120_s117_p1 piece reading
channel ORA_DISK_1: piece handle = / u01/backup/DB_INC_ORCL_20160120_s117_p1 tag = ARCL_BKP_INC
indicates that he has restored the sequence up to 15
You can check the log file alert database instance for messages on the fact of recovery.
He is now asking sequence #1 it seems you did a RESETLOGS after sequence #15.
Note: If you have NOT issued a COMMIT after the line is INSERTED in the table 'Day', the recovery of the database will have no * transactions * to retrieve. An uncomitted transaction is cancelled.
