List of files the Finder sidebar disappears / empty

I noticed that (with el capitan) my finder opens with the empty sidebar, even if I have a list of standard folders and a few favorites.

Is this a known bug, or no one knows what may cause him?

Restart in safe mode, and then restart normally.

  • The Finder sidebar does not match selected preferences.

I have a MacBook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.5, and lately the side bar of the Finder is not consistent with the selected preferences.  The sidebar lists only MacBook Pro, Macintosh HD and remote disc, even though I checked all the boxes available in the preferences.  The Finder is version 10.10.5.  Is it possible to download another copy of Finder?

Looks like a wobbly preference in Preferences, only not to be redundant.

Go to your 'Go' menu entry Finder ~ / library. Then go to the preferences and trash folder these files:

    com Apple.Finder.plist

    com Apple.sidebarlists.plist

Then, restart or log in and again.

(You will have to reset some finder prefs the way you like them).

  • The Finder sidebar does not shortcuts to folders

On my MacBook Pro mid 2014 running OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan, the sidebar of the Finder displays often only "devices" and "shared". It occurs randomly, sometimes it works for a day, then all of a sudden, breaks, and it is also randomly after a reboot.

A related issue is perhaps that, in all of my native applications Mac, the "Open recent" menu is always empty. However, the questions are not directly related, which means that "Open the recent item" may work for at the same time, the sidebar of the Finder doesn't.

I'm a developer, so a possible cause may be that I installed a bunch of third-party software that modifies the system and something went wrong. I use homebrew and MacPorts is used in the past. I would like to avoid a clean reinstallation because it takes so much time. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction? What damaged setting could cause this behavior?

Have you checked it in the preferences? Sidebar Finder - preferences - and you can check or uncheck the items you want to see in the sidebar

  • Devices do not appear in the finder sidebar

I've been struggling with this for a while. Readers and devices appear on my desktop but not on the bar side, extremely irritating. I tried a few suggestions such as the removal of the finder.plists and sidebar.plists, but it did not work. OS X Yosemite 10.10.5.

    Any help appreciated

Maybe something stupid, but don't you enable devices in Finder preferences > sidebar?

  • When I drag files in WMP the sequence of songs is not because it is in the list of files. the first certain tracks are at the bottom of the playlist

When I drag music files in WMP and in the field of reading list, the sequence of songs is not as it should be determined in accordance with the list of files in Explorer windows, the first or the first few tracks are at the bottom of the playlis.
For example when I drag the track 1 to 10 in WMP playlist could end up with the 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,1,2,3 sequence. It ranges from which follow playlist starts with, but the first track (s) (rare) is at the bottom every time.

    PS. Shuffle is not lit.

Is not necessarily any indication of a fault as WMP does this, even when it is running correctly [he apparently gets files loaded in the order that they appear in the allocation table disk files].

    You can

1 after dragging in the playlist, drag files to the top or to the bottom of the playlist in the desired order before you save the playlist.

2 Allocate Index properties for each track before slipping as WMP then normally behave correctly when you drag them.

3 you can also drag the in WMP individually to achieve the same end result.

  • Hide the Finder sidebar permanently

How do permanently hide you the sidebar Finder so that it does not appear in any Finder window? I'd be happy to be able to show when I want it, but not every time I opened a window.

Like many Mac users (and pros in particular) I constantly work with several windows open simultaneously and having several identical side bars, taking up real estate is certainly not desirable. Frankly, have to hit command-option-s, everytime I open a window is a hack.

When I press Command + Option + S to hide the sidebar, and I open a new Finder window, the sidebar is always hidden.  He returned in a new window until I chose to display it.  As far as I know however, there is no way to remove it permanently.  You can hide only, just like you can hide the sidebar in Safari.

  • List view for the Finder El Capitan (10.11.39)

    Hi all

The gap (if he is) is the following:

The small triangle on the left of a folder that is used to open the corresponding folder is not available in some windows and is available in other windows. Please look at the screenshots. In this example "PDF Documents" is at the root of a volume, and "Disk Warrior" is a subfolder of "PDF".

    Thank you for your help.

If you have a defined in this window arrangement, triangles do not appear. Use the menu command button on toolbar, or view options to define the available votes to zero.

  • Disappeared from the sidebar of the Finder. Where at - it go?

On my MacBook, I'll see something like this in the sidebar of Finder - a new feature in El Capitan. Three options will usually appear in the sidebar of the Finder, and they look like this:

However, on my iMac, the Finder sidebar has disappeared for some reason any. Only two of the three sidebar icons remain:

When I download something as an update of Adobe Flash, it appears a second in the side bar of the Finder... then faints. Before, the downloaded document would remain in the side bar of the Finder, which is really convenient.

How can I return the sidebar of Finder? Thank you!

In the finder window, try clicking on bar display which crosses the top of your screen, and then "Show toolbar".

  • Text in the text captions in the process of disappearing in Captivate 6

Hi, we have a problem of corruption. We use Captivate 6.0.1.240. The text in the slide captions disappear when we open the file. And it is only the text itself, the text box is visible. When you look at the film, the text is there, and if we select a legend on the blade and move it, the text appears again. However, if we do this, save and close the file, the text will disappear from the slide again once the file open.

These files as summer created in CS5, we later moved to CS5.5, then knit using 6. My colleague and I are working equally between 32 and 64 bit.

If someone has had this problem before or someone knows a solution for this problem? This is getting very frustrating because all our files have been to corrupt as apparent that without reason. Thank you.

    Hello

Welcome to the Forum from Adobe.

You can try copy paste all slides empty new project.

Also try to make a new empty project and insert a text caption and check whether you are faced with the same question.

    Thank you

  • I am owner of a macbook pro, last week it was slow, freezing, and when I open finder files (documents, downloads, etc.) do not appear on the sidebar in the Finder? Why is - this happened out of nowhere?

When I open the Finder, nothing appears in the sidebar where it used to have a list of downloads, documents, pictures, movies, etc. That's gone and I don't know why?

Do you mean that there is no sidebar at all, or that there is one but it is empty?

  • How can I copy the list of names of files in the finder and set the Clipboard filenames separated by commas?

Hi guys, I was wonder if anyone can give me a hand with a script.

I need to be able to paste a list of file names of the files as follows:

    0001.jpg 0002.jpg 0003.jpg 0004.jpg

At the moment, if I select the files in the Finder, copy to the Clipboard and paste them in TextEdit, they are like this:

    0001.jpg

    0002.jpg

    0003.jpg

    0004.jpg

I found a similar but slightly different script and I don't know how to change it. Here it is:

    Define extension_list to {"jpg", "" JPG","jpeg","JPEG"}

the value cbNames (Clipboard text) paragraphs

    Set csvNames to {}

the tid value delimiters to point to the text of the AppleScript

the text value of the AppleScript point delimiters ".»

-now, make a list of names without extensions

Repeat with the names in cbNames

If the point 2 of the text names is extension_list then

copy of text 1 of names at the end of csvNames

    end if

    end repeat

    Journal csvNames

-now the filenames as comma CONCATENATE string separated

the text value of the point delimiters AppleScript «»

    csvNames value cross-as text

the text value of the point AppleScript delimiters tid

There is an easier way. Open a TextEdit document and paste the list in. Place the cursor at the end of the first item and drag it to the start of the second.

Press on + command + c to copy and then command + f to bring up find it. Press command + v (do not click in the first search field). Check the 'Replace' box, click in the field replace, and then type a comma and a space.

Click 'All' and then 'done '.

  • History has not disappeared, but new pages do not stick, and library/Sidebar are empty

I think it happens started when I upgraded to the 4.0 RC version and then downgraded back to 3.6.8.

When I open the sidebar of history, there is nothing there and I can't find anything with a search. Same thing with the library; the history section of the library is completely empty.

There is even no pages visited in the current session. It's only permanently white.

    HOWEVER!

The address bar AutoComplete feature still looking for my story. Pages visited during the current session are also listed in the AutoComplete... but only for the duration of the session. They are not saved.

In addition, frustrating, AutoComplete does not appear unless at least one of the matches is saved in my story.

My Favorites are working very well. These are my lists recently closed tabs and windows; If I have a page, close the tab and restart Firefox, it won't be in my address bar autocomplete, but it will be in my recently closed tabs.

This may be a problem with the places.sqlite file that stores the bookmarks and history.
