List - the file size of reading?

I continue to obsessively adding interesting articles to the playlist of Safari. Now I have hundreds of files that I have probably not get any time soon.

The items are saved in the playlist for offline reading. If they do not consume too much storage space, I'll just leave them be. If they are, I'll have to cut, but...

I don't know where to check how large is the total collection. Where are they actually stored?

Hello

Try ~/Library/Safari/ReadingListArchives then Select Alll in the archive folder, and then click Get Info.

Or do one at a time. Each of them individually shows the size of the file.

Since you have hundreds, don't open them all at the same time. Try ten at a time.

This can be tedious unless someone else knows how to display the total size of the file of each of them.

Please could someone clarify this? I read on a few messages that if Vista SP1 is already installed then the Vista SP2 update file size should be around 40-50 MB.

  • The file size and YouTube

I'm relatively new to videos. I have incorporated a few YouTube videos on my site, but I started to play with the Prime Minister in the hope to learn to make my own videos. I wonder if someone could help me to answer a few questions about the size of the file.

A large image can greatly increase the size of the page file, in order to put a video on a page should have a huge impact. Or is the negligible impact because the video doesn't "load" until someone clicks on it?

When someone plays a video, it probably uses a lot of bandwidth.

So it occurred to me that the obvious solution to the file size band bandwidth problems and probably is bandwidth. Instead of hosting videos on my sites, I could upload them to YouTube and then embed them on my web pages.

If I use this strategy, which would help a lot in terms of use of bandwidth and page load time?

Maybe I should have put my question this way: what are the advantages and disadvantages of video hosting on your site rather than publish them on YouTube? I guess that I retain the copyright for all the videos I put on YouTube.

    Thank you.

If played from YouTube or your own web server, the file size of the video will not add anything significant to the size of the web page.  They are simply text files, very small in comparison.  Adding a video is a few lines of code pointing to the reading software and the video file itself.

If you host the file on your own server, then the bandwidth will count towards your monthly totals, while only hosted on YouTube, he obviously won't.  But the web page itself will not change much in size.

Don't know or the other of these issues matter much, however.  You can get hosting packages unlimited bandwidth for $100 / year, maybe less.

Copyright is another problem.  YouTube will take down or limit some videos under certain conditions.  (And these days, not all these conditions are fair and appropriate under the U.S. Copyright Act).  Their accommodation on your own site, this isn't a concern.  (However, it does not necessarily legal, either.)

  • Word of the file size: .docx converted in PDF format

    Hello

I use Adobe acrobat X pro and I need to convert a Word to PDF file to join with all do us commercial offers. The file size is important in order to limit the size of the mailbox content. At the moment my Word file is 25 and it's ok, but when I convert it the result is a 120 KB PDF... I did some research in the Acrobat community and they often explain to use "Save as other", but I do not have these (maybe it came with version XI).

I would like to know if anyone has an idea of what I can do with my version of acrobat to reduce the size of the file.

    Thank you

    Ben

PDF Optimization is not available in Std AFAIK. However, you asked on the conversion of a WORD file. The best way to keep the size down is to NOT use save them in Adobe PDF format. Who's using PDF Maker (the Acrobat in WORD menu) which adds tags and many other things that inflate a default PDF. If you do not use this option, then use preferences to disable the tags and other elements in the file (like all bookmarks and all the rest). The easiest way is to print to the Adobe PDF printer. Don't forget to keep your simple fonts. It is better to embed fonts when you send a PDF file to others (especially from PC to MAC Linux as the fonts on the system may be different). Don't use only not the smaller file size settings. Use Std as a minimum or press options or Print embed all the fonts as subsets. The MST is fine as long as people use Acrobat or Reader for viewing, but other viewers may not recognize the basic fonts Adobe.

At the top of the metadata in a library, you must select Exif and IPTC rather than leave it enabled by default. Then you get most of the things appear, including the size of the file.

  • Check the file size before downloading

    Hi there guys...

I'm having a problem at the moment... How can I check the file size before being transmitted to the server?

I was given a task to check if the file size limit is 500 KB and then block the download and warn the user.

According to my colleague from work... This is not possible with Javascript or Ajax... is there another method I can use?

    kindly help... Thank you

It is a good answer, but it is interesting to note that Flash Player is itself a control ActiveX (when run in IE). In short, you need something beyond code that runs directly in the browser to do this. It can be done with just HTML and JavaScript in a web page.

  • stop the images lose the file size when scaled down?

    Ive read this tutorial;
    http://joedasilva.com/blog/?p=32
and ive just discovered that if put you across a smaller image, the file size is decreased so permanent and expansion of the image again it will be pixalated. If I'm working with images and I want freedom to play with the scaling, do I need to convert them all to grafics?

Is there a setting that I can change so that the images are saved to the display resolution when I export, but maintain there full size of the file in the document? Is this how illustrator works?

Well Yes, the large version convert a graphic symbol. In this way, you will not
lost quality unless you to scale larger than the original.

  • Create new report if the file size is too large

The sequences I run in TestStand have the ability to generate large reports and I am looking for a way to start a new sequence of intermediate report if the file size exceeds certain limits, either start a new report every night at midnight.

I am currently using TestStand 2014 and reports ATML 5.00.

Here, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was hoping I'd be able to use some substitutions to get there, but it sounds a bit more complex than that. [...]

There is no specific substitutions that solve this problem 'in configuration and only few implementation".

The point is that you should follow the following steps:

    1. check the size of the file after writing a new segment of report data.

    2. If size > configured the file size, create a new file. Write a footer in the previous file, duplicate the header for the new file information and store the handle to file for all the previous files.

    3. once the test is complete, update the header in all files (remember: the header contains the overall result of the ESA.) This is known only when the test is finished!) and finalize all the report files.

In the plugins default report, none of the above functions is applied.

You want may also focus on 'File offline results' as a reporting mechanism. It might be easier to change things using this approach, unless you go the recommended manner: database.

When you try to import a .mp4 file in windows movie maker, the program does not list the file when I search for it in his file.  Help, please.

As I suggested previously, conversion to a format like
. WMV before you import it into Movie maker may be the solution.

The free Converter from Microsoft can be a place to start:

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)

Download Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 with Service Pack 1 (SP1) (freeware)

    (runs under WinXP SP3 / Vista / 7)

    When you install the program...
    Start Microsoft Expression Encoder 4
    (Start / programs / Microsoft Expression /)
    Microsoft Expression Encoder 4)

On the "Load a new project" screen...
    Left click... "Transcoding project '...

When the program opens, click on... File / import...

(If at any time you get lost while browsing
the program of... to... Window / active Reset
Type or workspace... CTRL + SHIFT + R)

Look for the file/s that you want to convert.
(If files do not appear... open the fall
    window and choose... All files)

Click (highlight) left the files and the left on the Open button.

You can see the files in the "Multimedia content" pane

In the right column... left click on the tab "Output"...

Open the drop directory window and choose an output folder.
(This is where you will find your converted file)

On the left, click on the button "encode".

Wait... video encoding CPU intensive and can
be a slow process. It is always best if you do not have
    multi-task while files are encoded.

Now... try import you again. File WMV in Movie Maker.

  • When lowering pixels of resolution of a video, the file size becomes smaller...

    Hello!

    My question is this:

    I am importing a tiff of scope (2048 X 858) 2K sequence in Premiere Pro CC 2015.

When I go to the export section, as you can see in this video link:

First Pro CC 2015 (resolution size) export settings - YouTube

and try to lower the resolution 2048 X 858, 5 X 2 or 854 X 480 or 1280 X 536! the size of the file remains the same! Is this possible?

This means that if I have a 4K video and a video card, they will have exactly the same file size!

I tried to make a sequence of low resolution and drop tiff sequence and adjustment of the sequence in the image of low resolution tiff, but I have the same problem.

I've even nested sequence of high-resolution sequence of lower resolution, but... Nothing...

Does this make sense? What I am doing wrong?

    Thank you!

    Yiannis

Yiannis, Yes. Unlike a photo, a video, the file size is determined by the data rate. However, the data/flow isn't what determines quality, you need to consider in the codec you use.

For example, a 50 Mbit/s, 720 x 480 H.264 file and a 50 Mbps DV (video only, forgetting the audio codecs) will be exactly the same size. but the H.264 file is going to be better because it's a step more coded with a better compression algorithm.

Another factor that determines the size of the file is the frame rate. I'm not saying that you should drop your rate to save space, but know that if you save 2 files with the same exact settings, but we're 30 p or 25 p and the other is 50 p or 60 p, then the latter will be twice as large.
