  On my front, I have a ListBox indicator that has strings that the user can select. Also, the user can edit items in the drop-down list to add new items. After that the user selects one and pushes my "Save" button, I use the flatten XML function to save the selection in an XML file. But Flatten XML saves only the value (the index of the selected items to the XML file and not the names of items in ListBox.) This is enough information to reconstruct from the string of data that the user has selected.

  Hello! I'm back to LabVIEW programming and fell on a problem that I can't solve.

  I am trying to use dag and drop on a list box. I put to move only and it works fine. The problem is that if I drop the moved element event goes just far. I couldn't find examples or answers in the forums.

  It is not unstraightforward.  Shift register keeps the value of the listbox on departure of drag (ie. the index of the item).

  I want to display the number of socket in the Listbox control on execution. I use DisplayExpression method, set the entry as '% TestSocketIndex', but it does not work. This methond works fine if I connect the Combobox of UI control to ExecutionViewMgr.ConnectExecutionList.

  Hey wellsc,

  I have looked at this issue and ran into the same issue you described. I dropped the CAR 482840 for a developer study the matter further. Unfortunately, workarounds only I can think immediately would be to use a ComboBox control or to implement the functionality desired by using a native LabVIEW ListBox.

  Let us know if there is something we can do to help, or if you have other questions about how to implement one of the workarounds. You can still use this CAR number to check the status of the issue, as well.

• Settlement data based on multiple selection ListBox reference need help

  The question that I have is selecting from a listbox with multiple selection to fill the tables with the selected data. My code is as follows:

  The code works perfectly up to the second if statement. My current channel group list contains 16 channels and with the second if statement guided the textbox output is equal to 16 (i.e. k = 16), which is what I expected. Im just using the k = k + 1 for the test. Eventually will be replaced by operating code specific to what I need to do.

  So the question that I have is to get the code to recognize what values are selected and referring to the index for the selections in a table. Im not sure on how to do it.

  ListBox.MultiSelection () is a function that returns an array of [multiple] selected items in ListBox.

  ListBox.MultiSelection.Count is a property that returns the number of items in the table above.

  Therefore, the logic in your second IF statement that says if ListBox.MultiSelection (j). Count = True really makes no sense because:

  1. The array returned by the multiple selection (using (j) indexing now refers to a single selected item in the list (which has not its own 'Count' property)
  
  
  2. If you don't the array index, assuming that you had selected 4 items in your list, your statement would still be actually as said if 4 = True which is not what you get.

  Make sense?

  Here is a modified version of your code that I hope makes it a little more obvious how these elements relate to one another.  Give it a run; of course, 75% of the code is extranneous to you working end to account, so make sure that you subsequently delete what you won't need.

• How to increment the index of row/column in multi-column listbox

  I developed a program in which the multicolumn list box values are read and forwarded to another mechanism. To read specific values in the list box, I used index table to retrieve the value of a particular cell to the instrument.

  Allows, for example if I want to run the VI several times and I want to increment the line index whenever the tracks VI as well as for successive runs, the values of the next level of lines are read.

  For example. I have the following listbox

  HAD Vd Vg

  1 0.3 0.2

  2 0.4 0.6

  So for the first round, based on the index which I note the listbox can read 0.2 and 0.3 and assume that if I run this VI for lets say 2 times during the 2nd time it should read 0.4 and 0.6 instead of 0.2 and 0.3.Is it is it possible to increment the line/column index automatically? Please help me because this is the last step of my project.

  Robin

  Your VI runs millions of times per second and elements within nanoseconds. You need to prevent this.

  Here is a quick modification that goes to the next line, every time that you run the VI again and again when he's run out of items.

  It might give you some ideas...

• Display all task names DAQmx in Listbox

  I have a control DAQmx task name on my VI which allows the user to choose from a list of existing tasks created in MAX.

  I prefer this list of "available tasks" to view (and possibly have a selected task) by using a listbox control.

  For the life of me I can't figure out how to get the DAQmx tasks in a listbox.

  Someone at - it advice?

  Where are you the vaiants of?  It must be an array of tasks (a task DAQmx is a type of data).  Wire just this table directly in the Ref propty to your listbox.

  We all know that a listbox control comes with a default vertical scroll bar (which can be selected or deselected).

  I have attached a vi that has the list box with visible horizontal scroll bar.

  Now, I did my self by playing with custom control and I'm unable to reproduce the same since I forgot how I did it. has anuone tried before and if yes throw some light on this?

  First use a "multi-column listbox" with visible horizontal scroll bar. Then replace you it with a simple "Listbox" and the property is preserved.

  It's strange, but it works. I guess the simple "Listbox" is a mild form of listbox multicolumn with limited options...

  I want to change the color of the items of the listbox displays as shown on ListboxTest1.vi.  I want to duplicate the same behaivor of ListboxTest1.vi on the second vi: Compare2TextFilesX.vi.

  ListboxTest1.vi works fine but not Compare2TextFilesX.vi even if they both have a similar code.

  If you want the same action simply use a shift register instead of use the iteration. Initialize the registry at offset 0 and not 1 in the case of false and just run the wire through the case of true.

  To write data to excel, you can use the worksheet functions (write to spreadsheet.vi). Input for this function will be the 1 d/2d array that will be nothing other than items in your listbox.

  To get the items from the list box, you can use the node property with the property 'Ref' where you can get all the items in the list box.

  I wanted to know if it is possible to select multiple items in a listbox without using ctrl or SHIFT key. I write code for a touch screen application and you want to activate the user select more than one entry in a listbox control.

  What you notice is something that many people have found problems with in the past.  If it is not possible to directly program LabVIEW imitate what you see then in the mode of development and does not work, it may be possible to programmatically determine the end of the transaction slip.  Here is a link to a knowledge base that describes this better:

• enable a disabled ListBox scrolling

  I have a multi column listbox (MCL) on my façade that is filled with a list of every test performed on a unit. When the user select choose a test case, the tests to be performed in the case of test are selected (highlighted) in the list box.

  By default, the control of the MCL is disabled, but by pressing a button, the user can change the sequence. To do this, I use the disable of the MCL property. The issue I'm facing is when the MCL is disabled, we cannot use the scroll bar to see the entire list to validate the selected tests. The disabled items property is not a solution because it greys the elements and deselect.

  An idea for a workaround?

  Create a transparent control of chain that is the size of the MCL and place it above and in front of the MCL. Disable this control when you want to prevent the change. Let the exposed scroll bar and you should get the features you want.

• Problems with listbox - double click

  I'm doing a program in which I'm building a dialog box by using the tab control and the user can double-click on one of the folders/files and this file must be read in the program and graphics need to be plotted.

  To do this, I use a Boolean control, if I activate it, I call a tab control with a ListBox in which I use the function of list folder to view all the files/folders in the directory I put. I was able to get the double click event to work and give me the correct path to play the file using the function "read from the spreadsheet. The part of the plot is now over, but I have problems when I try to run the program.

  The program was supposed to read the name of the cell that the user double click and only after that he reads the name I have change for a path access and then read. Which under its weight reads the file ListBox begins selected, as if I run the program once and double click on any file in the next run it will show the last selected file. The problem is that I am creating a node to invoke to reset the list box, but when I do this the program opens a dialog box to select the file to read.

  So what I need is to figure out how to do the program only runs after the user to double-click a cell, should not read the file already selected in previous executions. But I don't know what to do. Can you help me please?

  Well, you break the data flow by copying in indicators invisible only to re-read a nanosecond later. Indicators are for the user, not to store data. If you eliminate the structure of the sequence, you can wire things together directly. Data flow automatically determines the exact execution order. No required sequence.

  indicators and variable local are NOT the 'variables', they are user interface elements.

  Joined a quick attempt at a code cleanup.

  All your operations of chain cable paths are still quite fragile. You should really exploited to the way datatypes. There are probably a few broken things because I can't test. However, it should give you some ideas.

  1. I want to change the header line, by clicking on it with the "column Point to the line" as shown in the attached VI, but this seems a known error in labview and is yet to be resolved...

  2. I want to drag and drop item in listbox multicolumn even, but when I do this, the line turns empty header? Someone knows how to solve one or two problems...?

  In this case, in the drop event, that you can place code that moves the line in a case structure and make note if the line is = - 1.

  Regarding the selection of the target line, I think you will be able to do it, right?
