  You can't expect a miracle of performance once you upgraded your server configuration...
  I've seen cases w/h is no improvement or sometimes poor performance after migrating to 64-bit from 32-bit... In the end, it all comes the tuning of your application based on the 64-bit of the system power, several caches, more parallel Calc, etc... It must be tested before coming to a conclusion.

• FDM 11.1.2.1 & for the configuration of the Essbase on Windows 64-bit adapter

  I had a few doubts with the configuration of the adapter Essbase for FDM ver.11.1.2.1 on X 64 Windows environment:
  
  (1) with version 11.1.2.1, Essbase adapter upsES11GXH for FDM needs more user and Arborpath system variables. Is this correct? This is clearly mentioned in the es_g4_h_target_adapter_readme of the document of the essbase adapter available on Oracle's Web site. It asks you to delete the Arborpath if you upgrade from version 11.1.2.0 to 11.1.2.1. If you are doing a new installation the document does not claim anywhere to set the Arborpath environment variable. Version 11.1.2 necessary both the Essbasepath and the Arborpath variable must be set to < EPM_HOME > \products\Essbase\EssbaseClient-32. 11.1.2.1 version the Essbasepath must be \common\EssbaseRTC\11.1.2.0 < EPM_ORACLE_HOME >
  
  (2) I read some - where in the forum for FDM work on a x 64 windows the essmsh.exe environment should start and appear in the Manager of tasks such as essmsh.exe * 32. I tried booting from the < EPM_ORACLE_HOME > \common\EssbaseRTC folder and it gave me an error "failed to initialize MaxL. If I start from the \products\\Essbase\EssbaseClient-32 < EPM_ORACLE_HOME > MaxL shell it seems to work correctly. I am able to start the MaxL shell and I am also able to see essmsh.exe * 32 in my task manager process. What is the logic behind this?

  YES, that's correct. You don't need of the system ARBROPATH or early variable user with 11.1.2.1

  REASON, 11.1.2.1 you only need the ESSBASEPATH variable that will point to the directory EssbaseRTC\11.1.2.0 as stated in the Readme adapter guide.

  It's something that you can use to test if the environment variables are configured correctly. IF you follow the adapter Essbase readme explicitly regarding changes in variable environment, the integration works as expected.

  Yes, this path must be defined in the PATH variable. It is documented in the readme adapter guide.

• Security for the EPM Essbase system backup

• Hyperion Essbase system 9 Installation.

  Hi all
  
  I try to install the Hyperion Essbase 9.3.1 on Windows Vista system.
  
  My workstation had suite of Hyperion EPM installed previously, that I uninstalled it to test the system 9.3.1.
  
  But, when I try to install system 9.3.1 it does give me an option to change the House Hyperion. It gives me just the old path used for EMP.
  
  Please let me know if there is a work around to change this path.

  If you go in the environment variables for the machine, there will be a called HYPERION_HOME, you can change the location or remove so that you can set it up again.

  Was a little mystified by this problem. We have several Essbases that we want to use I OBIEE. Metadata is imported into a RPD and made available in the answers. When a report and you try to run, it is said that the query generated no results. Ive checked, double and triple checked that should I look for data, there is actually data. Ive been checking with Essbase and the data is there.
  The funny thing is, that when I test it on the database DEMO Essbase, can I see data fines and drill around.
  
  The only thing I can find is in the log file, where it gives me the following error. The error message below here is the one that makes the most sense...

  I think I have your answer.

  The 11g Release only supports connectivity with Essbase 11.1.1.2 out of the box.

  Clearly, you have to shoot client libraries correct Essbase for another version of Essbase that isn't 11.1.1.2 and put them in the suitable location on your server to BI. In addition, you use Essbase system 9 that actually requires a patch to integrate OBIEE 11 g. If you have not done on several steps above then your integration with OBIEE 11 g will have trouble maybe like what you are experiencing.

  Has written a post last month partially about it, but you can see where his goes from here, http://www.artofbi.com/index.php/2011/03/configure-obi-11g-for-essbase-metadata-import-integration-ootb/. I think that a support.oracle.com search meet the path for Essbase with OBIEE 11 g 9 system integration but I think that you will need a password (contact Support Oracle get) to get it.

• How to connect to the Essbase Server?

  This question may seem a little on the vague side - so apologies for that.
  
  From a point of view version 7 - the Essbase server interacts with the database server (where you load the data into Essbase of) through the defined system DSN & the TNS. But how a typical user connects to the Essbase server when using excel add to recover data?
  
  To expand a bit on this - in our environment, when a user attempts to recover data using excel add in - a box "Essbase system Login" initially appears, where the user enter the name of the essbase server used, with their own username and password. But to enter the name of the server - how excel add in physically know where to go to get data? Is there something else on the client computer where the server details are stored (ie the ip address) - a sort of equivalent DSN?

  Hi all

  I have a question about the size of the actual database in Essbase

  We can get the pagination and the size of the index file by "LISTFILES1" and "LISTFILES2" for example.

  In addition, we can run 'GETDBSTATS' to get the size of the block.

  If we tell someone what is the exact size of the database and calculate the size of all of the essbase system, should what files I add? INDEX + PAGING is fine or do we need to add anything else.

  If it is a database of the OSB and the index and pag files will be the size in bulk, I mean other files such as otl, rep, rul etc., but they do not provide much overhead.

  The problem is resolved after add "AuthenticationModule CSS" in the file EPM_instance\EssbaseServer\essbaseserver\bin\Essbase.cfg file.

• Failed to retrieve system Data Error with Essbase

  Hi all

  I get an error connecting to the target, Essbase system, indicating that 'impossible to recover the data of the target system.'   Here are the specs of my installation:

  FDM - 11.1.2.2

  Essbase - 11.1.2.2

  OS - Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit Windows

  SQL - 2008 R2

  FDM adapter - ESS11X64-J

  I've tried several things:

  (1) adapter saved again

  (2) check the parameters for integration-

  (a) machine profile - all going ot the same machine, which means Essbase and FDM are installed on the same machine.  This is a dev box.

  (b) Essbase Integration - app Essbase, db name, method of connection 2-Global = Essbase and the configuration of the dimensions to match exactly with my Essbase cube.  I tried with and without the domain name, but not luck.

  (c) size - make sure that mirror my Essbase cube Dimension names.  Active checked, use the list and the value label for each Sun

  (3) checked RTC Essbase

  People advice?  Thanks in advance!

  I have a requirement to validate certain accounts and whether or not they exist and use in Calc. We have some list of accounts per cent who have certain amounts of pilot. If the user selects the parent account, it must automatically calc with percentage accounts to generate the values for all of its children.
  
  The issue is that we have many accounts and many accounts per cent, is not that all accounts have per cent accounts. That's the problem.
