Essbase database size

Hi all

I have a question about the size of the actual database in Essbase

We can get the pagination and the size of the index file by "LISTFILES1" and "LISTFILES2" for example.

In addition, we can run 'GETDBSTATS' to get the size of the block.

If we tell someone what is the exact size of the database and calculate the size of all of the essbase system, should what files I add? INDEX + PAGING is fine or do we need to add anything else.

Thank you

If it is a database of the OSB and the index and pag files will be the size in bulk, I mean other files such as otl, rep, rul etc., but they do not provide much overhead.

If TI ASO then watch the .dat files and maybe if otl is a monster

If you want to know all the files associated with the database, then take a look at

BSO - manual backup to help and restore procedures

ASO - backup and restore Applications of global storage

You could script something to find the total size

See you soon

  • Essbase database has exploded!

    Hello

We have an Essbase database, which was about 1.9 GB until a few days back. Recently, the scenario dimension was dense to improve performance. This should have resulted in the total number of blocks and increased the block size. In our case, that the total number of blocks have increased several times - that is why the size has increased 2.5 times. There has been an increase in the size of our block (which is something that is understandable).

Hourglass has also changed hourglass on stick model. I don't know if this would have caused this.

There has been no change in outline.

We are still investigating, but any input would really help get to the bottom of this.

    Thank you

    Amol

You say that the number of level zero blocks has increased. that does not make sense to me that the number of intersections would remain the same and making the dense dimension, could increase the block size and reduce the number of blocks. I think something else is happening.

You can take a level zero export of the database (I would format column) and look at the values there. I guess that since it is a writeback (planning) application that users load zeros causing the expansion as you describe. I created routines that pass through and change the zeros are missing and have decreased the number of blocks.

Another possibility is a calc script which create blocks on the equation on or a formula that causes blocks to be created. One of my friends just having a database go to page over 100 files (before running out of space) of a formula that created blocks. He took the formula and the database is returned in a single page file and a few second calculation. Changing a dimension of sparse dense could affect your formulas and claculations.

I know will say you that you don't have control over the change, but it's the way you need ALWAYS to test these types of changes on before going to production

In the registry on the essbase and EAL servers go to

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\TCPIP\Parameters

Add the following DWORD key with decimal values

    MaxUserPort: 65534
    TcpTimeWaitDelay: 30

  • Essbase database

    Hi all
Can we archive essbase database dev and use it on essbase server in production?
    Thank you
    Maury

Essbase artifacts such as contour, rulefile calc script and script report servers are compatible n/b.
Essbase .ind and .pag files to data files are not different servers compatible n/b.
Will any archive Archive files schema and data.
You can't restore in different servers as data files are not compatible.

If you want to move an application to another server, first migrate the structure by using the Migration Wizard and then load the data from the export of lev0 of the first server.

  • How to refresh Hyperion application after you migrate Essbase database?

I want to copy my planning application from one machine to another (with exactly the same operational systems)
I did it by database Archive

    1. on the original machine
EE: Application-> database database->(Right click menu)

2 copied the file archived on the target machine

    3 on the target computer
create THE SAME application in hyperion planning and done as follows
EAS:application-> database database->(Right click menu) Resrore

    @Refresh succeeded to @.
And changed the outline in EAS

But nothing changes in the planning application. How to refresh the planning scheme?
    Thanks in advance

John is correct, I totally missed the detail that you archived of essbase database and makes the automatic assumption that you had saved/archived planning of the SQL database.

The "schema" in a planning application is 'stored' in planning using the SQL repository. The Essbase outline is the analytic representation of this sketch of planning.

To really migrate a planning application, in a way or another, you must copy the repository SQL planning in the application you are setting up, and then refresh to Essbase so going this route.

    Sorry for the confusion

FWIW, here is a list of the major steps that I used in the past to migrate 9.3 - 11 Planning (manually):

  • Backup Application Essbase, perform the export level 0
  • Backup database to Application Planning
  • An inventory of safety, dimensions, performance parameters, forms and States
  • 11, create the new application with the same Types of Plan, same currency and set of business rules
  • Stop planning in the 11 database object, move, to re-create the database object and import 9.3 database
  • Apply upgrade SQL scripts
  • ALTER table to reflect the version and Shared/Server location
  • Start the Application and validate the inventory
  • Import level 0 in Essbase
  • Test

  • Essbase database error

    Hello world

I am trying to restore a planning application, and after you restore the successfully .dmp file, I am creating the workspace Essbase database: Administration-> manage the database-> check "Database"-> Create-> create; the process fails to step 31 90 with the following error message:

com.hyperion.planning.olap.HspVerifyOutlineException: check the plan failed with the following errors:
Error [102000000] detected in Member "Rem_SL": level 0 virtual members must have a formula associated with them

The specified member is part of the sketch of the Plan2 and Plan2 (kind of regime) contour appears blank in the EA.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!

or log in Oracle support and paste

    * Error "error [102000000] detected in Member 'XXXXX': level 0 virtual members must have a formula that they are associated with" occurs when a planning Application [ID 833958.1] refreshing *.

The defined attribute (UDA) user of HSP_UDF has been configured for the Member in question through the planning of Hyperion Web client.

It is necessary for the HSP_UDF UDA be configured directly via the Essbase outline because the formula of Member has been configured by the Essbase outline.

The HSP_UDF UDA must always be enabled in the Essbase outline as the main point of the UDA must say planning member formula has been entered directly in the Essbase outline.
    Solution
To resolve this follow the steps below.
    * 1. Remove the HSP_UDF UDA, which was entered for the Member in question via Hyperion Planning Web client.*
This can be done through the Administration > Dimensions > select a Dimension in question > search for members in question > select a member > select Edit > select UDA tab and remove the HSP_UDF of the saved selection.

    * 2. Select the HSP_UDF UDA directly via the Essbase outline. This can be done through Services of Essbase Administration > Applications > contour > Select, right-click on the outline and select the option to edit > search for members involved in the sketch > right-click on the Member and select member properties > UDA > HSP_UDF enter the affect and the hit OK.*

    * 3. Update the Hyperion Planning database by logging into Hyperion Planning WebClient and return to Administration > manage data > select options and click on Refresh.*

  • SmartView 'Calc All' corrupted script Essbase database

I'm not sure that anyone has any experience of this incident before. We have end-users with the SmartView Excel of Hyperion Planning installed plugin. By default, there is an option of script that end users can click on the ' Calc all "to run.

In one incident, the user pointed out such a script to run on backend Essbase database 'Calc All'. As the work batch is quite laborious, we stop the lot via the Regional service console. But after the batch is stopped, we found that any level 0 data source disappeared - total lost! We tried to find a way to recover but without success. Finally, we need restore the full backup.

We checked with our Oracle consultant locally and they mentioned that, to stop a batch to the service console Regional is the right way to do it. It should not corrupt the database.

In any case please avoid accidental command running that script you use SmartView and Essbase. You should not prevent the lot via the Regional service console.

I don't know why an Essbase Calc default caused your data away, or why you couldn't stop him.

The problem with the planners of planning is to have this Essbase calc access. Why? A mystery.

An easy way to make sure a default Calc is not make havoc is to edit the Calc by default in the EAS do a right-click on the database by choosing together-> default Calc and removing the ALL CALC; It is here and in just a '; '. (without the quotes). This will validate yet but does nothing.

  • How to calculate my database size in essbase

    Hello

Below the my database and Member cube dimension

    Dense1 - 143

    Dense2 - 19

    Dense3 - 23

    Dense4 - 5

    Sparse1 - 9

    Sparse2 - 62

    Sparse3 - 9

    Sparse4 - 163

    Sparse5 - 52

    Sparse6 - 6

    Sparse7 - 358

    Sparse8 - 48

    Dimension = 143 * 19 * 23 * 5 = 312455.Block dense size = 312455 * 8 = 2499640.

    Sparse dimension = 9 * 62 * 9 * 163 * 52 * 6 * 358 * 48 = 4388773529088.

    Block size = 2499640 * 4388773529088 = 10970353864249500000.

I saw my database statistics, it seems that the block size is "2357520".

Can you please let me know, how to calculate the size of block on my database. Please specify the dimension members.

    Thanks in advance to everyone.

    Kind regards

    Sisi.

The dense dimension members that you specified are all STORED in nature or is he as well stocked as well as dynamic calc?... The computation of block size, you should consider only stored in the Dense breast... Still, you can find several members stored Regional service console, by going to the database-> Edit-> Properties tab and database.

everything by deploying bases of calculation and data declaration while deploying in updating database mode we get error ' error determining export type: Essbase Cube.

Please note that we have deployed the application of EPMA but while deploying of Essbase, we receive error.

We tried to deploy the databases using mode replace but it didn't work as well.

  • For Essbase databases

    Hi team,
If I use only Essbase with Shared service/APS and EAS, can you please confirm that we require only a single EMP 11.1.2.2 schema? Have we not need individual patterns for SS and EAS? I am aware that in earlier versions, we must separate schema for SS and EAS. Isn't it the same EMP 11.1.2.2?

In the earlier version (11.1.1.3) I also never used to provide database information in the Essbase server configuration, but 11.1.2.2 it looks like, to provide the login information for EMP referential system.

Please advice. Thank you for your help in advance

It is entirely your choice, it's that you want to use a schema or multiple schemas, personally I prefer to use multiple schemas as it makes life easier for the recovery and the resolution of problems.

  • The total size of the backup database and Total database size.

    Hi Experts,

    See this doc...
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B28359_01/backup.111/b28270/rcmreprt.htm#CHDBIGHG

Connect to SQL * for the database you intend to question the backup history.

Ask the view V$ RMAN_BACKUP_JOB_DETAILS for more information on the backup type, status, and the start and end time.

The following query shows the history of the backup jobs sorted by the session key, which is the primary key for the RMAN session:

    COL STATUS FORMAT a9
    COL hrs FORMAT 999.99
    SELECT SESSION_KEY, INPUT_TYPE, STATUS,

    FROM V$RMAN_BACKUP_JOB_DETAILS
    ORDER BY SESSION_KEY;

Ask the view RMAN_BACKUP_JOB_DETAILS V$ at the rate of tasks of backup in an RMAN session.

The following query shows the speed of backup job sorted by the session key, the primary key of the RMAN session. The in_sec and out_sec columns columns display the input data and output per second.

           TIME_TAKEN_DISPLAY
    FROM V$RMAN_BACKUP_JOB_DETAILS
    ORDER BY SESSION_KEY;

Ask the view RMAN_BACKUP_JOB_DETAILS V$ for the size of the backups in an RMAN session.

If you run the DATABASE BACKUP, then V$ RMAN_BACKUP_JOB_DETAILS. OUTPUT_BYTES indicates the total size of backup games written by the backup task for the database that you are backing up. To view the backup set sizes for all registered databases, ask RC_RMAN_BACKUP_JOB_DETAILS.
