  Does this mean that tar has problems reading the files and directories (they are all there) or actually implies that the permissions on d:\backupdir to get messed up?

  This means that you have another request for Cygwin installed on this machine, and it interferes with the backup. You will need to remove the apps like OpenSSH from the server and make sure that the following registry key is empty:

  HKLM/Software/Cygnus Solutions / Cygwin / mounts v2

• Fill cpQuizInfoStudentName with any LMS

  With no involved LMS, how can I get people cpQuizInfoStudentName? If I put in a short answer survey question to collect the name of the student, how can I get the content of the response to use later? I need the quiz to make another widget works so I thought using a quiz question and collect the name. Thank you. Cp7/PC

  Why not use a text input area to request the name. Remember to associate cpQuizInfoStudentName with this TEB instead of the generic variable created by Captivate (which has the same name as the TEB). You can do this, using the X button next to the field with the name of the Variable.

• Captivate 8 - project published in smaller than Captivate files 6 LMS?

  I had a 'small' problem - haha.

  When I publish a project in Captivate 8 (original size: width: 1024px | height: 768px) in our LMS, it appears almost half the size (width: 584px: height: 438px) other files (which belong to the entire training).

  Old projects were made with 6 Captivate.

  I wouldn't change a thing, I just open the file .cptx with CP8, saved and published (HTML5 only).

  There is a problem with Captivate 8 or is the problem on the LMS side?

  (PS: Sorry, I don't know exactly what LMS this is, but it is said LMS3 (of schenck.de AG))

  The problem was on the side of LMS! The container-size space was too small!

• Is it possible to use Acrobat Connect Pro as your LMS?

  I believe it fits into your current LMS... but the functionality it seems to accomplish what I need: courses e-Learning hosting for my external clients, filing, certificates.  Any thoughts?

  You're right that I missed the boat on the answer to that question... guess I read a little of what I thought that the question should be, not what it was. Thank you for calling my attention to this fact.

  Connect can be used as your LMS? Yes. There is the learning module that allows the provision of training on demand (concurrent learner license) and live and follow-up training (named Virtual Classroom Manager licenses). While the connection is more than a light weight, LMS, it pasbien needs more organizations for the provision of training user and follow-up.

  For the content of the application, there is no need to start the connection interface (meeting room, is what I assume you mean), training courses (single object) or Curriculum (collection of learning objects) will have a single URL for access. If you use a virtual class then courses on request can be initiated at the synchronous session and all the interactions between the participants will be followed.

• Related projects do not work in LMS

  Help!  I need to connect 3 Captivate 3 project and run them in my LMS.  I have boxes to click at the end of parts 1 and 2 that open the next project on the success.  All 3 parts are published as SWF files that run in their respective folders of HTM.  I have then copy the SWF and HTM file with parts 2 and 3 in the file published for part 1 (as the help screens indicate) and publish it on my LMS.  When I run the content object, part 1 works perfectly and then trying to access part 2 (I see the first screen in part 2 momentarily on the screen) and then it just hangs.  The course closes right down and I have to kill Internet Explorer out.

  Does anyone have any experience with online courses that use publishing Captivate projects?  Can someone give me advice/instruction on how to do it correctly?  I'm obviously missing something.

  BTW, I should mention that it works perfectly well outside my LMS.

  A great reference for questions SCORM is the ADLnet Web page: http://www.adlnet.org/Technologies/scorm/default.aspx

  They have a documentation, courses, etc. etc.

  Below, I glued the JavaScript calls that allows us to unload a page of Captivate (or Flash). I've also posted an excerpt from the ScoFunctions.js file that contains the commands of SCORM. It's SCORM 20004 , 3rd edition.

  We do it in two different ways in fact.

  1. If we want to advance to the next SCO we simply call the following Captivate - JavaScript code unloadPage ('completed');    

  This will call the unloadPage function in scoFunctions.js which in turn calls the doQuit function. (both highlighted in red below)

  2. If we want to use the advanced navigation we use first orders adl.nav.request. We use this, if we have a main menu where the user can jump to specific chapters (SCO) or where our navigation allows you to return back and before between SCO as see fit them.

  To go to the next SCO, we call doSetValue("adl.nav.request","continue"); unloadPage("completed");

  To go to the previous SCO we call doSetValue("adl.nav.request","previous"); unloadPage("completed");

  To jump to a specific SCO (for example in a menu), we call

  doSetValue ("adl.nav.request", "{target = POINT-C15736F9AFDBFEE187B4FF25D4CD7FAB} selection"); unloadPage ("completed");

  The number is the element number for that particular SCO - you can see them when you make your manifesto to Reload.

  Please note that the examples of navigation adl.nav.request require SCORM 2004 3rd edition to work. If you have a 1st and 2nd edition on your LMS it won't work!

• Captivate and LMS

  My company is looking into getting an LMS. A question that has been asked is is it possible for Captivate and LMS system work together and remember how a user got through a module and return to that point at a later date?
  
  For example I have a 30 slide module whose question pools - the user happens to slide 20 - must disconnect and go to a meeting - when they return can they begin from the point in the module that they had left it (slide 20)?

  Yes it is possible. Captivate has the bookmark function that uses the SCORM interface.

  I used it on our LMS company without any problem. You should use Captivate to do the imsmanifest and select report options in Captivate.

  A problem with the function of bookmark in Captivate is that the user is not asked if he wants to pick up where they left off, but simply transferred. This is the reason why we do not use the Captivate bookmark solution because we like to give users the choice from the last point or start over.

  Another problem is that when the user has reached the last page of the course which will always be the bookmark page. This means that whenever a user starts the course even after finishing to complete once they will be transferred to the last page of the course. You can fix this with a little 'hack' - see here more http://www.captivate4.com/2008/11/25/reset-bookmark-in-captivate-3/

  We have developed our own bookmark function we use instead. It's a flashfile which we insert in Captivate and that reports the progress of the race and store it in the LMS. When a user starts a course again once they are requested of if they want to continue or go back to page 1. It's a better solution than Dove built in function.

• Does not meet a request to shutdown or restart

  MacBook Pro retina, 15-inch, late 2013 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 running OS El Capitan worm 10.11.6, it fails to respond to a request in the Apple menu to stop or restart.  I checked to see if all programs work always stop preventive action.  the only way to stop the mac is to hold down the power button and force a shutdown.

• My iMac can't sleep; I have a request to someone who has an iMac sleeping properly.

  My iMac has constantly made call sleep and wakes up on the screen every 15 minutes approximately.  I ran the "journal of the pmset g" Terminal command and tries to interpret the results.

  May we with a Mac post well behave the terminal results in "Journal of the pmset g" so I can see what looks like a normal output?  It will help me to get a better idea of what's different in my results.

  Fact the colossal mistake of buying my daughter an iPod Touch 5th (iOS 9.3.5) for her birthday and defining its place as a member of the family in iCloud, so no matter what application it wants to download (and God, there are many of them) must be approved by me. Not a smooth process.
