Load an old version of Photoshop (Photoshop 6) in Windows 7

I recently bought a new PC running Windows 7. I have old copies of some programs, including Photoshop 6 I want to use. They do everything that I need, if I do not want to pay to upgrade. Photoshop does not load in Windows 7. I can do anything on this subject?

I believe that Photoshop uses a 16-bit Installer until version 7. A 16-bit installation program will never run under Windows 7 64 bit, but you have a good chance to run in compatibility mode under Windows 7 32 bit.

If you have a 64 bit version of Windows 7, I think you will need run and install Virtual PC in XP Mode to have any chance of a fully operational 16-bit subsystem. If you are running Windows 7 Professional or ultimate, you can use Windows XP Mode and Virtual PC.

Note: you cannot run in XP Mode on Windows Home editions. If you use Windows 7 Home Premium, you can use Virtual Box, DosBox or any other program 3rd party virtualization that works with Home Premium. Visit the forums dedicated to these programs for more information.
