loading 32-bit programs on a 64-bit system
I just bought a Compaq 64 bit Windows 7. I want to load an older copy of civilization (civ2) top and it seems to load, but it won't work. The message I get is that it does not find c:\windows\system32\original. I'm assuming that as my computer is 64-bit, it is not just the file on my system. Is there a way I can make it work or am I out of luck?

Is Lightroom 6 or its Setup program runs only on 64 - bit systems?
Hello
I purchased the desktop version of Lightroom 6, downloaded a single binding for Windows Installer in the 'Downloads' page and launched it.
Then I get this message "failed installation: this product can only be installed on a 64-bit system".
I use Windows 7 32-bit system but until that time, I was not informed Lightroom (or its installer) only works on 64-bit system - or does it also on 32 - bit systems and if so where can I find the installer for 32 - bit?
I already paid and need to use this product for my project.

vCenter 4 installation program cannot find the 32-bit system dsn
I try to install vcenter 4 and keep my existing database (on the remote sql server)
I created a system dsn by using the following page: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1010401
But the dsn appears in the installation screen.
The only option I get: (please create a 32-bit system DSN)
No idea how to fix this?
I try to install on windows 2008 standard x 64 vcenter.

8007371c with windows update error code. Vista Home Premium 32-bit system.
I have Vista Home Premium 32 bit system and I have problems with windows update since early April.
The system attempts to update 2807986 KB, 2809289, 2808735, 2820917, 2813345, 890830 (eventually successful), 2817183, 2813170 and 2823324. These will not update after many trials and the system will display an error message saying that some changes could not be completed, returning from changes, will try again on start up, do not turn off.
On reboot, it gives the message that the updates are not configured correctly, returning changes, do not turn off. I get the 8007371c error code in the popup window windows update but can't find specific information on this code. Help please!
Thank you.

Method 2:
You can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
I suggest to put the computer in a clean boot state, and check if the problem persists, see the link:
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: See step 7; Reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting is performed.Method 3:
You can temporarily disable the security software and check if the problem occurs. Check out the following link to do the same thing:

64-bit system cannot install flash player
Help!
Hello
I don't see any artwork/photos on Web sites. The photo has an 'x' in a box in the upper left corner of the picture frame always and tells me that I need to install Flash Player. I have a 64 bit system and told me to make my computer a 32-bit system to install FP. No same indication as like going to this topic or if I shouldn't!http://kb2.Adobe.com/CPS/000/6b3af6c9.html
Read the info at the Adobe link above.
The Internet Explorer shortcut in the Quick Launch toolbar, and in the x 64 Vista Start menu will run the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer by default. Why run the 32-bit version if IE on the 64-bit version of Vista?
There are actually two shortcuts for Internet Explorer in the "Programs" menu Why two and what is the difference?
This is the title of each and they run exe:
Internet Explorer
"C:\Program Files (x 86) \Internet.Internet Explorer (64-bit)
"C:\Program may Explorer\iexplore.exe.One runs IE in the "Program Files (x 86)" folder, this is the 32-bit version. The second is the 64-bit version.

How can I make the Quick Launch shortcut to run the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer?
- Right click on the shortcut
- Click 'properties '.
- On the shortcut tab, replace the contents of the text box 'Target' with the target of the shortcut in the menu 'Programs' 'Internet Explorer (64-bit)'.
- Happy surfing using IE 64 bit
There are traps to running the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer?
In fact I know there. At the time where as I write this there are no 64-bit version of Flash Player. So, if you need to view a Web site that uses Flash, then you will need to use the 32 - bit IE version. at least for now. I'm sure that Adobe is going to release a 64 bit version of Flash Player at the end of January when Vista shipped to consumers. But then again, maybe not since Vista x 64 works 32-bit IE by default.
If you have any other IE questions:
It comes with Vista, upgrade install and activate Forum.

Win 7 thinks that I have a 32-bit system when I try to install the 64-bit and he thinks I have the 64 bit when I try to install the 32-bit version
I know I am running vista 64-bit, it states that in the system propertiesI have a HP Pavilion A6700, when I went to upgrade to Vista 64 bit to win7 64-bit (win7) said I can't upgrade an OS to a 64 bit one, so I tried the other way and tried to install the 32-bit 32-bit version, and then I got the msg, you cannot pass an OS 64-bit for a
32 bit one, I looked in the system properties and it is running vista 64-bit
Other than a clean install what can I do to improve?
and if I do a clean install which are the files I need backup so I don't lose my data?Make sure you have the latest Service Pack for Windows Vista installed. Which edition of Windows Vista 64-bit you're running and what edition of Windows 7 you are trying to upgrade to?
Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannowThis will check for any breach of integrity
Restart your system
In addition, run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, it will scan your system and provide a report telling you if your PC can run Windows 7, and if there is no compatibility problems with your hardware or programs.

The Lenovo onekey recovery was accidentally removed from my laptop G570 - which uses a 64-bit Windows 7 system. The Lenovo support section gives two options for restoring onekey to my machine: a 32-bit or a 64-bit. I choose the 64-bit download and download the driver. However, it will not be installed and the message comes back on: "this must be installed on a 32-bit program.
There is no doubt that I do the right choice of a 64-bit download for a 64 bit system. What can go wrong?Thank you in advance.L.AffleySince it is a specialized Lenovo software, you would probably need to speak directly with support from Lenovo.
It is not uncommon that the download link points to the wrong queue (s).

I have a Windows 7 64-bit system I bought a provider on the local computer for a long time with Windows installed.
I replaced my hard drives of 500 GB (mirrored RAID configuration) system with hard drives of 1 TB.
After replacing the readers, I also installed a set of Windows updates. We update failed. After you restart the computer, I ran Windows update again. It seemed that all upgrades completed.
HOWEVER, I now have the message "this computer is not running Genuine Windows". Windows Indexing is not running, send me problems in Outlook and elsewhere.
I saw discussions on the online forum on the problem "Not genuine" resulting from an update of Windows failed and resulting also to change the hard drive.
I led Activation (slui.exe 3) typed in the product key from the sticker on the computer and it activates OK but does not erase the message.
I clicked on pay online now and ran legitcheck.hta and my system has failed validation. The options are to buy or to perform a new installation of Windows.
I have a lot of programs installed on the computer, and I can't lose all configuration data and reinstall all programs. That would take several days and I would not have a system can be used in the meantime.
I ran the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool (1.9.0027.0) and have these results below.
There are a lot of files file mismatches and "tampered with". I believe that this is due to the update has failed.
I thought to manually rerun all updates that goes back to the date when first I struggled (about a month). However, I wasn't sure if this solves the problem or make worse it.
You can leave the data below what actions I need to take the next?
I am a independent and use this computer to work. I have backups of my data files, but it is many installed applications that I can't do without.

I tried to load the 32-bit driver on the 64 bit system and could not do. I tried to load the 64 bit 32 bit system driver and does not... I didn't chance to find answers in the other boards except they usually referring to the fact that it is possible.
I can share files without problem. Any solution? Thanks for any help
I found my own answer and thought I should share.
Hi guys
I hope that this could help save a bit of research and serious puzzle.I have a native machine to Vista X 64 bit with some printers on it with 64-bit drivers, but still need to connect / access these printers on some machines to Windows XP bit (32).
"You cam't use the usual thing to set up a local since tcpip port drivers 32-bit installs not on the 64-bit computer, and in all cases, you will get - driver invalid for this OS" or an equivalent message.
In any case, here's how - simple when you know how, but it took me FOREVER to find the answer.
(1) make sure that on the remote computer if ensure that you have enabled sharing so you can access the device remotely on your network printer.
(2) Please make sure you have the correct native drivers installed on your XP machine.
(3) in the new printer ADD Wizard (Panel) set up LOCAL printer add ATTACHED to THIS COMPUTER (ignore the fact that it is on the remote machine) and uncheck the automatically search plug-and-play devices.
We're going to 'Poodlefake' the remote printer to think that it is actually attached to the 32-bit machine this is why you must have the correct driver installed on the 32-bit computer.
(4) now, click NEXT. Create a new port-LOCAL port type online. Click next
(5) on the next screen, you will need to enter a port name.
What you have to do here, is to enter the \\computername\sharename
for example, if your remote computer is studionetwork and that you have shared the printer as epson1290
then enter here \\studionetwork\epson1290(6) you will get a prompt (on the XP machine) which driver you want to use - because you have already installed the drivers then just scroll down until you see the correct printer.
-That's just mainly a test page and it works - your pilot will be just 'Pass through' 64-bit machine.
TOU will not however in most cases be able to recover data from the printer such as the levels of ink etc. You will have to do it on the remote computer.
Hope this helps - I know a lot of people are upgrading machines now - then you might have a certain 32 / 64-bit mixed environments and of course some older printers will not even 64-bit drivers.
Note that this works as well - reverse your computer 64 bit VISTA or Windows 7 can use a printer connected to a 32-bit computer. Do in the same way.

Hello
I see that the device is not compatible with Windows 7:
It would be best to contact the manufacturer for assistance.
You can check out the following link and check if it helps:
I suggest you to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if it works:
However, you can install drivers Windows Vista/Windows XP on Windows 7 in compatibility mode.

Can I put my system 32-bit on a 64 bit system with disks of Windows 7?
My system is a 32-bit, but recently I bought a program that doesn't work with 64 bit systems... can I move from a 32-bit to a 64-bit with Windows 7 software CD or do I need a computer of the necessity? How do I if possible?
Yes you can. However to move from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version, you need to perform a "Custom" / Clean install because there is no 'Upgrade' path. ".
This means until you save the data files (Documents, Photos, music, Etc.) on an external device. You will also need to reinstall your applications, search then the product key and installation media for each application that you have installed on your 32 bit OS before you start.
So backup any important data files (Documents, Photos, music, etc.) on an external drive or DVD before starting.
