Location of background/wallpapers in Vista?

Hello :)  I've selected a new wallpaper and now want to return to my old, but I can't find the folder where it is stored.   The help file for change of office did not help.  I know that there is a folder somewhere with my collection of wallpapers!  Help, please?  Thank you very much.

Elly

Hello EllySun,

Click on Start (orb) > click computer > double click on your C drive > click Windows > click Web > click on wallpapers. Your default wallpapers are stored there. Let us know whether, if this helped you. Make it a great day!

  • Where to download wallpapers of Vista...

    Greetings,

My wife and I have Windows 7, responsible for both our desktop computers. However, my Dell XPS is still running Vista, Vista has limited the desktop backgrounds. Particularly useful if you also "fingers lazy to cause to be spoiled by easy access to Windows 7 at this and that." Question: "is it possible to download backgrounds of Windows or other reliable sources without paying an arm and a leg?

    Thank you... ~ Harold ~.

    ~ Har

    Well Yes

    Wallpapers from microsoft: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/personalize/wallpaper-desktop-background

If you download these windows 7 themes: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/personalize/themes and change of the .cab file extension .themepack (eg. for Arctic.themepack, replace .themepack .cab), then unzip the cab file, you can use the wallpaper inside.

  • silly question on the background picture in vista

I'm curious, does anyone know where the 'img22' in background windows vista images was taken?
the image is of an Alpine Lake and probably sunrise. It looks like somewhere in the mountains of the sierra nevada, but would be too Rocky.
the only available detail is taken by steve fu and copyright microsoft.

    Hi Danwill11,

Thanks for posting your question on the Forums of Windows Vista.

The image you're talking about is indeed to the Virginia Lakes, mountains of the Eastern Sierra Nevada.

    I don't really know if it's a sunrise or a sunset.

Hope the information will help. Please post back and we do know.

  • Window / folder size, location, & cache error display. Vista Ultimate 64

    Hello

I had this problem before and only way I fixed it was a reinstall, but I really don't want to go that far.

Essentially of minute-to-minute my vista ultimate 64 keeps forgetting each size of the window, the place and the display mode.

If I put a folder/window to a size specific to a certain place and see the files in a certain way then close this folder

and re open minutes or stright after returning to the default size and display.

Sometimes, it keeps the setting for day and most of the time he loses their from minute to minute, its really annoying.

There is no program installed on my machine which will be clearing the size/location cache so im guessing it is a fault of windows.

    Any ideas?

  • Cannot locate the network after reinstalling Vista

I just had to reinstall vista (based on the recommendation of the forum do how can I install/uninstall anything one way). Now I can't connect to the internet, or my network. I have a laptop Dell Inspiron 1525.

It seems that I reinstalled the network adapter - at least when I started there was no category "network adapters" in the Device Manager, and now he has one with Marvell Yukon 88E8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller under it.

Thanks to a different compurter I downloaded the thing Dell told me to download when I typed in my Service tag.

Also, I downloaded and installed the service packs 1 and 2 since for Vista, since I knew that they were on my orginal OS.

In looking at the network and sharing Center, it seems that network discovery is turned off.  I tried to turn it on, but nothing happens.

Any ideas on what to try next?

In addition, I don't know if it's relevant or not, but when I reinstalled my OS, I thought everything would be gone, but the memory is always at the same level as it was before resettlement.

    Much obliged,

    Gregg

    Hello

Did you follow the directions of Dell to reinstall Vista?

You do not say if yoyu used their disks or you have used the recovery Partition to do.

Here are two ways for you to read and see if it's what you were doing.

    Using the Dell recovery partition:

  • Background processing by Vista slow Mac OS

I noticed that after I deleted the window Vista and worked in the Mac world, everything was much slower. So I turned on the Mac activity monitor and discovered that VMWare used a piece of resources. I have re-energized Vista and discovered that the only possible task that would consume any resource is the Antivirus program that I had running when the screen saver is on the rise. Apparently, the screensaver came the appropriate period and who has set in motion the antivirus program. This raises the question of whether Vista is vulnerable to viral attack, while it is deleted but not suspended. That can happen only if it has access to the network. If it is still active on the network, then updates and viruses and everything else is potentially active. Is there a control over this?

    Ray Zachary

It could be a setting in the Antivirus program - a number of them will scan while the screensaver is active files on the disk - also if you have a screen saver for your brand of virtual machine what it justs blanks the screen - something more will put a load on your host system.

If a virtual machine is removed it will continue to run then yes it could be vulnerable if you do not have a program of antivirtua running - in order to control this you will have to treat it like a physical machine - power off, suspend it or make sure you have an antivirus update running program.

  • How can I get my background back?

Some time ago I put this setting the wallpaper is blocked or covered or something like that.

Now, I want to have my wallpaper but I can't find this setting more. He was not on "Visual settings" or 'The desktop background settings' of Vista so I think she must be from Toshiba.

This setting does not remove the background completely because for example when shut down the computer when the windows icons and the taskbar disappears the wallpaper I put can be seen. Anyone have idea where that parameter could be found?

    Hello

As far as I know, Toshiba has never offered 'own' settings for wallpaper, just some specific pictures of Toshiba and you can find them the following options for wallpaper.

I must also say that I don't understand how you have 'blocked' wallpaper. ?:|

  • Files & folder sharing between XP, Vista, Seven with password protected

How to share files or folder between XP, Vista & seven... must password protected
My vista and my friend seven sharing very well, is password protected and I would like to add another XP at the center network and sharing as well, but I find the xp you have a problem, it can make sharing with vista & seven only without password protected and I would like to know how can I do with password protected sharing.
    Below are done on xp:
    1. install the update kb922120
2.secpol.msc-> authentication security LAN network manager set to send LM & NTLMv2 - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated.
Using Xp to Vista to access, seven a shared folder, no problem, while the password protected is located next
Using XP to Vista, the folder shared seven, the access you have problem while the password is defined on
It show no permission, but suppose that displays the prompt for credentials...

Problems sharing files between computers on a network are usually caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or a firewall neglected (including a dynamic firewall in a virtual private network); or (2) inadvertently run two firewalls such as the firewall of Windows and a third-party firewall. and/or (3) do not have accounts to the same users and passwords on all computers in the workgroup. (4) tries to create actions where the operating system does not.

In Windows 7, go to control panel > everything in Control Panel > network and sharing Center. Click on "change the advanced sharing settings. You don't want to use the residential group unless you have all Windows 7 machines. If you do and you want to use the homegroup, see Windows 7 Help & Support. Otherwise, in sharing advanced:

Discovery of plug in the network
Open the files and printers sharing
Turn on the sharing section Public folder sharing
    Plug the password protected sharing

    A. configure the firewall on all machines to allow traffic to local area network (LAN) as being approved. With the Windows Firewall, running on Windows 7 sharing files and printer as above will take care of this for you. If you are not running a third-party firewall or you have an antivirus/security with its own firewall component program, then you're fine.  With a third-party firewall, I usually set up the allocation of LAN with an IP address range. E.g. would be 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. Refer to the safety of any third party program or the user forums for how to correctly configure its firewall. Do not run more than one firewall. DON'T STOP FIREWALLS; CONFIGURE THEM CORRECTLY.

    (B) to facilitate the Organization, put all computers in the same workgroup. This is done from the System applet in Control Panel, the computer name tab.

    C. create the counterpart of the user accounts and passwords on all machines. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and assigned to each user account passwords can be different; accounts/passwords just need to exist and to match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this:

Start > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

    D. Si one or more of the computers on your network are XP Pro or Media Center, turn off Simple file sharing (Folder Options > view tab).

    E. create share as you wish. In Windows 7 I usually share the Desktop of the user and the Public directory. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

    E-mail

MY Windows Vista had to be restored on my computer.  I lost my e-mail folders that I had saved.  Is there anyway to restore these files?

Messages are stored as eml files.  Is there no eml files, then there is no message.  Check in the windows.old directory if there is one, because it may contain old data.  The location of the message in Vista store is c:\users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows mail, so you might check there.
