location of chip BIOS DV8-1000cto

I'll put it here and it would be great to get an answer, but I don't expect one. Trying to help someone else with their BIOS problem I ended up corrupting my own. I tried using the same method I used to save my HDX18, but it got to the point where the machine doesn't even recognize the USB flash drive more.

Here's a thread I found that summarizes all the steps, I tried.

http://Forum.NotebookReview.com/HP-Compaq/479375-HP-Pavillion-DV8-DV8-1090ev-USB-flash-drive-BIOS-re...

There is also a link here that speaks of a whitepaper from HP to save the BIOS in a root directory on the USB flash drive, which is very hard to explain.

http://h20000.www2.HP.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/document.jsp?objectID=c01670688 & lang = to & CC = US & taskI...

So I gave up all of this and I decided to resolder a new preprogrammed chip, which is easier in the long run anyway.

The problem is that there are two Winbond (a BIOS chip manufacturing) pieces of BIOS on the motherboard, which is the BIOS chip. It was suggested that one is a controller for the keyboard.

One near the keyboard ZIF connector is 25X16AVSIG and the other across the MoBo close optical drive connector is 25X40AVSIG.

Which is the right to replace?

What I really need, is for a person of HP to take a quick look at the schema for the MoBo and tell me who's who.

It is the only near the keyboard ZIF connector, the other is for the video BIOS.

  • Where is the location of the bios on a Satellite Pro 4200 battery?

I need to change the battery of the BIOS on my laptop satellite. Could someone point me to the correct location on the computer of the battery.
    Thanx

It is not the problem to say where is the CMOS battery location but do you really want to disassemble this laptop on your own and without maintenance manuals?

In any case, you must remove top of keyboard and coverage. If I remember well the CMOS battery is placed on the left side of the mouse buttons.

Remember that you must use exactly the same CMOS battery. Use of incorrect batteries may ends with the explosion of the battery.

  • Satellite M30-chip Bios - where to buy?

    Hello
I have a really serious problem. A few days ago I tried to do an update of the BIOS with the intent to fix some bugs. Unfortunately, there was a power failure that crashed my phone. I am shure that I have ki * led Bios... The problem is, that my warranty is over two months ago, so I am really pi * sed. I went to a computer store to get more information and they told me, the Bios chip is welded. Even if they try to get rid of him, there is no way to Flash the chip, because they do not have a slot for this kind reader.
The question is: where can I get a stupid chip? Because they want me to buy a new as 350 euro meinboard!

It would be nice if someone could me!

    Hey MrBruns

Sorry to hear this story as you know (now) the BIOS update is risky and the bad or worn BIOS update procedure may damage the motherboard.
Unfortunately, I think that it is not possible to buy a single ROM for this motherboard!

In any case, I really recommend contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country for help. Maybe you are a lucky man and the module ROM must be flashed again only on the special track

  • All new ThinkPad 10 has a located on the BIOS supervisor password!

I tried to do some exploring of the BIOS and found that once I started it, I was invited to a supervisor password. It's a brand new/sealed ThinkPad 10 I got 2 days ago.

Is there a default supervisor for the BIOS password? I tried (which it does not even consider an acceptable password to only submit), I tried my password user (just in case)... nothing works.

The indicator shows nothing else than a command prompt to the supervisor: with user: below it.

    WTH!

Got understood it; Although a new tablet, he had apparently been unsealed and deployment done on it and the password has been set during this process. I got the password and was able to enter the BIOS (and more important still, delete it)

    Hello

If the drive does not appear in the BIOS, there is a hardware problem - either with the player, wiring,
    or the motherboard interface circuits.

Check with a real computer store (the one that makes its own internal circuits and not of leeks and poster

  • Brick machine after BIOS update

Here is a method that has worked for save a laptop HDX18 running an Insyde BIOS.

Download the latest BIOS for this model.

    FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp51501-52000/sp51618.exe

Save it on the desktop and use 7-Zip to "extract the files, when you open it you will find a file with the name of 3610F34.fd.

Rename this file to 3610.BIN (I used the capitols)

Enter a USB flash drive 2 GB or smaller and it must automatically be formatted in FAT32, when it's done copy and paste your BIOS file, newly appointed to the flash drive, safely eject the drive on your computer. (not just pull the USB port)

    On my HDX18 Bricked.

Remove the battery and the adapter and hold down the button for 30 seconds to do a hard reset.

Plug the flash drive into one of the ports USB left , hold the 'Windows' + 'B' key and hold your it plug the adapter.

Start the laptop should begin to beep and read the flash drive, release the keys when and finished the laptop turns off. Let stand for 3 minutes and Windows.

This method has done does not on my dv8, or done a job here for mrtranmsb:

I had my dv8 two choices to replace the system board or replace the BIOS with a pre-programmed one chip.

In my case, I was certain that it was a bad BIOS update because the machine was in perfect health before the flash.

I decided to replace the chip, and 'My Tech' was most useful in the identification of the chip of the BIOS as well as Note Book Review. I bought the chip of 'My Tech'

While all mean, this means that if your laptop is out of warranty , there not a lot of options to fix things.

Most of the people do not have the skill that it takes to resolder a BIOS chip on the motherboard, and in this case, a replacement motherboard is the only alternative.

    OR

If you have all your hard drive partitions in tact (the key is the HP tools partition), you may be able to save the BIOS of this partition by organizing the 'Windows' + 'B' key down to start. This works as with the factory original OS installation, you don't have not changed or added to partitions and if your machine is more recent then 2010.

Before you try everything before, make sure that it is in fact a corrupted BIOS problem.

Also note that this thread is only dealing with an Insyde BIOS, not Phoenix or any other.

    Hi again,

  • White screen of HP Pavilion dv5 1002nr start-up and error code lights flashes twice, corrupt BIOS!

Equipped with a corrupt BIOS, I struggle to try to replace the BIOS of the motherboard.

The processor is a AMD Turion series.

Question, can anyone tell me definitively when the BIOS chip is located on the motherboard.  It seems to be next to the RTC battery on a piece of white under layer in the cutting of a transparent plastic layer.

Also, is this the only way to save the laptop from the corrupted BIOS will not work the POSITION for me to get into the BIOS to try to restore or update?

It is laptop a grandson and grandpas still inherit this type of problems.

I'd appreciate any help, instructions or information on this seemingly hopeless situation.

    Thank you

You are right about the location of the BIOS chip, this is a chip of 8 spindles/leg next to the battery.  The only other option if you are sure it's bios is to replace the motherboard.  The bios chip is on ebay for $20 to $30.  I have the same problem with the same laptop and I think I'll just bite the bullet and replace the motherboard, if the problem was caused by overheating it could have other problems that surface after replacing the bios chip and you will be chasing ghosts.  The motherboard is also on ebay for $ 119 to $ 175, for the moment.  I hope this helps.

  • Satellite Pro S300 - 117 PSSB0E Bios Recovery disk?

Hi I have a Satellite Pro S300-117 PSSB0E-04J00UEN, and it seems that the BIOS was damaged when turned on the power lite 2 flashes green and 2 orange

I'm looking to be able to rewrite the BIOS using a usb floppy drive or usb key that emulates a floppy drive.

The problem is that I can not locate the file bios containing the bios Setup disk can anyone help?

I believe also that the press/hold button when you turn on the power is the one above the tab key but also saw other keys such as F, F, F12 FN and ~. If all the instructions would also be appreciated.

    Kind regards

    > The problem is that I can not locate the file bios containing the bios Setup disk can anyone help?

I could find a BIOS for this series on the Toshiba driver page we
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/downloadDetail.jsp?soID=2496404&PF=true

Zipped package contains the based victory and based back the version of the BIOS.
Unpack this package and read the readme.txt file

There you can find the details of the update of the BIOS using the diskette

  • Portege 2010 - bad BIOS (block3)

    I have a portege 2010 with a bad bios
on normal startup, it goes to screen
BIOS (Block3) is damaged! (Call the repairman).

so I tried to reflash the bios in the usual way.
    do a disk with
    -----
    biosfile biofca6t.com
    chgbiosa.exe
    -----
and start either with the flashing the BIOS button (just to the left of the space bar)
or by pressing any key on-screen "block3.

It does not load the program chgbiosa.exe. who reads the bios file
    Hot flashes and it recharges
    -----
    Reading BIOS file...
Data erasure and writing the BIOS...

    ROM write successful!
    Utility finished
    -----
    Then it restarts

but unfortunately. nothing changes. He still goes to the display of block 3

so I think I can have damaged the chip of the bios on my hands.
Since the successful re-flash does nothing...

    -----------------
    NOT RECOMMENDED
So I decided to check if the chgbiosa actually do anything.
so, during the writing process, I unplugged the power.
(incomplete writing process) and I'm done with a (block 1)
damaged. An another bios update later.
and we are back to (Block3)
so it does not write in the bios
DO NOT TRY THIS: can erase the part "failsafe" of the bios
    ---------------------
so the question is. Where should I go from here.

I'm willing and able to unsolder the chip and flash also
but I don't have a bios not 'complete' user flashable part only of it since the official updates of the file...

can I order a new chip preflashed somewhere?

can I somehow totally clear the bios user box then it reflashing?

can - I somehow replace the bios (more than the standard chgbiosa way?)

can I transplanted the and of a motherboard Portege 2000
(the failsafe will start so I can flash with a bios P2010?)

I can start another tool, describing it as "chgbiosa.exe" on the floppy drive, which can be useful

can I do the smaller biosfile, so it won't need block3 (remove the logo toshiba etc.)
    from the rom file?

    Any suggestions are appreciated

This notebook is a project of the company. I am prepared to do anything...

    Hello

So many questions, and most of them must be answered by technicians. I really think you need professional help. I recommend you to call the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.
To be honest, I don't think that you will be able to order this chip anywhere. Speak with the service.

By the way: mainboard renovated for Portege 2000/2010 with work well chip BIOS, I found on eBay for 39 euros, so if you can not do anything and BIOS repair buy new motherboard, Exchange and be happy.

Furthermore, I Portege 2000 and it's really nice laptop.

  • How to remove the Satellite Pro 4600 BIOS password?

A friend of mine recently bought a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 (PS460E-03371-EN). Unfortuately the password of the BIOS was set before the purchase and would like to know how to reset it.
The machine will not start now.
Any help as to the location of the BIOS battery or work around this problem will be appreciated.

    Hello

To remove the BIOS battery will not help. BIOS by removing on laptops is more complicated than on desktop computers. BIOS by removing the procedure depends on the laptop model and it is not the same on all models of laptops.

A lot of people get the laptop with password and to provide an accurate description how do this in the public forum is not good idea.
Have you tried to contact the person who sold this laptop and ask BIOS password?

  • Tecra A3 BIOS information

I need to download the complete information (contained in the BIOS chip) BIOS for my Toshiba Tecra A3 SP611.

I didn't need an upgrade Winphlash, but complete information, to overwrite corrupted on my BIOS chip information.

Can someone advice me where to find it?

    Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, you will not succeed to replace corrupted on my BIOS chip.
The Toshiba driver page offers the victory-latest version of BIOS. The BIOS can be updated under Windows operating system running. You will need to run the exe file. All that s.

But if your BIOS chip is damaged then you should contact the ASP in your country for assistance and information on the handling of the Fryer!
Sorry but there is no other possibility to fix the faulty ROM BIOS chip!

  • ThinkPad S230u wake after sleep of TSRI since BIOS update

I use S230u (processor i7, 8 GB of RAM, 500GB HDD + 24 GB SSD) with Windows 8 x 64 for half a year now and so far everything works perfectly.

I IRST activated and when I put it in mode 'sleep', it automatically records the State of SSD after an hour. That has worked very well so far - I can put it to sleep for short periods and then get up instantly and if I put it to sleep because more it will record in SSD and not use battery - when I wake up, it's flashing red LED for a while and the system comes back online.

However, this Friday, I installed the BIOS - update 1.57.1.57 to 1.61.1.61 update (at least according to the system update history).

Since Friday when I try to wake him up, he does not work if sleep is longer than one hour (or almost) and that the State has been stored in SSD. The Red led continues to blink, but nothing happens - after 1-2 minutes, the system restarts and Windows loads again.

I want to downgrade the BIOS and doublecheck that is the question - maybe it's another patch Windows or Lenovo, so I want to be sure.

I have already located the driver BIOS (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS032000) downloads and wonder if BIOS to check if this is the problem of decommissioning can break anything with my laptop?
