Hi, I have a confusion here, need help.I have multiplexed redo log members on the two DATA, FRA asm diskgroup.
My log_file_name_convert = '+ DATA', '+ DATA '.
and db_recovery_area = '+ FRA.
db_create_online_log_dest_1 = + DAT
Are above the settings right?
log_file_name_convert is simply a string replace function.

Rescue and Recovery backup not file system - without error message
I use, since 1985 the first IBM, Lenovo then. I was very happy, my next Lenovo will be bought next spring.
But I'm just very disappointed. Daily tracks of rescue and recovery on the local disk, which later are copied to a backup drive.
The program has never shown an error on the screen and still run perfectly-, I thought!
A few days ago, I got a Windows error for the first time. There are a lot of missing files.
I restored the system on the R & R and reboted. But cannot start.
With a boot disk, I booted the system and could now see that all the Windows directory was empty!Unfortunately, I can not in R & R files see what files and directories contain a backup? Or can you?

So I would like to know how if someone can enlighten me.
Then I started to investigate on what had happened. In c:-Library SWSHARE I found some files that I see is connected to R & R.
In the engine.log file, I see R & R has written a large number of error lines, of which a part is reproduced below. File dates to 2011 and there are errors all the wayQuestion 2:
Why the program not onscreen when R & R run display errors, so that the user knows there are errors?Now I'm sitting at the bottom with a long nose, after 2 days and nights, trying to find a solution and restored the system several times and do not know how the file system works will come back on my PC so normally again.
Be more happy if someone can tell me how to solve this problem.

How to skip unwanted tablespaces restoration and recovery

I have a full backup (level 0, level 1, archives, controlfile, spfile) for a database. Now, I have to restore and recover the database on another server. I know that some storage spaces that are not necessary. This means, the tablespace are just for the backup of tables etc. and storage spaces are not recovered & restored then also it very well. My main idea is to save time by not restore & recovery of unwanted files. Here is the output of outline report.
I used "RMAN > sql ' alter database datafile offline to drop 4"; "take one data file for users of tablespaces in offline mode. You can make a leap like this:

Temp history, RESTORE DATABASE SKIP TABLESPACE;
You will need to provide the Tablespace names in single quotes.
Your RESTORE command must also include SKIP TABLESPACE tablespacename or SKIP FOREVER TABLESPACE tablespacename to exclude the specific tablespace.

Direct-path (without) Archivelog and recovery

Our database is in a Data Warehouse environment, NOARCHIVELOG. When we do an Insert / * + APPEND * / an attribute table withLOGGING, a miniminal redo log is generated.
We want to move the database in ARCHIVELOG mode and change the attribute of the table in NOLOGGING.
My question is, is body recovery work?
I made a matrix of the effect of a crash all in a way direct insertion operation:

What is the difference between redundancy and recovery for retention window?

I'm still trying to get a grip on this concept of planning RMAN backup.
I recently came across a situation like this.
I have backups on a redundancy of 1.
I have instance1, who had a job of GRID to run backups RMAN as follows
Database incremental level = 0 a week at sea at 02:30
I have backups daily, incremental level = 1 every night
I have backups of the log of the archives through the day.
What happened, was apparently on a TUE some time, the development team remove data in almost all of the tables in the schema.
The this didn't discover until noon or so on Wednesday.
I went to try to restore... and RMAN could not do. I had found a SNA for early TUES, they did... but I got the following error:

What I did... of research, it seems that since I don't have a level 0 incremental of before, he could not reset the database in time. Precedent has been removed since, I guess I had a redundancy of 1.
So, I thought that I had a week of backup they way I put it... but that assumes that the errors are found fairly quickly before the next level = 0 backup.
I want at least 1 to 1.5 weeks of worth of backups. I have the problem that we do have many tapes in rotation, so I can't go because too long..may 2 x weeks at the top.
I'm revising my strategy, but I am confused that I read about the difference between retention RMAN setting with window of recovery / redundancy.
Can someone give me an explanation how do you understand? I read on the web and in books to oracle, and for some reason, it is not clear to me what is the best way to go... especially when I see this window of redundancy and recovery can affect?

CayenneRedundancy = 1 means rman will mark any more old than the backup of the last full or incremental backup of level 0 as obsolete. So it is very likely that the backup that you need for this restore has been removed after work Wednesday morning.
The recovery window will tell rman to keep (or not obsolete brand) all necessary backups to restore to any point in time in the recovery window.

DeepakUnless your online log files are mirrored on a different file system, your database would break and would not be able to start. Loss of logs online requires the restoration and recovery until the last archivelog available (which also seem to have been deleted).
If your database is still running query V$ LOG and V$ LOGFILE to check the status of your online redo log files.
A STATUS of "UNAVAILABLE" in v$ LOGFILE indicates that the file is not available. If mirroring of the log file for each logfile Group (GROUP # in the two v$ LOG and V$ LOGFILE) is available in another file system, your database will continue to function, but you must add the files of missing logs as soon as possible (with ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE).After that you make a backup, you must also run OVERLAP ARCHIVELOG ALL then EXPIRES ARCHIVELOG ALL DELETE to make RMAN bodyguard knew the archivelogs got deleted.
