Longevity of ink CLI-251XL (drying)?

Hi all!  I am new to this forum (as you can see).

Background for my question: I am very new to inkjet printers - all my printers have been and are, lasers except one.  This one is a dedicated disc printer that uses a motor Lexmark and ink cartridges.  Lexmark gave inkjet 2 years ago, and for this reason, and a few others, I just bought a MG7120, which will be mainly used for printing of disks.

I print intermittently - a week or 2 can go with no disc printed, then I need to print a bunch.  The Lexmark cartridges nozzles dry for a week or two and then I have to remove the cartridge and clean the nozzles with alcohol to friction on a tissue paper before printing.  This isn't the end of the world, but it is annoying and also waste of ink.  So my question is: the 7120 can sit for a week or more without printing and do not have the nozzles dry up?

TIA!

Hi tkurkowski,

We recommend that you follow these steps to prevent the ink dry and the printhead Butcher:

1. never unplug the power plug until the power is off.  If you press the button TO turn off the power, the machine caps the printhead (nozzle) automatically to avoid drying out. If you disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet until the POWER led is off, the print head will be capped properly and this will cause drying or obstruction.  When you unplug the power cord, make sure that the POWER of the lamp is not lit.

2. print periodically.  Even if the print head is capped, it can become clogged or dry if the machine has not been used for a long time.  We recommend that you use the machine at least once a month to avoid obstructing the print head and the inks don't dry out.

I hope this helps!

I have 2 printers that use inks 226 and 221.  The cartridges are similar. Are they interchangeable?

    Hi excolprof,

No, the CLI-226 are specific to the models appearing on the box that the cartridges come in as the 221 being specific to its own list of printers.  The reason is that there is a chip on the ink tanks that the printer uses for the determien what the correct ink tank is located in the appropriate housing, so if you use an incorrect ink tank, you will receive an error causing the printer does not work.

Since the Canon Pro-100 is interrupted, the ink for the printer could also be interrupted? Currently, the printer is a bargain, but if there are no ink later on the road, it becomes a huge door stop.

  • OfficeJet J6450: No ink coming out

    Hello

I hope that this printer, which has not been used over the years, still works. The fax jobs. And the scanner works. But when I try to print, not even the slightest blot of ink it will make on the page. The printer will be in the page and looks like going back printing of text, but every time makes none that this either ink comes on the page. The printer says I have low ink black and white, but a full color ink cartridge. (I have taken the cartridges out and put back them in, and every time he reads the same levels of ink.) It seems that there is ink in the cartridges, but, again, no ink, b & w or color, comes out.

My question is: is there a chance that this printer will always print? I don't want to have to pay the heavy load of ink cartridges if it won't. Yet once, this printer has not been used over the years, so perhaps the ink cartridges have dried up or reached their expiry date? If anyone thinks that I still have a chance of getting this impression of thing, let me know. Thank you!

    Hi kilg,.

I think that there is a high liklihood that the printer works again.  You may need to replace the ink cartridges.

There is an ink cartridge, cleaning of the routines you can do as described in this document.

Since the fax and the digitisation of works and the printer moves the page through as if it is printing - it seems that the mechanism is very good.

Used in this printer ink cartridges have ink tank and the printhead built into the cartridge.  So when you replace it - it is brand new.

You want to evaluate the price of the new cartridges compared to a new printer that will come with ink and a warranty.  I can't guarantee that the printer will work - so there is a risk.

I wish you the best to do this work - or the picking of a new printer.

Let me know if I can provide any additional information.

  • OfficeJet 3830: Black ink does not dry printhead upward after a few days,

I had a problem where the black ink cartridge has dried to the level of the holes and would not print. I have it soaked in water / alcohol and got it to work and it printed fine, but 4 days later, it was dried again.

Soaking in water / alcohol it fixed, well, maybe the problem is where the print run the Park. Are there not a sponge, or something?

What can I do to fix?

    Thank you

PS, the color ink prints fine with something of dipping or other necessary. In addition, these are HP ink cartridges. I bought the new printer around February 2016.

    Thank you!

  • Usable difference quantity ink between regular and XL ink cartridges?

I have the Pixma MG5420 printer (in fact, the MG5422, which is the same thing, just labeled for sale by Wal-Mart).  It takes ink CLI-251 (IGP-250 for the pigmented black cartridge).

Canon (or anyone, as in a magazine or computer magazine) makes available any information that would allow to quantify the difference in amount of usable between ordinary ink and cartridges XL?  I just need information on a form (such as how many grams or ounces of usable ink or how many pages of the same content can be printed before the cartridge was empty and printing is broken) that would allow me to make a comparison objective between the various offers on the regular and XL cartridges.

    Thank you.

    Hi Peva,

Go to Canon inkjet page yields. http://www.USA.Canon.com/Cusa/consumer/standard_display/resources-and-learning-consumer/reference_ma...

The ordinary Canon cartridge lists the number of ink and other important information, i.e. the color and maximum performance of page. For most canon printers, it is usually around 150 to 200 pages, depending on the model number.

The Canon XL ink cartridge will be twice the amount of ink and can be cheaper than buying two regular packs. Looking at the packaging of the cartridge you will find that the XL prints generally 300 to 420 pages for most Canon printers.

I bought the XXL ink cartridge. Hard to find in stores, but he found online at amazon.

Good luck in your search, but remember only the use of ink cannon on your printer. My mom once bought a generic ink to save money and ruined his printer.

  • more than 8600: adjust using ink

I just bought and installed an OfficeJet Pro 8600, replace a 8500. On the 8500, in addition to selecting the modes project, normal or better, there were sliders to adjust the amount of ink and the drying time ('less' to 'plus'). In 'normal' mode, the 8600 is put so much ink on the page that the paper is wet and heavy. I can not find a method to reduce the amount of ink in the preferences of 8600. A deleted HP client's ability to change the use of ink?

No, it's the quality only (normal best project), not an amount of adjustment of ink like the 8500. I received an email from HP support... "Sorry, this feature is not available on the 8600." The 8600 will drink the ink, so it's going back to Staples.

Don't forget to select the media Type in your printer preferences when you go to print the envelope, so the printer knows that he has to wait for the thicker paper of your envelope #10.  This allows the printer the well-positioned rollers and ink and the drying time, too.

  • I have a Photosmart Premium all-in-one c310 printer. It will not print black.

I tried changing the cartridge and still no black.  I also get an error message when I try to align the cartridges.

Nothing special, just alignment cartridge error.  Any ideas why my black will not print

It seems that some of the old black ink can be dried in the ports of the printhead from the C310, nyart12020.

There are a few steps to help solve this problem in the document below:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02187415

The document led to replace the printhead from the C310.  That's when we could use check whether the printer is IN or out of warranty.

In case of warranty, then call the HP Technical Support on this printer.

If outside warranty, then you have two options:

    1. You can buy the print head for a printer C310 from the HP parts store by searching for the CN642a part number.
    2. We can try a step not sanctioned HP to attempt to manually clean the printhead across a dipping process.  Information for how to do this can be located underneath:

  • HP 920xl date

Does anyone know if obsolete cartridges HP 920 stop the printer doesn't work (mine is the Officejet 7000)?

    Thank you.

    Hello again,

I'm sorry for the confusion. I had this impression that you had already had the cartridge in the printer and now you had a problem.

If you have a cartridge that is outdated, there is work provided unity ink has not dried up or frozen.  You even get a warning on the printer that allows you to know that it is an outdated cartridge and give you a choice to use it or not.  If it will not then print you will need to replace the cartridge.

I hope it's a better answer than the first I gave you.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

    Thanks again.

  • J6450 won't print

This printer worked fine at first, but then it had sat unused for several months. When we tried to use it again, the page that we tried to copy has been very low. Since I used the "Clean print cartridge" process 3 times. The test page that was printed at the end of each cleaning came out white.  I removed the black ink cartridge to see if the necessary contacts to be cleaned, but they are sparkling clean. The printer is not telling me to replace a cartridge and shows on both cartridges ink levels are fine.

Any ideas on how to get it to print again?

Never mind... I ended up contact HP. It turns out the ink cartridges had dried up, because we had not used it so long. Bad luck! Lesson learned.

  • Black ink not drying

Not drying black ink on my photo prints. When I bought the printer black cartridge failed after 2 prints of A4 paper and I replaced it with a new HP cartridge.

I ran to check the alignment and cleaning programs. I use Fuji glossy photo paper and printer is a 3050 a J611.

    Thank you

Hi Gordon, thanks for your response. I think I've sorted it. I did a few print this morning and confirmed the paper was properly, but I noticed that the printer is configured to print on plain paper and not photo paper.

It was something that I had not checked because my last printer used to set its self based on which ever paper put you.

I have manually set on photo paper and it looks much better.

    Thanks again

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus - how to turn off "drying of the ink?

How to disable the step "ink drying? Whenever I have print something, I have to wait an extra 20 crucial seconds for a step called "ink drying.

    Hello

While using the Auto print module duplex printing on both sides of the product page must let the ink dry before printing on the other side.

You can turn it off by going to the screen printing and setting preferences in print on both sides as zero, which should prevent this behavior of duplex printing.
