Looking for Accessible PDF Creator

(I'm writing this on behalf of my employer. I looked through the terms of service and this sort of detachment does not seem to be discouraged. If this is the case, let me know and I will remove. (Thank you!)

Pacific Educational Press is looking for people with advanced knowledge of Acrobat 9 Pro to help us create an Accessible PDF from a manual of mathematics.

Using Acrobat 9 Pro, the candidate must convert a regular PDF file of a manual of mathematics and convert it into an accessible PDF file that can be used by people with visual disabilities (using the easy PDF text-to-speech software).

The PDF document has many aspects of the design to it and the person must be able to trace the correct read flow for the function of the speech of the Accessible PDF.

The document should include cross references and tags for an alternative text (describe the content of the photographs, formulas and diagrams).

The person would need to have an understanding of secondary school mathematics.

The person will have to begin work immediately and the realization of the project on April 9.

If you are interested, please send a RESUME highlighting relevant experience. You will be asked to create a sample PDF file to show that you have experience using Acrobat 9 Pro.

Equations/formulae - fun.

No matter, you want the right 'tools' (hardware as software).
Specifically, the machines working with stand alone graphics card (at least 250MB - more * is * better).
If you create in Word, consider Netcentric 'LEGS '.
Could be useful to some initial tests of Word to PDF marked through Office 2007 Save as in PDF format.

n. b., CommonLook gets good reviews on its ability to QC the PDF.

  • Looking for a pdf document to find parts of text in shape with a specific font

    I have a document that I have out in pdf format.

    Between the first and the last version of this document, I made some changes, one of those in lieu of one font by another.

    Alas, in the final PDF, under 'document properties', 'tab fonts', I still see the first draft policy (when it should not exist anymore in my paper). This may mean that there is a bit of text I've not successfully updated.

    so I want to identify these pieces of texts that are still formatted using the first draft policy. I know that this must be done in my main application, but for some reason any (good), I prefer to do this search in the output pdf itself.

    So, how could I do this search for Acrobat (I use Acrobat Pro XI)?

    Possible Yes... a bit klunky. Yes, too.

    • Open document properties > fonts dialog and note the PostScript name of the font that you are looking for
    • Prefight opened since the printing Panel
    • Select single checks (symbol of glasses)
    • Select Options > create new preflight check
    • Call it 'find my policy', then in the box to "find" the top right type of page "basic policies". The task will appear in the next window, click Add.
    • Under ' begins with ', enter your PostScript name, and then save the control
    • Back on the dialog box controls upstream the check and click Analyze.
    • Double-click on the start line with a red X and in the document itself, you will see each instance of red font specified by crop marks.

    Hereis the manual for Indesign. I don't have addresses for other practical applications but the other day I tried a one Incopy and I just changed Indesign in the address bar to Incopy and it took me straight to him.  Notice the PDF symbol at the top right of the page to download a PDF of it.

    N ° not for PDF viewing. Most people will consider PDFs by an Adobe Reader or browser Adobe Acrobat plugin or via web browsers that have built in PDF as Google Chrome visualizers.

    What you see on sites like the site web link you posted is a conversion of PDF to another format in a "flip book" provision, a format that does not require the site visitor to install plug-ins. Flip book would be in Flash format for desktop browsers or HTML5 browser for web and mobile devices.

    It's a free PDF to the creator of flip book HTML5. They have even a plugin for Wordpress. But I'm not sure about friendly way of its code would Muse website.

  • How to create an accessible PDF for Thesaurus with many chapters, Acrobat and InDesign CS 5.5

    I was thinking about a thesaurus (controlled vocabulary for the archives of the Agency) in InDesign CS 5.5. I am preparing an accessible PDF from many files (using a book created in InDesign). Coverage, the preliminary pages and back cover are not part of the book, to keep the simple page numbering.

    The book has two main sections, one alphabetical display and a hierarchical display of terms and their relationships. I created chapters by lists of the alphabet, i.e. alphabetical screen A, B, C, etc. So, there are more than 50 chapters, including coverage, preliminary pages, etc.

    I managed to do the cover and the preliminary pages PDFs after viewing the videos here: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/accessibility-adobe/preparing-indesign-files-for-accessibility/ and download and use this Action for recommended Acrobat: InDesign CS5_5 accessibility Touchup.sequ

    Several issues specific to this project do not seem to be addressed in the videos, however.

    • First of all, I would like to know if I can create an accessible PDF using the book feature > export book to PDF. Or should I make a PDF by chapter? The book has over 50 chapters (by alphabet, twice), so creating one by one, will take much longer, but I'll do it if it is the best practice.
    • After creating the PDF files, if I use (in Acrobat): create > combine PDF files to make a complete in PDF (over 600 pages BTW), will be the final PDF settings of accessibility? Do I need to rerun the accessibility to the combined PDF report?
    • I used the InTools.com power Headers plugin to add a page header that appears automatically the first new term used by page. Thus, a chapter (with the title of the chapter title H1) will have a different page header (which will be H2) per page, but the text circulates throughout the chapter. I don't see where to add page headers in the Article window in InDesign. Can I add in the following order: H1, H2, text (for the whole chapter), H2, H2, H2, etc. I need to work on the PDF file in Acrobat, where pages will be displayed, to obtain the correct H2 with the text on the page? Am I missing something?
    • I have problems with the bookmarks that requires a specific workflow?

    I understand why you need updated running headers in your book. For a reader seeing these serve as a guide for where you are and help you find things quickly.  In addition, if you export your data to XML or HTML from the tagged PDF document it would be also important to have these in the right place.

    But for accessibility purposes, should not be there because the screen reader reads everything in linear order, line by line.  No one is looking at the page.  A user to listen to the screen reader read the page will hear this position, just before the word itself. Then they hear the first word of the page two times.  It is not the end of the world if it is there, but these positions are not required for accessibility, unless they are not repetitive and contain information that is not otherwise available.

    So I would say, very well if you need it or want it, it's just a Word.

    I think you should try to export your book in PDF format (or even just one chapter of the book) and look at the Panel tags in Acrobat to see if you get the desired result.  I can't tell you exactly what you need to do to get these results, you use a plug-in, I did not.

    I can tell you that I didn't have to add headers to any article at all, they just automatically export if the other items in the file are added and that you do not select the style of header option 'not for export in XML format.

    You may not experience the same results with your plugin, but I think this would work probably the same way.

    Open any folder on your computer.  Click Tools > Folder Options > File Types

    Find the PDF and click on modify.  Chose the Adobe Reader software.

    Make sure the bottom box is checked. (Always use the selected program to open this type of file)

    Click Ok.   Apply.

    I tried to do this by using the search but it will find only them, if they occur as a long chain, that is to say "Here's the answer" rather than how they occur in the document it is to say "Here 's" a bunch of information that leads you to 'the answer'. The search feature so standard did not help.

    Then I tried to do this by using the tool to delete (obviously not the application of writing!) because it allows me to search for multiple words or phrases, however it is not highlight what page both are found. I tried to turn on the preference to enable deletions of comments and even if it meant that I could then go through all the comments, it's still not faster than my document is more than 1,000 pages, which meant there were too many total comments for me to be able to easily identify which page had both.

    Any ideas?

    There is no built-in way to search for two strings and limited to show only the results that appear on the same page.

    It can be done by using a custom script, however.

    A scanned document is an image; You can't find a picture.

    If the image contains text, recognition of characters (OCR) will convert the 'text' in the image in real text (searchable, editable).

    OCR can be performed automatically when converting a PDF to Word, using the ExportPDF service.

    To run OCR inline in a PDF document, you will need Acrobat.
