• Missing data calendar after MS update

  This morning, I went to check my calendar in the Palm Desktop 6.2.2 and almost everything was missing. Apparently, an update of MS ran all night.

  In my Palm OS Desktop/username/calendar folder, I see a big (1408KO) file called datebook.bak and another called DateBook.mdb.bak (1464 KB) one who would contain my missing data?

  My last Coop diary is dated 10/08/09 and I wouldn't lose all my data from this date.

  Unfortunately, the restoration of data from my Palm TX is not an option.

  I am running Vista as the underlying operating system.

  Any ideas on the recovery of my lost calendar are appreciated.

  The DateBook.mdb.bak file that you found contain your appointments before last successful hotsync. It would be important that hotsync not you your PDA or the bak file would have overwritten with the contents of the Agenda you see in Palm Desktop right now.

  I suggest that you undergo these:

  1. Create a new user name in Palm Desktop.
  2. While in the module calendar in the new user name, click file > import.
  3. Navigate to the location of the bak file.
  4. Type * (asterisk) in the 'filename' box and press ENTER. This should indicate the contents of the directory that the bak file.
  5. Now, double-click the bak said to import it.
  6. If you're lucky, you should see your lost appointments.

  If you're unlucky ignore the following steps:

  1. Now, are you sure that the bak file really contains your lost diary, near Palm Desktop.
  2. Using windows Explorer, navigate to your username folder. Usually, it's \Documents\Palm OS Desktop\ [a derivative of your hotsync username]
  3. Rename the folder "Calendar" to something else.
  4. Open Palm Desktop and be in your correct username and in the calendar module name.
  5. Now you can import the bak file in the folder of the Agenda that had renamed you in step 3.
  6. Now you can hotsync TX, but remember that the conduct of the Agenda is set to DESKTOP REPLACED the HANDHELD computer.

• Lost all appointments on desktop

  Help!  I hope someone has a solution for me.  I was working at my desk, then I went to the section dates on the desktop in an appointment and realized that, ALL!, my appointment went.  I don't know what happened or how I can get back them.  I still have everything on the Palm, but I'm afraid of synchronization in case I lose all those appts., too.  Thank you very much for any help you may be able to give.

  You can recover data from your user folder as long as you only Sync once with the PC when you discovered the missing data. When synchronize you with the PC there are files created for each category of PIM in your user folder. For example; datebook.dat or appointment (according to the version of Palm Desktop) and datebook.bak. 6.2 file names are .mdb and mdb.bak. 6.2, the files are in the folder of user name in PalmOSdesktop in my documents.

  The files are named .dat and .bak. When you synchronize, the current data is stored in. dat. The next time that you synchronize the data in the .dat file is copied to the .bak file. You can rename the .dat to .old. then rename the .bak to dat. If the data in the .bak file is intact, it will now be in palm desktop when you reopen Palm desktop. I have included a link to show you how to find the userfolder on the PC.

  The best way to backup your data is to use the export function in Palm Desktop. Create a new folder on the desktop named Palm Desktop Backup data. Then, select the category that you want to export. You will get a window asking you where you want to save the file, save it in the folder created on the desktop. There is a button that allows you to select the record currently selected, or all, select all. If you do not select all, only the highlighted record is exported. You will need to name the file for export then I suggest the name of the category, for example: calendar (with the current date). Do this for all the essential data in each category. With the data exported to the folder on the desktop of the computer, you can save this data to a flash drive, external hard drive or a CD - RW. With this method, you will have your data in a separate place than Palm desktop and the device. If 'Lose you' data again, you can import the data back into palm desktop.

  Make sure that when you make changes in palm desktop or the device to export data to the folder created for the backup.

• Just updated to 29.0.1 where is my calendar with all my appointments

  My computer did an automatic update to version 29.0.1 in the last two days when I went to check my appointment on the calendar where I kept all my doctor's appointment has disappeared, why the update was told it would remove all my appointments the program usually tell me if something will be incompatible or is removed and with all the updates so far its never deleted the calendar why now. Installation of calendar is essential for me because I'm 66 years old with a brain like a sieve and rely on these nominations can I get the calendar and all my appointments in return please help if you can

  Don't worry this subject, just an another PET brain age of 66 years, the calendar program was in another program not Firefox, I'll just go out and get self thunk I drink his was one of these days, you know the kind of day I should slept in his bed cos it does not just pay to stand the guy.

• HotSync Desktop 4.2 loses some (computer office on two different processors) calendar appointments

  I have my Palm Desktop on my laptop and desktop.  When I sync with my handheld I sometimes appointments of loss.  Why this might be happening?  The calendar on my desk is the main calendar.  But sometimes I do an entry on the handheld and then update the desk calendars.  I lost some important appointments because of this problem.  I would appreciate any input.

  Is - this particular to a single point synchronization? (IE when you synchronize at the office or when synchronize you with the laptop)

• Centro sync is no longer AFTER lost desktop calendar access

  Forgive me if my terminology is not 100% reliable. I have used a palm since 2002 and NEVER have problems. I opened my office today to discover all my appointments lost. Everything was intact.  I have it comes from my last backup (not as recent as it should have been, but not devestatingly then!).  Now I am trying to sync and I'm getting hung up on "5 backups 19," which is apparently the synchronization of appointments according to the hotsync Manager. I have so I ctr + alt + delete to close the Manager and access. I tried have sync the two have hand crush the office and have removed most of the other synchronization programs so just that the Agenda is being synchronized.

  I'm not super computer savvy, but enough to handle what I've done so far! It seems to be an access problem, as everything worked very well and works fine on my phone.  I don't know why all of a sudden everything was gone. I installed 6.2.2 a few months back. Before that, I had no problem and had my centro for about a year and a half at this point.

  I appreciate any help!

  The closest UK bar (Braehead in Glasgow) appointments engineering seem to be always full. Does anyone know what time of the day, the next day appointments open? Apple support me 08:00, but I tried and they were full already!

  Apparently nominations open at midnight for a week in advance. But I found it much easier to simply turn up half an hour before the opening and the queue time. Sorted!

  I've never heard a backup report bugs, however if you are interested in, you can always restore the device as good as new.
