My parents got me a copy of Windows 7 for my birthday a few years ago. It ends up being a counterfeit version. I received a 'Get Genuine online Kit' and sent the product key. I reformatted my laptop and forgot that I didn't have the genuine key, just bad. Is it possible to get the key with the certificate of authenticity? I already reformatted my laptop so I can't get it back that way.

Don't install windows vista no disk but have product key sticker
Interesting problem? I have a laptop Acer Aspire 7720 G, which had Vista Home basic installed on the purchase, without discs provided but sticker windows product code based on the laptop. I just bought and installed windows 7 Home premium which seem to instal fine, but now my graphics card is not recognized (nvidia geforce). all I get is poor graphic vga? I tried to update the drivers from windows update and nvidia, no sucsess. 'Systems' I can't even see my graphics card, it seems I just graphics vga integrated, not good on a computer with blu-ray/dvd player and power dvd installed, nothing will work out of a bad quality dvd movie.
someone said that acer do not support windows 7 for this laptop and recommended re-setup of trash vista, but since I have no disk how can I do this. I don't have the product key code?
do I really have to install windows vista again and have I wasted my money on windows 7 that I can't use because my graphics card is not recognized? really frustrating, ilike, windows 7, want to use it, but how can I if it does not recognize my nvidai card, any help would be appreciated

How to get Vista recovery Media or the Vista recovery Partition on your computer back to factory settings.
There is no Vista free download legal available.
Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.
They will tell you how to do this.
Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.
Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed. There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

Hello
If Vista was preinstalled on your computer, read this information:
There are several methods to reinstall Vista.
There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.
You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.
They should do this for a small fee.
To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:
You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:
How to change the Boot order in BIOS:
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm
"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246
And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.
It may still be there after installation of XP
The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)
Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.
Ask them to the proper key sequence.
Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.
If this happens, you may need to try this instead:
You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.
Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.
And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs
Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:
"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html
And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

XP Home Edition genuine key but need software
I have an old PC which begins to experience what looks like a hard drive failure. Windows XP Home Edition is no longer charge despite trying many options of safe mode and the command prompts. I have a genuine XP Home Edition license key on the side of my case, but I have never had the drives.
I tried to find a download and a phone number to talk to a human being, but it's impossible! Is it possible that I can download Win XP home edition, or request a CD that I can use my key authentic with?
Thank you
Mark
If XP was preinstalled and then to be in compliance with the license of manufacturers, the vendor of the computer SHOULD give you a method of the computer back to factory State, by hidden partition or recovery CD.
See the documentation provided with your computer or contact the seller directly. They should be able to provide at least a CD of recovery (for a small fee of course...)

Windows 7 genuine becomes suddenly not authentic
My PC has been run on Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit for over 3 years with no problems. We ran the monthly Windows Update without any problem.
Suddenly, a message pop - up to inform our copy of Windows is not genuine and asked us to run a file. He then asks us to buy a new copy of Windows. When I go to control panel, System: it clearly states that Windows is already activated with the product key.

Windows 7 product key, but no disc
had to refomat laptop computer after a virus, have lost everything. Reinstalled windows xp recovery disc. There is a 7 product key of windows on the underside of the laptop.
Is it possible to reinstall without buying another copy of Windows 7?
Hi idlavelle,
The product key on the underside belongs to the preinstalled version of Windows 7 and can not be used with a normal installation disc for Windows 7.
In addition if your laptop comes with Windows 7 preinstalled you must create a recovery disc yourself with pre-installed recovery disc creator. All this is mentioned in the user manual, but it seems you didn t he read why? :(
Now it s too late and if you want the original off back of settings box you will need to order a recovery disc here:

I tried to find my Windows product key 7, but it turns out that I lost it. Is there a way to recover it, and are these safe to use on my system tools/methods?
Microsoft recommends that you only buy a new key of product if you lost.
If Windows 7 is installed, you can try to recover the product key.
Here are four utilities, which can display your product keys if they are still there:
Belarc Advisor: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

and RockXP: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4138.html which has additional featuresWindows 7 is pre-installed on my computer, How can I find the product key?
The product key is located on the COA sticker attached to the bottom of your laptop or in the battery compartment. In rare cases it can be found also in the memory compartment. For systems of the Tower, look at the top or the side of the system unit. It looks like the following:
If the certificate of authenticity (COA) label is damaged or letters or not readable, you will need to consider the following options:
- Use a digital camera to capture an image of the COA and enlarge him on your computer.
- If the COA sticker is damaged, you must use the recovery partition to reinstall Windows 7, it will be exempt from the need to use the product key to activate your installation of Windows 7.
- If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and requires only a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling. This will exempt the need to also use the product key.
- If none of the above works or is not available, then its best you buy a new window
