RPC Server - error message: RPC server unavailable
When I try to log on my computer, I get a message saying that the RPC server not available? Usually, I have to make several attempts before I can't connect. Anyone know what this means and how to fix it?
Thank you
Hello
Have you made changes on the computer before this problem?
The RPC server, Remote Procedure Call is a service on your computer that allows other computers to access remotely.
Method 1: There are different scenarios when you get this error message. Please mention if this message is displayed when you perform a specific task on the computer.
You can check the event viewer for detailed information on the problem. Consult the following links.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/open-Event-Viewer
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/what-information-appears-in-event-logs-Event-Viewer
Method 2: The Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Services service must be started and startup type must be set to automatic.
(a) click Start, type services in the start search box and press enter.
(b) in the Services window, find a remote procedure call and do a right click on it to select Properties.
(c) under the general tab, make sure the Startup type is Automatic and the Service status indicates Started.
Method 3: If the methods above help not, perform a restore of the system in safe mode. You can restore the computer to a date when the computer was working properly.
a. click Start, type System Restore in the search box and then in the list click on the system restore program.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
b. in the System Restore dialog box, click choose a different restore pointand then click Next.
c. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

The RPC server is unavailable. How can I fix it?
I have Windows XP SP3 and I try to install a Dell 964 all-in-one printer and every time it almost finished installing it stops and I get a message that says the server RPC is unavailable. How can I fix it? I don't know I asked this question in the right place, but please, someone helped me. Thank you, too, my CD player stopped working. I can fix this? I had to go to Dell and download the installation of the printer, but I also have the CD that came with the printer. And I had to use you same cable to connect the printer to my Dell PC that I used with my HP printer, but it broke and I am trying to replace it. Thanks again.
Cindy
Hi Lucinda,
Thanks for posting your question on the Forums of community of Microsoft.
You did changes to the computer before the show?
Here are some ways you can follow to resolve the problem:
Method 1:
The Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Service service must be started and startup type must be set to automatic.
Steps to follow:
a. Click Start, type services in the start search box and press ENTER.
(b) in the Services window, find a remote and made procedure call a right click on it to select Properties.
c. under the general tab, make sure the startup type is automatic and the Service status is started.Method 2:
Disable security programs antivirus or other software installed on the computer and check.
Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.Method 3:
Check out the link and follow the steps:
Solve printer problems
For the problem with the CD drive, see the link:

'Server Unavailable RPC' when you try to repair the connection on Windows XP.
Original title: "RPC server unavailable" win xpI have an internet connection works fine, but trying to fix the wired (Ethernet) it returns error "windows can not finish repairing... the following action could not be completed: renewal of your IP address."Then I went to cmd, then typed "ipconfig/release" to the manual release and renew and it returned the error "the RPC server is unavailable."What is going on?Answer your questions:1. Why are you trying to repair the connection, if you have already connected to the internet?
2 are you facing problems of internet connection?-That is a good question. I know you want to know why I tried to repair the connection. Well, I just noticed that the web pages were unresponsive for a little while and I was surprised that I got these errors when it worked fine.-I had left my computer without having to reboot for two days, then I did my job, started cold PC and that fixed my 'problem '. Actually, I just tried to fix the connection a few minutes ago and he managed, so I went in cmd and ipconfig enough played & / renew and everything worked fine.-Sorry to bother you, I guess I was just curious as to why these error messages have been coming. Thanks for your response! -

WMIC command fails for the domain user
Hi all
I use windows 7 and testing commands wmic as below
WMIC/node: "Computer1" / User: "domain\username" / Password: "password" PROCESS CALL Create "calc.exe"
Most of the time control fails with RPC server unavailable to users in the domain (default of 75%). Working sometimes and mostly failing to time.
Error code
0x800706BA-online the RPC server is unavailable.
If I use the local user, she is successful, command below still works (100% success)
WMIC/node: "Computer1" / User: 'Nom_ordinateur\Nom_utilisateur' / Password: 'password' PROCESS CALL Create "calc.exe"
I have two computers running windows 7, the firewall is disabled
Executing command from computer2 as below
WMIC/node: "Computer1" / User: "domain\username" / Password: "password" PROCESS CALL Create "calc.exe"
1 computer settings
- Adds the domain under group administrator user
- Configure dcom through DCOMCNFG.exe and got all rights to domain user
(DCOM remote launch and activation permissions for a user, the remote DCOM access permissions)
- Rights granted to wmi namespace (root, cimv2) of domain user using wmimgmt.msc (all rights to the namespace namespace and sub)
- Firewall settins according to the - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa822854%28v=vs.85%29.aspx
Note: The firewall is disabled
- UAC disabled
- Check rpcss and associated to the computer and all services are running
What could be the reason of failure for the domain user (work awhile and is Server Unavailable RPC over time). Tried to restart that wmic user system and field control did not exist, after awhile like 30-45 minutes user field the wmic commands work and default again. How to solve this problem (such as checking the logs)?
Thank you

Error "the RPC server is unavailable."
I have a Windows XP Home SP3 PC who, since yesterday has been report error "the RPC server is unavailable" in attempting to perform specific tasks such as remove programs via the control panel and of the files of backup using Acronis 10. 'Paste' files which have been 'copying' ed by right click of the mouse or drag-and - drop, and finally, Internet Explorer 8 does not load authorize also Windows Explorer is no longer. I suspect that all these problems, which began at the same time, are connected!
I did a virus check full system using AVG 8.5 and booted in safe mode "...". from last known working configuration"but nothing works.
Any thoughts?
I'll make sure that your Remote Procedure Call (RPC) server is running. Right-click on my computer-> Manage and go to the services section. You start and stop the services from here. You can also right-click and select Properties... and see the service dependencies.

When I try to renew my IP address I get the error: the rpc server is unavailable.
I'm not getting Ip Add. in my laptop. When I try to renew the ip with IPCONFIG/renew it gives error the rpc server is unavailable. If I try to start this service in services.msc, that she does not get any changes.
Thank you & best regards
Aniket
I would like to check the status of the Services.
Click on the Start button and select Control Panel, administrative tools, Services. Locate the RPC end point Mapper in the list and make sure that the startup type is automatic. If it is not set to automatic, right-click and select Properties, general tab. There is a box after the startup type. The options are available in a menu drop-down by clicking on the down arrow to the right of the box. Make the change and click apply and then click OK. Restart the computer and verify if it has started.
Hope this helps, Gerry Cornell
