  • Follow the Luma Key mat vs Alpha

I was hitting my head on the wall of Google for hours now with no real answer (but a very real headache): what exactly is the difference between Alpha Matte and Matte Luma in the mast first elements Track key?

The best I can find something like "The Alpha matte uses the alpha channel for the matte", is that (and more to resemble each response peer review I ever wrote) doesn't really help because, uh, what the! $@ # is an alpha channel? Even the "Photoshop for Dummies" lost me.

All that I know is that when I create a white circle using the titration to PRE module, it seems the same behavior (rightly) if I have Alpha or Luma chosen.

When I create a white circle on a black background in PSE, it behaves (rightly) if I choose Luma, but if I choose Alpha matte is treated as if it was 100% black or white to 100%, although this is clearly a white circle on a black background.

    So, what gives?

    • Is it because the titration module has transparent backgrounds, while my PES has a black background?

    • Or is my image PSE missing this mysterious Alpha channel, and if so how to add?

    • Are associated with transparency and alpha channel?

    • Or is the simplest rule just to create a black and white image in PSE and choose luminance?

[Hunt: I'll understand such things matte, if it kills us!] ]

    It's simpler than that, Ed.

Luma founded the matte on colors, i.e., white sets the matte (transparent through your clip) and black opacity.

Alpha based on transparency matte matte image. In other words, if you have a white circle, the white circle sets the matte and the area around the white circle (which is transparent, unless you color) sets the opacity.

  • Keys on a white background and track 3d movement

It is actually two questions, so if I need to split it into 2 posts, I can do.

First of all, I have my talents on a white background (because of the green in costume) and I want to put a background behind them is a picture of a track or a stage (see the second screen capture). Initially, I did this by going into AE and make two copies of the item. I then used the HUE/SATURATION effect to the top of the page copy b & w, and then the LEVELS to make high-contrast. Then I put it as a cache of luminance (reversed) on the background copy. It worked pretty well, at least better than Ultra key or Luma Key, which left a bit of white on the edges of the subjects. Still, you can see a white border around the topics today, although he the one smaller than with the coding of effects. Does anyone know a better way to remove the white background, so there is no white edges around subjects?

Second, you can see that the microphone has a green cover. I need to put our logo instead of the green in the football game perspective and rotation. I thought to follow up with an effect of pin corner of movement, but because of the rotation, I don't know if it will work. That talent is the mic autour, the Green Exchange box tilt and rotation, as well as position. What do you recommend that I use to match my logo (seen in the second screenshot) the microphone?

The first thing I would do with this project is to convert 32-bit if you have more control over the colors. To create the matte luma that I would start by converting the image in black and white, as you did, but I would go a lot easier on the contrast control. I would probably use curves instead of levels. I would have also used adjustments red green and blue when you turn the copy of black and white images to darken the skin as much as possible.

To achieve a fully black matte I can duplicate the black-and-white images contrast and the value of the copy to multiply. I would do this several times until most of the gray was gone. Then I would have added layers of black shape to fix everything that was causing problems. All layers of black and white and fill the forms would compound before and the demo would be used for a cache by approach. See the HC demo with 10 copies of the layer of black and white.

I would then use this HC demo to create a cache of luminance on the original film. I blurs the original film about 8 pixels with fast blur then I would have some edges to work with the final model. See Matt model of track.

The last step would be to put the matte model of track on the top images in a main model and add a little more blurry fast if necessary and curves and Simple Choker. I watch the Alpha channel of the model, the solo track matte layer, and then set the Alpha channel of the curves to clean any opening in the matte. I may return the RGB model control panel and set the layer of matte as a cache for the images alpha and adjust around simple neck and blur accelerated to even out the edges.

I hope this helps. Here is a screenshot of a computer creating the matte the way that I would.

The last step would be to follow the bug of mic using mocha and corners allows you to add your logo.

If this had been my project and there is no blue screen I would have fired on the screen of the project green and changed the composition for the guy with the green face. Then I'd use technical color change to make the green face again after the kay were made. I would also use a mic (cube) bug which was a good amount of details in it. It is easier to get a good track when there are a few details in the shot that is when the surface is flat and ordinary.

I hope this helps. Pulling a luma key when shooting actors on white background is much more difficult to inlay.

  • How to make a morphing/disintegration effect?

    Hello

    Complete newbie to Motion here...

I'm filming tomorrow a customer for a hologram on a black background, and they want to turn into a 'happy birthday' in 3D after their speech in post.

A bit like how this morphs of singer in a coca cola bottle here at 01:40, with the bottle in text. https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=IHV-F_R0BMg

What is the best way to achieve this?

    Thanks in advance

    https://UK.Pinterest.com/PIN/create/extension/

Do you still use Yosemite? If so, what version of Motion do you have? Happy birthday 3-d is going to be much easier in motion 5.2 +.

    In the meantime, the basics:

Luma Key background (you will need a cache of transparency around your subject.)

Create a transmitter - 3D - objects swirling effect (you will need for Z-align your subject inside the "spiral")

Fade out target - bland in 3D happy birthday text (and animate position final [I guess])

1,2,3 - easy [but if you need assistance with the "details" - and you if you are as you say: a "complete newbie -" we can keep this thread going...]

  • FCP 5.1 rough on the old Mac

Hi there and thanks for reading!

I have an old one, and I mean, mac

    OS x version 10.5.8

    2 GHz power pc G5

    1 GB DDR sdRam

Final Cut Pro 5.1 [Yes, I know it's old, but I needed to match what they had at the public access station]

Lately my Final Cut has agitated fonctionnee.  It doesn't matter if I restart.  To this end, I dropped a bunch of things on the hard drive, so it might work better.  Now, I have 65 GB available and used a 168 on hard drive.  Always the same problem, with no improvement whatsoever.

I also get the 'Spinning Wheel of Death' almost any time, I try to do anything about the program.  Render times are incredibly long and do chromakey or luma key with other special effects is almost impossible because of the slow times.  Also the same program will not play certain things, but just towers [the spinning wheel of death], and then jumps ahead--possibly after a minute or two.

Until recently, it was a great machine and I was able to do many things with it, including editing of a feature film.

If you have thoughts or ideas for me, would be great!

While 1 GB RAM meets the minimum requirement, I am sure that more RAM would be useful.

    Hey,.

There is a gap in the main sequence. It is visible with activation video once again, but disappears quickly after that. I think the problem is luma key in the subsequence or new update. A project which was started a year ago. Can someone help me with this please?

  • The use of masks in CC PP 2015

I've been through Lynda tutorials and searched the Discussions, and it's not like I have tons of time to sort all of this.

I have trouble understanding why the masks do not work like they should. And, as a new selector FCP7 and it starts to annoy me (as it is something I would have done in FCP two days ago).

I have a composite simple... an "explosion of Star' I am luma keying on a background scene. I repo-ed it down a little, and I want to put an oval soft-edge mask on the explosion to soften the edges.

Sounds simple, right? Click on the oval mask tool, stretch the mask and soften the edges as you want and voila! This works.

Only it doesn't. And besides, it does not differently, depending on whether I play in the clip or parked on a chassis.

So what am I missing here?

Try to apply the opacity mask, rather.

  • How can I add drop shadow to the digitized text handwritten?

I wrote by hand and scanned a text, open in Photoshop CS6 and reversed tones to create white letters on a black background.  I made this file in Avid Media Composer and it superimposed on an image using a luma key to key on black.  Now, I want to add a small drop shadow to the text to make it more readable when it is bunk.  How can I do this in Photoshop before importing the file in Media Composer?  I realize I have to use an alpha channel, rather than a luma key, in this case, but I have no idea how to do to create the PS file with shadows on the letters.  I think I can learn the procedure to make a layer alpha from online sources.  I would be grateful for any guidance.

Without having seen the digitized text I am not sure that the following technique is appropriate. That said, consider this approach, assuming that the scanned manuscript text is on white paper:

    1. open the file. The text is the background layer

2 stir its background lock in the trash

3 hold down the command key and click the new layer at the bottom of the layers panel. He will place a white layer under the text layer.

    4. the background layer is layer 0.  Select layer 0.

5 double-click the layer color 0 in the layers panel to get the layer Style menu area

6 down below is the "Mix" box if are two gray scales. Move the slider to the right of the grey scale top of the page toward the left and the White Book of your scanned text layer will become transparent. Click OK.

7 Cmd + E to combine the layer

    8. at this point, you can place a layer below your text layer. Edition > fill with white.

9, return the text layer and - once more the use of the layer-Layer Style - apply the drop shadow. (Clicking the shadow option will provide additional controls.)

  • Remove a background color

I imagine a different overlay text on a black background, I want just text on a.  I am trying to ultra-cles the black out, but it does not work.  Is there a way I can get rid of the dark and instead having transparency where you will see only the white text?

  • How to import cs3 projects in Prime CC?

I have several first cs3 projects using the Matrox system that I want to import into first CC.  Howeer the CC will not accept avi files that were used in the cs3 software.  Do I need a special codec to matrox avi files?  Where can I get that?  Adobe has obviously that I use in the cs3 version?

    Hello

Please download and install the codecs VFW Matrox from here: http://www.matrox.com/video/en/support/windows/vfw_software_codecs/downloads/softwares/ver sion2.0 /

Please note that while the CS3 project should open and the retouching and effects Adobe will be intact, the extraordinary Matrox GPU effects (from RT X 2) NOT present.

If you need to connect to a Matrox MXO2 device, then you can keep the following of older RT X 2 projects when they are imported into the new CS6 or CC - projects

    * Matrox Color Correction (primary and secondary)
    * Matrox to overlay (Chroma and Luma Key)
    * Matrox wipes Transitions

  • Can I turn on video greenscreen in video with a transparent background (instead of default black arr.plans

Can I turn on video greenscreen in video with a transparent overlay on another video in another program background.  probably export to avi.     I know that I can't in sequels but uncomfortable with the first.   I basically want to turn the greenscreen of a black Windows to cs6 body transparent background

[email address removed by the host of the forum]

Prejudice is correct. It would be better to modify in the program where you hidden green. However, if you really must...

DPX is one file per image. Although you are not able to open it from Windows, it is only because Windwos was told not to open them in Photoshop.

The point of the whole of the DPX file is to have a storage visually without loss of your executives that is designed to be used between applications (just what you want to do): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Picture_Exchange

However, if you prefer to use another option you are most comfortable with, you can use the PNG.

    Or...

If you insist on a single video, use the codec for Quicktime Animation.

In all cases, you need to an image format or a video CODEC that can store an Alpha channel.

    Or...

Export the video with black and use a Luma key in the next request.

    Or...

Export the video with black and then export a video of just the alpha channel as a picture blabk and white where black is transparent when it is used as cache by approach, and then in the next application use video of the alpha channel as a cache by approach.

Since you have not said what is the other application or why you want to use it, we have a little trouble with a specific solution.

  • Basics of the alpha channel of Canon 7 d video

Maybe I'm missing something basic here, as I am fairly new to play with alpha in VIDEO layers/channels. Otherwise, I have a pretty good understanding of the alpha when it comes to photos, animations, etc.ffects

I'm doing the black in a video of a few flames in an alpha channel, so I can use them in the form of particles in After Effects.

    (like in this video http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorial/green_smoke/ ( )

I understand the restrictions codec/format for alpha channels, but the problem is that I can't get the black to come out at all as an alpha channel.

I have tried Quicktime with no codec and FLV and other formats that are supposed to support alpha channels.

According to me, what is the problem is format that shoots in the Canon does not have an alpha channel in native mode to export the video in different formats is not having an effect. If this is the case, how should we do the dark parts of a video in an alpha channel.

I know there are ways to make green in a channel alpha (filtering). I can't for the life of me figure out how to get scars OR Prime Minister to acknowledge the black straight as an alpha channel however.

I watched a few 30 tutorials trying to understand this point, but it seems that I am unable to ask the right question to get the answer I want.

    videoalphas.jpg

    There are the export parameters.

Perhaps someone can point out my gross missunderstanding of what I'm trying to make, or otherwise put me on the right track.

Here's a clip of in aftereffects, the arrow shows that the clip has properties alpha... I think, but when I turn off the alpha channel EVERYTHING disappears.
I have to d something in the aftermath?  I don't know, I'm lost.

    videoalphas.jpg

If anyone thinks they can help I'm willing to do a youtube video showing what I do.

PP will never recognize black as an alpha channel.  You have to eliminate the black using the Luma key.  As long as it has nothing else underneath, which retired black will be encoded as an alpha transparency.

  • Lightning effect moves when I save

Hello, I can't find it in the forums so I have to ask. I don't care a little video for my nephews, and I promised them that I would give them lightsabers. I learned to create a lightsaber effect using the effect of lightning and reduce branching, etc. etc. Well, it works. While I'm editting the video, I use the lightning to cover their swords and they very nice swords. However, every time I record video, 25 720 and 720 30, the effect is always off the mark by about 3 inches. The sword is in the hands of the boy, but the lightning is on the same horizontal plane, but vertically, it is a few inches off. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there something I can do? It is frustrating cause I spent a lot of time editing this effect in one frame at a time on two swords. I wouldn't know it was all for nothing. Thank you.

I'm not average, but I wasn't getting any help. I was forced to restore all changes the effect of lightning on the swords. However, I tested the heck out of the rendering and effects until I am committed to go further along. What I discovered is that if you record videos in mpeg 720:30 format, and then add all your effects and save the newly edited video as the 720:30 even drop the rest of lightning on the sword. It's the only thing that's worked for me.

I don't know if it's the right answer, but I tried garbage matte, luma key, adding a solid green background and tracing the lightning effect and then try video merge the effect of old images ontop. Nothing else than to redo all saved to a file mpeg worked 720:30.

  • Effect color like rockets

    Hello

I saw a video by using a sort of flares, I think of the rockets optical videocopilot pack... but fail to make an impact. No matter what I do, the light is not as bright as that of the video. I tried to use the luma key and stuff like that, but failed.  The video is http://vimeo.com/35379380

and the scenes that I talk to are initially 0:13, 0:18 and at 01:00. What I am doing wrong?

The effect used in this example is just burn filmed, superimposed on images in screen or Add mode.

Burns film are a few pieces of film that were partially exposed to the light, create areas of overexposure or "burn".  There are many libraries of stock footage that sell Burns filmed.  He has even a few free ones around, as this clip on YouTube:

  • Eventually the element.

    Hello. I was wondering how

you would overlay a clip on the Premiere CS4. Not sure if I use the right term. If you look at the screenshot below, I want the black image under.

    overlay.jpg

In final cut pro, you could right-click the shot overlay and select and it would automatically. In the first CS3, I would use the chroma (I think). In the Premiere CS4, I would use the "Luma Key". So it will essentially all blacks disappear and show the video under. What is the right way to do it? I jut feel that sometimes, I feel that I don't get the right result, that I'm looking.

If the fixed asset on the video track above has an Alpha channel, which can be used to do what you want.

If it is not the case, you can use Track Matte Keyfing basically make the black area transparent.

In CS4, you also have the Blend Modes on your video track, which could be the best way to address the issue, depending on the exact assets on the higher video track.

    Good luck
