MAC address

Is someone can you please inform me where to find the MAC address on the device HP photosmart B209a. It is supposed to be a wireless printer. I have a wireless router Netgear with MAC filtering & need to enter the MAC address of the printer. I posted on the other equipment that is on the label on the product or the box, but there is nothing of the sort on the printer, just serial No.. Please can someone help before I take that back... Its my 1st product HP & so far I am impressed.

Thank you very much a novice to HP

If you print a Network Configuration Page, it will show the MAC address on the subject. Select screen Configuration, go to Network\Wireless settings > view network Settings\Print Page of Network Configuration. Another place is to look for a white mark at the back of the printer. This should usually list the MAC address as well as your serial number.

PS: Mac filtering isn't really a good way to secure your network. It is not worth to configure Mac filtering for all devices on your network. Just make sure that your wireless network has WPA - PSK encryption with a really strong WPA key, and this should make your network more secure.

  • where can I find the mac address for Airport Extreme

just bought a new Airport Extreme 802.11ac and I don't know here to find the MAC ADDRESS. Can someone tell me where to look. I have the model and serial number, but can not find the MAC ADDRESS.

Is the AirPort Extreme, set up and operation right now... even if he could not have an Internet connection?

If Yes... Open the AirPort on your Mac utility... (Finder > Applications > utilities > AirPort Utility)

Hold down the option key on your Mac when you double-click on the image of the AirPort Extreme

The next page will display a summary of the parameters

The AirPort Extreme has done 3 different MAC addresses... Ethernet, WiFi 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi.   If your AirPort Extreme is connected to a modem by an Ethernet cable, then the Ethernet ID is the MAC address.

If the AirPort Extreme has not set up yet at all...

Open AirPort Utility as above, and then click the file menu in the upper left corner of the screen next to the Apple icon

    Click on configure the other

    For address, enter 10.0.1.1

A password is normally not necessary, but if you are prompted for a password, use the word

    public

Click OK, the settings summary page is displayed.  In most cases, given that the AirPort Extreme connects to a modem via an Ethernet connection, you want to use the Ethernet ID as the MAC address.

  • no no pick host server el capitan. List [MAC Address]:unkown.home

We have 21 iMacs running on the server (El Capitan, recently updated) and alone is binding. The solution is usually quite simple for users and groups in SysPref. Remove the server host and binding, find the available server in the option drop-down menu, but for some unknown reason, the server is listed as unkown-00-00-12-34-56-78.home , that I found is the MAC address of the server. I ran this in a terminal:

    sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist

    and

    sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist

back to link the server in SysPref and correct server name option appears briefly and then changed back to "unkown-00-00-12-34-56-78.home" right before my eyes!

You see "unkown-00-00-12-34-56-78.home" anywhere on the server?

Is the correct server name a bonjour name? That is to say theServer.com? or is it a FQDN name? theServer.YourDomain.com?

What is the name of the performed client hello?

  • The printer receives do not all data. It is caused by the MAC address filtering.

How can I solve this problem.

The printer attempted to join the network but does not receive any data.  This may be caused by the MAC address filtering. If MAC address filtering is enabled and you want to keep enabled, add the MAC address of your printer in the list of devices allowed for your wireless access point or router before continuing.

  • Satellite L750D - MAC address change by itself

    Satellite L750D/L755D 18mths old.
Restarted this morning after the weekend and cable NIC MAC address has chnaged.

Started in windows and could see a different value to Friday (as we control access through MAC address and was blocked).
Started in normal Linux (Ubuntu 12.04) and a different MAC address again.

NIC seems to work fine with whatever he chooses - but how MAC address can be change by itself?

    > NIC seems to work fine with whatever he chooses - but how MAC address can be change by itself?

The physical MAC address is not editable, but there are a few ways to spoof the mac address
For example, using Windows XP, the MAC address can be changed in the properties of the Ethernet adapter. On the Advanced tab, under "MAC address", "Locally administered address", "Ethernet address" or "network address". The name of this option depends on the Lan driver that is installed on your laptop. And important note; not all drivers are supported changing the MAC address of this way.

In addition the system registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} contains some parameters of the network interface and the option called NetworkAddress will serve to set the MAC address.

There are also tools that could spoof the address MAC for example, SMAC MAC Address Changer.
Finally and above all some routers provide an option to change the MAC address.

  • Skype adds the mac address book contacts, these people will be notified?

OK, so I downloaded Skype, very well.
Skype automatically adds everyone in my mac address book (which I haven't checked over the years, is full of people I don't like and don't talk to!)
My question is, because Skype has added these contacts in my address book, these people will be notified somehow?

(Find it me * very * irritating I was not asked or encouraged that my address book stupid personal from my computer to add to Skype) n):

They won't be notified somehow. All Skype does is to read your address book and, if you do not want it to do this, go to Skype\Preferences\General and a tick 'view the contacts address book '.

A little research in the preferences helps a lot! ;-)

    Hello

Have you checked the TCP/IP protocol settings?
    Do this!

    The settings are located in:
    Network connections-> network connection WLan-> properties-> Protocol TCP/IP-> properties

There you have to make sure that settings such as; obtain an IP address automatically, get the DNS should automatically be marked!

PS: The router must has disabled the mac address filtering!

  • Laptops stolen - draw MAC addresses

We had a number of thefts of laptop the past few months and would be able to follow some of these flights, if only we had the MAC addresses! When the new laptops are stolen just after delivery there is no record any of their wireless or the MAC addresses of the NETWORK card that could be used to locate their use on our network and the networks of other Institutions there. It seems that Toshiba does not keep a record of the serial number and MAC address.

A plea for Toshiba: when will you begin keeping a record of MAC addresses against the serial numbers?

Although we appreciate that software is available to change the addresses MAC is not valid to save addresses for every laptop on the issue?
At least we would take a chance to follow the mobile phone in use... ???

    Hello

It seems that it s not known to you, that this is a user forum and you will find only Toshiba users of cell phones here in the forum. If nobody from Toshiba here.

Anyway did you check the lower part of one of the units of Toshiba?

I found on my books different labels below with different numbers.
There is a label with the serial number, model number and you will of course find the two labels with LAN MAC address and the WLan Mac address.
I think that it s no problem so that everyone can note these numbers and addresses

You know Toshiba support home page?
    Check this box:

You will find a database with stolen devices. There, you can save your laptop stolen.

    With regard to the Mac address of follow-up;
Of course, it is possible discover the Mac address, but how do you want to find the laptop with this Mac address? You want to follow the entire www?
For me, that doesn't really sound realistic

  • How can I print a list of MAC addresses in the Airport utility?

    Hi-

In our House, security Wi - Fi is obtained by listing the MAC addresses of machines allowed in our airports.  Make a list of these addresses used to be as simple as make a screenshot of the table in the Airport utility.

Now, with MacOS 10.11.3 and Airport 6.3.6, the table in the network utility > Timed Access Control... > Wireless Clients no longer mentions the MAC addresses.  You can view them one at a time, but you cannot display them all at once.

Is there a way - possibly with Terminal commands, or perhaps AppleScript - to display the names of the guests from the airport and MAC addresses in a kind of list?

    -Gil

Apple has closed all utility of its utility... so now, it's the bare minimum and nothing more.

You can buy tools of third-party network, inet, fing for your iOS devices and find all attached devices.

Or you can buy a router to another provider and keep the most convenient airport for WAP than this OK functions.

You can also export the configuration file... search in a text editor and remove MAC addresses... but there is nothing that even comes close to what decent average routers made nowadays.

  • Satellite C850D-104 - change of MAC address

On the new laptop of C850D-104, I have a problem with the mac address.

Well well, in short: it changes.

My firewall filter (also) on the mac address so I need to add the mac address of the new machine.
Which seemed to work fine until I restarted the laptop warm. No possible connection.

And looking on the firewall, I see indeed a different mac address attempts to connect.
To be sure, I restarted again, and yet once again, I get a new address (another).

Restart IE cold. stop and restart seem to reset the address this is a first.
And after a warm reboot, the new address.

Now bypass is simple, do a cold reboot, but it is still annoying.
On the internet I found some versions of back problems with the netword card driver, but my current license is some versions above that should have solved the problem.

    Hello.

  • MAC address and P1102W

This is my first post here.  I just bought a new P1102w printer.  I put it up to use USB.  Now I want to use wireless, but I use a MAC filter through my router.  I think I found the MAC address of the printer.  He was under the hardware address and 12 characters.  I entered in my router.  Now how I swtch USB wireless?  I tried to read the manual but couldn't find it.  I did unplug the USB cable and press the wireless button, but nothing happened.  I tried to print a page but nothing printed.   Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you

First of all, MAC filtering is not an effective security measure, and it makes your difficult to manage network.  Read more about it here.

Start by unplugging the USB cable between the printer and the PC.  If you use Windows: start > all programs > Hewlett-Packard > [your printer model] > add a device.  When he asks, choose a network device and follow the instructions.

If this does not work, download the latest version of the software for your printer from the "Support & drivers" link at the top of this page.
