  I think that there is a way to get rid of it within windows.  Because I have a few vignettes that appear and others who are icons, even in the same folder.  (Unfortunately, I can't recreate how I discovered the solution).  Curiously, this isn't a problem for Macs.

  Probably the best Windows solution is to simply use Adobe Bridge to view the photos.

  In the first screenshot you posted, I see you have the image with an open white background. Apply the shadow which adds the sense of depth with does not work because there is no space around the image to see the shadow (you apply the shadow to an entire image that occupies the entire visible space).  If you want to see the shadow on this image then go to Image > canvas size and enlarge the canvas (to add transparent areas in the image do not expand with background layer, convert to normal layer) then apply the shadow to see in reality. In essence, you need room or transparent areas in the object to which you apply the shadow to see the shadow.
