Mac Pro 5.1 mid 2012 closing

My 40 odd years of owning Macs, which dates back to the classic Mac with a screen 13-inch black and white, I have never seen this. All started about 2 weeks ago, when I got home from work and my Mac had stopped. I thought it could have been an electricity failure, so I just rebooted. No problem. But then it started to happen more frequently. A few times it will turn off then I was in the middle of something, like getting emails or surf the web. Jumping to come up to our days... now, when I have the power to get the bong, the Apple gray and gray progress bar, but it stops almost exactly when the progress bar comes in half way through! Last night he did about 10 times in a row. Today, same thing. In addition, when you turn on using the modifier keys, as the PRAM reset or start in safe mode, or hold CMD and D to launch a test of hardware, it stops before the same progress bar appears on the screen. Here's what I did then tried farhati starting from different hard drives, including an external... tried the boot in another Bay... deleted disk cards RAM and only used a 16 GB to start... exchanged slots of RAM... disconnected all devices, including my monitor, keyboard, and mouse... even removed the video card ATI Radeon completely from the machine... removed the optical drive... removed the processor tray to clean and inspect. Cleaned all fans and assured they were working. And that's all. One thing I noticed... sometimes red located next to each RAM slot is lit on both of them. They are each on the two slots that are closest to the processor. In these slots, I have a 2 GB card each. If I take them off, the LED turn off, but it does not help the problem. BTW, I have two 16 GB of RAM cards in the two front slots. I think my card is bad. I'm puzzled!

spontaneous, uncontrolled stop is most often caused by overheating, which can be aggravated by the accumulation of dust bunnies.

It stops almost exactly when the progress bar comes in half way through!

start up your Mac, the dark Apple is loaded with the first "blob" of software by a known location on the disk. Later, when the file system is initialized, the boot drive is mounted as a Volume of macOS. If it cannot be mounted, a repair disk function is started. The progress bar lingers on the screen while the process continues.

At the end of the repair, there are two possibilities:

(a) the startup disk can be mounted. Start continues.

(b) the startup disk cannot be mounted. Since there is no way to make further progress, you Mac stops.

Your solution: repair the boot drive. If this is not possible, to obtain a replacement disk and installs a new MacOS top. That gets you a job entirely Mac so that you can recover, restore or repair you need.

Your Mac can boot from a drive, internal or external. The best way forward is to ADD a replacement disk, so that when Mac OS is installed, you can work with the old drive as well.

About a week and a half, it started running very slowly with the spinning beach balls popping up all the time.  This reminds me of how when I have too many tabs of the browser as in the past, but now, even with browsers had closed, open Word or Skype is really slow.  (I'm sorry for any confusing formulation; I'm not very computer customer connected, unfortunately!)

Some of the things I've tried so far and EtreCheck below):

    -safe mode

-detection of hardware problems (control + D)

    -reset the PRAM

-using the utility disc for repair/first care; also check

-wipe the hard drive and reinstalling original OS X Lion (was still slow with beach balls; I tried to install OS X El Capitan to see if that would help, but installation could not finish)

-wipe the hard drive and restarting from a backup previous (one month before the problems started)

Thank you in advance for your answers - I'm just at a loss for what could be the real problem!

You Mbps HARD drive is suspect.  Start the recovery (COMMAND-R) partition and select in menu 4 disk utility.  Run disk utility > first aid > repair.

Unrelated, but your battery has seen a lot of use.  I suggest to replace.

    Ciao.

    Hi James,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple! I'm sorry to hear that you are having these problems with your MacBook Pro. I'm a bit ambiguous on the screen exactly who you see when you log in, but according to your description it looks that your computer may be involuntarily go to sleep. If this is the case, you can find the troubleshooting steps in the following article useful:

If your Mac does not sleep or wake up when expected - Apple supports

As mentioned in this article, another possibility on laptops like the MacBook Pro is that the screen closed sensor may be triggered unintentionally. There is a small magnetic sensor in portable computers and sometimes, being close to things like briefcases magnetic closure or magnetic jewelry can cause him to think that the display was closed, which then puts the machine in a locked sleep state. If possible, you can test the issue on an office open without any potential source of interference.

    Hello morganscott2001,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

If I understand your post you have a Belkin Adapter Mini DisplayPort to HDMI is not working through any of your Mac.  Given that this is happening with several devices, then it is safe to say that there is probably a problem with the cable itself.  You can see similar cables we offer in the Apple Online Store in the link below:

  • Very slow Macbook Pro 13 inch Mid 2012

Hello world! I'm not savvy at all, so my apologies if something is not clear in my message below.

    Data sheet:

    MacBook Pro 13 inch (mid-2012)

    OS X Yosemite: Version 10.10.5

Processor: Intel Core i5 2.5 GHz

    Memory: 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Storage: 139.3/499.25 GB in use; 359,95 GB free

For the last two weeks, my Macbook Pro 13 inch (mid-2012) has been extremely slow. The colorful beachball (aka the wheel of death) often shows up, even when I'm just trying to type something, such as now (I'll have to type really slowly, so it can track). This slowness came very suddenly.

I tried resetting SMC/NVRAM, repair disk permissions, then by restarting in safe mode, but the problem persists (I also tried to upgrade to El Capitan, but was met with a loop of reboot delicious and recovered my time machine backup again to the recovery mode). I think I can also try to reindex spotlight, but I may or may not succeed.

I was not able to create a Time Machine backup successfully for the last month, because it gets stuck on "preparing for backup...". "(not sure if this could be related). I also wanted to point out that Dropbox is one of my startup items, but I got it for centuries, and it has never been my Macbook it ridiculously slow. Before this slowness, I would leave it and my Macbook would be back up to speed. I also tried to remove the list of startup items and slowness persists even after rebooting.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is particularly bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.

These must be run as administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.

Run the Console application in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

The title of the Console window should be all Messages. If it isn't, select

SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ all Messages

in the list of logs on the left. If you don't see this list, select

List of newspapers seen ▹ display

in the menu at the top of the screen bar.

Each message in the journal begins with the date and time when it was entered. Highlight date back to the time you noted above.

Select the messages entered since then until the end of the episode, or until they begin to repeat, whichever comes first.

Copy messages to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command + V.

The journal contains a large amount of information, almost all this is useless to solve any particular problem. When you post a journal excerpt, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Please don't dump blindly thousands of lines in the journal in this discussion.

Please do not post screenshots of log messages - text poster.

Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

When you post the journal excerpt, an error message may appear on the web page: "you include content in your post that is not allowed", or "the message contains invalid characters." It's a bug in the forum software. Thanks for posting the text on Pastebin, then post here a link to the page you created.

If you have an account on Pastebin, please do not select private in exposure menu to paste on the page, because no one else that you will be able to see it.

  • Current recommendations to replace my aging STARTUP DISK in my Mac Pro 4-core (mid-2006) 2.66 GHz?

    Hello old friends!

Common sense, to the age of my current BOOT DRIVE (320GB) and the recent difficulties of start-up tell me I should replace the DISK to BOOT in my Mac Pro 4 - core (mid-2006) 2.66 GHz ASAP - in fact, immediately

I do NOT need more capacity.  Currently I have a 320 with 225 available GB boot drive.  However, I do understand that there may be nothing in this range of low capacity available out there more.  I was buy new disks for the other three bays, and they are 1 and 2 TB of disk.

Should I buy a big for my boot drive?  Should I consider a SSD?  I want to less than $100 or more.

Living in a fog of permanent brain due to the M.E., encephalomyelitis myalgic for years and not confident in my ability to pick a player of the moment, alas.

Advice on make and model, the same source, will be more appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  • MacBook pro 13 inch mid-2012 with the help of el capitan

is there anyone with a macbook pro 13 inch mid 2012 that the use of el capitan?

I want to improve my macbook to mavericks in el capitan, but my friend told me not to do. Because she just update its macbook (same model with mine) and it becomes slower than before (yosemite).

Is there anyone with the same problem? Or maybe another problem after upgrade to el capitan?

It works perfectly with EC is that you have enough memory. I say that at least 8 GB is necessary. 4 GB is very marginal.

  • Update of the Macbook Pro 13 inch mid 2012

    Hello...

I im experiencing some major performance issues on my Mac Book Pro 13 mid 2012 thumb and would really like to move to 16 GB of memory Ram and an SSD.

That someone has or has had experience with the mise a niveau of this model... or the upgrade in general and running on some issues.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

    Best

Assuming that it is a model identifier 9.2, it will accept the 16 GB of RAM and an SSD will improve its overall performance.  The best sources for RAM compatible Macs are OWC and Crucial.  Based on reputation and personal experience, OWC and Crucial get my nod for SSDS as well.

You will need to decide if the higher cost for one SSD worth it. compared to a classic HARD disk if the bank account is fat, do.  I have.

    Ciao.

  • Mail crashes when you delete an email, sparking a boot, running El Capitan on a MacBook Pro 13 inch, mid-2012.

Mail, Version 9.2 (3112), crashes when you delete an email, sparking a boot on a MacBook Pro running E Capitan, 13-inch, mid-2012, is 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, memory is 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 and trash is clear. It's frustrating! I was unable to copy a part of the final report to include and cannot find where are stored copies of the reported errors. Thank you!

Start Safe Mode removes the system caches that can help.

Upper left corner of your screen, click on the Apple  > Shut Down.

After your Mac stops, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.

As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key. You must press the SHIFT key as soon as possible once you hear the startup tone, but not before.

Release the SHIFT key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.

Once you are in Mode without failure, return to the menu Apple . In the drop-down list, click: reboot

Then try to delete an e-mail message.

    On Safe Mode
