Mac Pro mid-2009 upgade of El Capitan

I have a Mac Pro mid-2009 that I updated to El Capitan.  Can I enter my ID and password. After that if freezes on the Apple screen and will not bring the user interface.

I assume that you have installed El Capitan on your existing operating system. The captain is not good to reconcile the differences, which is probably why you can't fill a start-up. If you're lucky, the recovery partition is intact. Hold down command + R to start and select the recovery partition. You can try using disk utility on the drive containing El Capitan. It probably won't help, but it won't hurt. If this does not help, and you have a full backup of your previous system (or, at least, all your data), you can erase the disc and try again. Once the new El Capitan is happy, you can use Migration Wizard to move your files and applications on the disk with the new OS El Capitan.

I have almost identical to your own equipment. I got the best results by moving my data and applications manually. I had Snow Leopard to El Capitan, but it was too big a stretch of the Migration Wizard, especially since I had permissions custom on many folders and files.

  • Can I install an ssd and its system of MacBook Pro mid-2010 on a Mac Pro mid 2009

    Hello

My MacBook Pro just died yesterday (logic board) and I want to install the SSD with the system on a Mac Pro.

I just ordered a case to install the ssd drive in the machine.

I wonder if I can boot directly from this SSD or if I do the previous setting in the system.

Given that the Mac is able to run the latest version of Mac OS X, and you want to move the SSD for older Mac rather than new, it should work. I guess that saying you 'ordered a case to install the ssd drive in the machine' you mean connecting via USB rather than internally, which would be a great test.

If it works, I would say running the combo for OS update comes on the SSD once it is installed in the older Mac.

  • Bootcamp only gives me the option to install the secondary internal SSD flash disk. Mac Pro mid-2010

I have a Mac Pro (mid 2010) and spin El Capitan (10.11.5). I have an SSD that I boot OSX of. I have a 4 TB harddrive that store data on. And I just installed a Virgin SSD (same type as my drive OSX) I want to install Windows 8 on. When you run Bootcamp, it only gives me the option to install Windows on my hard drive of 4 TB. He's going right to the start screen of the screen asking me how large, I would like to partition. No SSD is given as an option. The new SSD is shown in disk utility and in the Finder. I tried to format it in FAT, ExFAT, and OS X Extended, but it is not yet appear in bootcamp. I also tried to boot from the installation DVD, but nothing seemed to happen. What should I do?

If the SSD (s) is not connected directly to the MacPro SATA connectors, you will have problems. Of your SSD are supported on a SATA connection?

  • I want to exchange a larger HDD (Mac Pro early 2009) and at the same time improve Cougar to El Capitan.

I want to exchange a larger HDD (Mac Pro early 2009) and at the same time improve Cougar to El Capitan. What is the best way to do it?

I think the best would be a new installation of El Capitan on the new HD and reinstall the applications on the new HD, and then migrate the data and setting for the previous version of OSX. In this way the least unused stuff enters the new OSX version

  • MacBook Pro mid-2009 vs MacBook late 2009 - macOS Sierra

    Hi all

Can anyone please explain to me, why we can't install macOS Sierra on MacBook Pro mid-2009 models and can install it on the MacBook models end 2009? I checked the specifications of these two laptops and they are quite similar, where MBP is faster/more stronger and it's really not any sense that we cannot move to the Sierra.

    -Processor is the same/more fast (both are 45mm Penryn - http://ark.intel.com/compare/40380, 42014)

    -Same/more fast GPU

    -Memory even more

What material might be different? A tiny chip (part of) the motherboard?

Am I missing something or Apple made a mistake?

    Kind regards

The previous model lacks some materials needed for execution of Sierra, which was included in the successor model.

I can't insert a floppy in the drive of my Macbook Pro mid-2009! It's a s if there is a disc already inside - something is it prevents insertion of entirely.

I've tried several "cures" I found on the net - one of them worked for a short period but now the problem is back.

The guys at the genius bar in an Apple store have seen this problem so often, they got some field tools rush this opening and get in and out drives. If who disobeys, they can take in the back and open it to fold the skin of the player, fitness and clear of the issue.

You an appointment for an assessment is free, guaranteed, or rear. In general, if they can solve this problem in less than a quarter hour without spending coins, there is no charge.

  • the amount of memory can increase book mac pro mid 2012

    Hello Sir,

I want to thank the size of the RAM of my book of mac pro mid 2012. May I know what is the maximum RAM, it supports?

    Thank you.

It may depend on whether it is the version of the retina.   As there are several options in terms of opinion, you may want to type "what is the maximum RAM for a Macbook Pro mid 2012' and read."    Officially, it seems that Apple says that 8 GB.

You can also go to OWC (Macsales) which are recommended in these columns and discuss your question one by one.

Hello! The battery is old and has almost reached 1000 charge cycles, which means that it may soon become useless.

I have seen many users asking link to OWC here on the forum and I have seen a lot of positive feedback on this manufacturer, so if you plan to replace the battery, you should consider the OWC part in option.

  • Mac Pro early 2009-7950 HIS Itceq Turbo / 3GB

    Hello

I bought a GPU 7950 HIS Itceq Turbo / 3GB GDDR5. I tried with the Mac Pro early 2009 (10.9.5) and a 4K monitor, but it does not work perfectly.

The DVI output is good, but the max resolution only 1080 p. If I use with cable MiniDisplay, and view the right side monitor scratches and horizontal 5 seconds noise appears on 60 Hz. The monitor works fine on 30 Hz. I tried SwitchResx app for the best refresh rate, best rate exceeded the 55 Hz, but the horizonte noise not.

The other problem, the boot music played twice each time, so pluged the DVI. If the MiniDisplay cable was plugged music start playing around and he played with white screen. The only way to start if you connect the cable

The seller never try it with a 4K monitor, so I do not know is the card works well.

The 4 K is Acer BX320HK. It works very well with the MacBook Pro late 2013 (10.10.5) with Nvidia GeForce GT 750 M 2048 MB same MiniDisplay-Display cable.

Is there someone who uses this card with MacPro and 4 k monitor?

    Thank you!

The specifications of the card say:

    2560 x 1600 per display (DVI Dual-link)

    You use a dual-link cable?

I can't find the manual so I don't know what input DVI resolution lets you get.

What version of OSSX on the MacBook Pro? If more Mavericks try upgrade to the same version of OSX, you can do a test on another HDD for testing with installation.
