• Need help to free up space for MacAir

  I use a MacAir provided by my boss, it once belonged to another employee, but the employee resigned and just handed the Mac without deleting his account. I'm the designated for this Mac. I found a way to remove the old account of employees. Everything has disappeared. Only my name is remaining under users. However, when I search all the files in the MAC always displays the previous employees of the files that are really huge files and I need to remove them, however, there is no delete/compress/move to trash option and they cannot be moved to the trash.   I'm more familiar with older versions of the OS, but it was when you closed an account that it bundled up all the user files in an image of large file archive in a directory of deleted users.

• How to convert .smi .dmg in El Capitan

  I downloaded the system 7 in the .smi (System 7.0.1.smi) format image file and I found no way to mount it or convert it to dmg.

  Disk utility doesn't support .smi conversion to the current version. Are there other ways of "extract"? Thank you in advance.

  When I try to download a .dmg on a Web site, instead of the file goes to my download folder - I get a new tab, open it with a bunch of code/characters. This does not happen with Safari, Chrome or Internet Explorer.

  I have a Macbook Pro 2012 model and all my programs are up to date. But this week, seem all my DMG files don't load to give an invalid argument error. I thought it was because the downloads were incomplete, but it wasn't the case, as the other applications I had already downloaded earlier this year did not work also. All these problems started when all of a sudden I was locked on Spotify and had to reinstall it but cannot get it load. So I can only use spotify now on my iPhone.

• WD Pass Ultra does not connect to MacAIR

  I have a MacAir 2012, running the latest software including El Capitan... last night, I have connected my WD My Passport Ultra to the laptop computer and left overnight to back up via Time Machine. In the morning, when I opened the computer not only had the back towards the top do not run, but the drive has ceased to appear in the Finder.

  I restarted laptop, Finder, reset the PRAM and SMC, and tried to open utility disk - which does not start upward and only do so if I disconnect the external hard drive.   Can someone help me please? Disk utility does not start if the drive plugged in, so I can't unmount/mount... Held the WD driver manager and who is stuck at 90% so I try to leave it overnight to see if that solved the problem.

  Would appreciate any comments.

  I always recommend any new drive formatting, to ensure that all proprietary software are removed, e.g. Manager of drivers WD

  After you start DiskUtility then plug in your WD drive, you can try to force mount

  DiskUtility > file > install

  If you have a separate hard disk or an unused partition of drive of sufficient size, make a clone bootable from the computer as it is. CarbonCopyCloner to use and you can make a clone of your entire system bootable. This clone can be used to boot from, and once booted from it, you can reverse-clone the back of the system.

  Basically, you have to reinstall OSX Recovery Mode.

  Simply choose reinstall and you won't lose anything. You should have a back right up.

  Have a Macbook Pro (early 2013) with OX X 10.11.5.   When I installed the update installation has frozen but after reading the suggestions I restarted in Safe Mode, and after that it ran disk utility, I could restart and find that the update was installed completely.    Everything seemed to work OK, therefore, concluded that disk utility had corrected the errors.
