MacBook Pro 2012 sporadically slowdown since the upgrade: SSD ALL SSAY!

Hello

I recently updated from a Samsung 850 Evo 256 GB SSD to the 1 TB version. Everything worked perfectly on El Capitan before the upgrade.

Since then, my Macbook (15-inch, mid-2012, 9.1) is very reliable. It has constantly been extremely hot, that fans speed up at bottom, unless they are overridden by third-party applications (fan SSD command), and even simple things like streaming video may cause the thing to grind to a halt. The battery life is also significantly more bad for exchanging the two SSDS.

1. almost directly after installation of the SSD using my Time Machine (from the 256 GB SSD), underside of the Macbook backup was extremely hot to the touch and the fans were at full blast all the time. I have reset the SMC and downloaded SSD fan control to override the fans. This seemed to help for a few days, but then...

2. on the accusation, it slows to a halt, which makes the Macbook unusable. I can't understand why, because it is not as if a particular application is the cause on several occasions. I noticed that kernel_task consuming CPU during one of these "slowdowns", so I tried the fix involving passing the model identifier of IOPluginPlatformFamily.kext after you turn off the csrutil of the recovery partition. But my model identifier was not yet which are listed there, there is nothing to move.

3. the SSD seems to work very well. Repeated with BlackMagic Disk Speed Test assessment tests show reading and writing almost 500 MB/s.

3. I ran the Apple hardware test and he told me that he had "no problems found".

4. I have checked inside the case for excessive dust and has no problem.

I scoured the internet to find answers and tried every possible solution I found, everything to nothing does not. Any help would be greatly appreciated - I am considering looking for a new laptop if I can't understand what is the problem, as I can't work

I partitioned the SSD drive immediately after the Time Machine backup - this could be the problem?

Thank you very much for reading this and for all the advice!

Tom

A number of users have had problems with the new Samsung SSD.  Note that Samsung omits Mac compatibility on their web site.  Whether or not this SSD is the problem is unknown at this time.  You might consider to replace it with the prior SSD and see if there is a change.

First of all, I suggest that reset you the SMC and NVRAM:

Try a safe boot:

If no change, remember to reinstall os x.

Application of fan control do you use?  The reason why I ask, is that all of these applications I know, allow to increase the speed of the fan, does not decrease the speed.  To do this involves an element of risk because the conditions may require the speed high ventilation and by the user, reducing can result in thermal shutdown.

Ciao.

  • MacBook Pro 2010 does not recognize the (formatted) SSD

    Hello

I saw a lot of topics on it and did some background reading. But in short, a 13 "middle MBP 2010 is simply show folder-question mark icon when starting after having inserted a 850 EVO Samsung newly formatted (option + cmd + r to try to start internet recovery mode and do a clean install of holding).

I tried to solve problems using other my Macbook Pro (a model 15 mid-2010 ")-Exchange the SSD back between the two machines, and I get different behavior which is what is so confusing.

The steps I have taken to date include:

-Insert the (unformatted) SSD in 13 "MBP. Hold down cmd + option + r download icon question mark.

-Insert the (unformatted) SSD in MBP 15 ". Hold down cmd + option + r. get starts in the recovery of the internet where I could format the drive!

-Replace the (newly formatted) SSD in 13 ". Hold down cmd + option + r. Yet once the icon question mark.

To make sure that I was not screw up internals I put the old hard drive back in 13 "and he started very well. It's a relief at least.

So I'm at this stage. Someone please correct me if my reasoning is wrong...

-He's not the SSD because my model 15 "it recognizes and plays well.

-It has No internal features of the computer, because it always starts on the old HD when I reinserted it.

-He could be the SATA cable. (I tried to change place than my 15 "model, but the orientation is different and I didn't take the risk of rupture of the cable).

    -It could be a PEBKAC

In the meantime I'll install a clean version on the operating system on the new drive while it is in the MBP 15 "work. Then, I'll try once more. But I don't hold any hope as the 13 "MBP doesn't recognize the SSD when would be the model 15".

This is the model 13 '

    Thisis the model 15 "

Any help at all is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You probably replace the SATA cable in the MBP 13 ".  This phenomenon has been reported several times on these forums.  An SSD will start the MBP externally but not internally, and the original HARD drive will start the MBP even internally.  A new SATA cable solved the problem.

I do not offer a 100% guarantee, but I suspect that the chances are good.

  • Since the update to El capitan OSX 10.11.4 on my Macbook Pro (2012) I can not connect to the app store - ideas?

Since the update to El capitan OSX 10.11.4 on my Macbook Pro (2012) I can not connect to the app store - ideas? Im not geek so please be gentle!

Try restarting mode without failure. To restart in safe mode, restart the computer and press on and hold down the SHIFT key until the Apple icon appears. The computer starts more slowly than usual because the disk utility checks the drive. After getting on the desktop launch the App store and try to connect. Successful or not, once you're done, restart normally to exit safe mode.

  • My SSD is not appear in the menu on the boot disk (macbook pro 2012)

Hello world.  So I just got the macbook pro 2012 and starts to do-it-yourself work last night.  I took out the optical drive, transferred the existing location HARD disk (w / caddy) and installed an SSD in its place.  Then I cloned the SSD HARD drive.  No problems so far.

When I went to change the boot drive startup disk preferences is where I ran into a problem.  My original HARD drive is the only projection.  I had the problem in choosing the boot drive during the reboot (the SSD will appear in this menu) and makes it the default value it.  SSD works very well and is now my main boot drive.  However, I still would like to show in startup disk preferences.  Is it possible to do (preferably without erasing the SSD)?

    Thank you!

Relevant info - I'm running El Capitan and I used SuperDuper! to clone the HARD disk.

OK, can I have found the problem.  Map of partition of the SSD has been MBR, no GUID.  I deleted it, reformatted and I am re-cloning it now.  I'll post the result (I hope that as a confirmed for another solution which meets with this).

Since the upgrade to first Pro CC 2015.1 version 9.1.0 (174) version all my media is on hold. How can I fix it?

I've been using the last verisions and upgrades were OK. I recently allowed my computer upgraded to Windows 10, all right. Organization worked OK, until the update of the week last in the latest version. the first project that I opened was to be converted (normal), but all media is pending, including in the media browser.

    No media has been moved.

    How can I fix?

If I've been using this for a life I would be quite upset now.

Imagine if I were to dig trenches Friday with my shovel Catapillar and cat updated engine on Saturday and Monday I find that it will not dig more... :-(

It seems that I fixed it myself, but I do not know what part was fixing.

I found the menu to clean the cache, Edit > preferences > Media, Media Cache database and click on clean up. Who did nothing immediately, so I stop the program and restarted.

During the restart of all media is now here.

Why have I not to do... Grrrrr.

  • MacBook Pro 2012 does not SSD

    Hello

So a few months ago, I upgraded my MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid-2012, OS X 10.10.5) with a SSD Samsung 850 Evo. Things were much faster and the other Corsair CMSA16GX3M2A1600C11 Apple Mac 16 GB (2x8GB) was also nice.

One day, the Macbook has no more SSD, start repair of OS X and reinstalling did not help. If at start up the Mac, then applications suddenly crash randomly.

Strangely, exchanging for 500 GB disk drive factory solves all problems.

In addition, I can boot OS X from the SSD via USB3, but internally it does not work.

I tried different SSD from Apple, Sandisk and Samsung, which were to be properly formatted or have OS X installed, but the Macbook simply does not accept them and either shows a blank screen or screen issue/question mark. With a support boot utility disk sometimes recognize them and sometimes not. The internal SATA cable has also been replaced by about 5 different cables, but that has not solved the problem. Replace the RAM, unplug the various components such as Superdrive or Trackpad as well.

I can use the Macbook Pro normally but being prevented from using a SSD internal is a serious drawback. My next plan is to try the drive Caddy + SSD boot drive solution but somehow I fear that it could also do not work.

Wouldn't be a kind of failure of the Logicboard? I'm certainly not an expert, but don't really see any other reasons.

    Thanks in advance!

any SATA enabled the logic board on a MacBook Pro after that 2007 should accept an SSD (I guess that ANY Board with SATA connectors actually are eligible for one SSD)

You may have damaged something with the Commission or if you are using any 3rd party with the DSS software is might be incompatible.

  • Since the upgrade to El Capitan, I can't add printers!

Since the upgrade to El Capitan, I can't add all the printers on my Mac. I have a MacBook Pro. I deleted my printer list and restarted my computer. I have reset my system print and restarted my computer. Whenever I have to add the correct IP address to my tab "add a printer", I get the same notification:

If I type 'continue', the rest in the queue and automatically default print job is "suspended." Everyone at the office (PC and Mac users) do not have all the adding problems or printing to the same printer with the same IP address.

This was never a problem until I had updated the operating system of El Capitan. Help, please!

N ° you shouldn't lose all information on the hard drive.

Make sure that the Mac is saved completely before trying to upgrade the RAM.

  • Which hard drive MacBook Pro 2012

    Hello

I have Non - Retana MacBook Pro 2012, it has its default 500 GB hard drive, it is too small and too slow.

I have found that I can put a 2 TB in current housing and a second in the SuperDrive slot should I want to.

But my Question, above all, the it restrictions on the brand that I can use?

If I wanted a SSD I know not all readers of work with her because of the TRIM settings, but I still don't know what to do if I went to SSD.

Could I ask for some advice please on this please.

I have £100 to spend so I was counting on a HARD drive not SSD for the more size.

Any HDD SATA with a 2.5 form factor "will be compatible with your MBP.  Here are some examples:
