MacBook Pro 300 missing + GB of space

I have a fairly new 13 "MacBook Pro running the latest version of El Capitan. It has a 1 TB SSD, and today, I suddenly got a warning that the disk is full. I watched as she quickly fell to less than 1 GB. I rebooted, run disk utility and has been able to do up to 35 GB again, but when I use Omni drive Sweeper or Daisy disk missing more than 300 GB of space.

963,2 total disk space

Apps 66

What became of the other 300 GB?

Clues, solutions?

Yes you can, however by doing so, you will cancel the guarantee of the Ant or Applecare that you might have:

  • I use Firefox. My MacBook Pro is quite low on space. I have been informed that Chrome is a 'light' browser, why my Mac can run faster with real Chrome?

I'm trying unload applications that I didn't need and moving video/pix files to other locations of storage

Note that Firefox has also a few hundred MB for two locations of the Firefox profile folder (disk cache and the main folder and other data as to the function of safe and thumbnail navigation).

You can choose to replace the automatic cache and defined management as the lower maximum rate.

  • MacBook Pro says hard disk is almost full, startup disk is full. What should I do to make room?

My Macbook Pro says that my disk space is low. Another notice came that my Start Up disk was almost full. I don't know if they are the same thing, but I want to know how to make room. Also, how can I get rid of the useless things I let build up because I didn't know any better. Thank you.

Hi Taylorlaura, if you can use your Mac then move your own files of data on another drive, until you do about 50 GB of space.

OS x: what is 'other' space about this Mac? -Apple Support

Then download and run Omni DiskSweeper. It can show you the exact size and location of all your files. It will be the inventory of your disc from files that occupy more space. It can also give you a fairer read disk space than the Finder or storage tab of the about this Mac. If you want you can even delete files from OmniDisk Sweeper. But beware, some items may be important for your system.

  • Why is my macbook pro took so much space

Hello! I'm new to macbook pro, and now I started to realize that my mac has used a lot of space in just three days.

As you can see, Photos reached 1 GB and films reached 2.41 GB.

Although I have only two photos now in my Mac, 300 KB and 2 MB (I had imported the Photos App). I also, have one film, 900MB in size and also imported to iMovie for the project.

Then why my mac did take space(1GB) so for two (or four, including the imported) photos? In addition, my films are expected to only reach 1.8 - 2.0 GB only but I'm losing 400 MB here.

What can I do? and can someone explain this topic completely? is this normal?

Sorry because I'm really newb to this.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

Just to let you know, OS X only requires about 9 GB of free storage space. That does not take into account photos, music, documents, notes, etc.

  • How can I get more disk space on MacBook Pro

I have a MacBook Pro OS version 10.10.5 Yosemite.

I tried to delete the photos and videos, I got the pictures. I deleted and then went them recently deleted and emptied the Recycle Bin. I still did not recover space.

When I opened the mac and storage. It shows 189.6 in others and 138,88 Go in the backups. 47,78 GB in movies. 21.98 in photos. 10.29 in audio and 8.64 in apps. Only 82,08 GB free

When I checked the Photos I have 16,48 GB in photos and videos. And iPhoto 1.21 GB in photos.

In the downloads I have 15.68 GB between photo, documents and videos.

In Itunes, I have 49,33 GB

  • Storage space of MacBook Pro not released when using iCloud

Have a Macbook Pro with 320 GB of storage. I buy space storage iCloud and transferred all my photos in the hope that would free up space. Yes, I had clicked the button "optimize Mac storage." But he only release a couple of gb. Other messages, I figured that if you try to import something of a decent size for the Macbook, then that "would require" more photos in the iCloud so I tried this with no luck - I just get the message that there is not enough space on my hard drive.

So what does the button "optimize"? He did virtually nothing to free up space on my hard drive.

Or can someone tell me how I can get more of the original size photos in the cloud.

    Mike

The library of iCloud being synchronous (on your Mac) it occupies space in both places, less if you have chosen to 'optimize storage '.

  • Storage space on MacBook Pro (mid-2012) is not reduced

I recently deleted files from a mid 2012 MacBook Pro but the space where I deleted the files not reduced in spite of emptying the trash.

    Any help?

What is the source that you want to determine how much space you use on your HARD drive?  If it is the view of the ABOUT THIS MAC, it is not to be trusted.  There is a bug in the program.

Download the Internet OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective (both free) and open them. They will show all your files and respective sizes. This should allow you to determine which files to remove or disable charge it to an external HARD drive.

Don't forget to empty the trash. Then only the space is allocated for the new data.

  • Is 128GB hard drive for macbook pro enough space?

I intend to buy a new macbook pro retina, I have a MBP (2011) older currently.  I am concerned about the space on the new MBP.  I want based on what I've read, I have to buy the 256 GB version, but as someone who is not downloading music, (flow), I also run movies/tv, the only thing I really keep it on my computer there's picture. At the moment, my main storage for my pictures is my phone, I've used so far about 11 GB just for that.  Other that that, I could see myself downloading maybe a show of film/tv and from iTunes, but I look at those on my apple TV or simply download on my phone so I can take it to the gym, and I delete them after I'm done watching.  I'm mainly looking to buy a new MBP for school, my only current became a bit slow and clunky, and I think it's time for an upgrade. Don't you think that the space will be a problem for me?

    Thank you!!!

    Hi Spencermatt1989

If you choose to buy the 128 GB version, you can still use an external hard drive or SD card for your photos and other data to save space on the internal drive. I use a card of 128GB SD I leave my iTunes store and photo library.

  • How to import pictures to my library of Photos on Macbook Pro if I moved the library to an external drive to save space?

Recently, I copied my library of Photos (Yosemite version 10.10.5) on an external drive, so I can then delete it to free up disk space. I've read some older articles (a few years), because I can't find the newest, who speak of creation and management of affairs to a new library, but it does not appear to match the drop-down menus, I work with that.  I myself as much as to rename the Library copy, I still have on my Macbook Pro, but don't know what to do to go from there, since I seem to be outdated instructions.  I have not removed the library still existing on my Mac because I fear that I won't be able to undo everything I do.  Can someone enlighten me please?  Thanks in advance for your help.

Pictures always open and use the last use library - hold down the option key while launching Photos and choose the library on the EHD (note the EHD must be formatted Mac OS extended (journaled), be connected via a fast wired connection and should not be used as a backup volume Time Machine)-a complete test it and then you can remove the library on the internal disk (test once more before emptying the Recycle Bin)

  • Loss of space Windows on Macbook Pro... Help, please... Thank you

    Dear community of VMWare,

I have a little problem and I would be happy if you could give some advice.

    1. I have a Mackbook Pro HD 232 GB and 8 GB of RAM.

    2. with the help of VMWare, I installed Windows 7 and allocated 90 GB HD and 3.5 GB of RAM.

3 OS X Disk utility confirms 90 GB of my Macbook Pro HD has been used.

4 VMWare settings also confirms that Windows has been affected 90 GB of disk space.

5 mac and Windows work fine.

Problem - Windows drive C (the only drive in my windows) has only 40 GB. I would be happy if you could help me understand where the 50 GB went.

    Thanks in advance.

    RE2015

On guest Windows VM, open Manager (diskmgmt.msc) disks and check if you create a partition by using all the 90 GB drive, otherwise, right-click the partition and select 'Extend', then the partition uses all unallocated space.
