macbook pro 5.4 Mid 2009 problems

I'm trying to keep this thing as long as possible, but I have discouraged.  It is overheating, screen extends from nowhere, over and over again, trackpad isn't well moving the mouse.  I had some extra ram installed, but who did not help, but it is running a little faster.  I had a peek inside, it is not dusty and the fan is not dirty.  trackpad clicks on to the bottom, so I guess that the battery is not swollen, even if it probably needs to be replaced at this point.  I run a virus scan - OS X malcol found tonight - don't know what problem this is.  I have upgraded the OS to el capitan.  I bought a mouse for him and it seems to work very well, but I don't know if has nothing to my MBP.  screen grows with or without connected mouse.  view enlargement and shrinkage of himself I'm typing this!  CrazyTown!  any ideas what might be happening here?

I don't know why iPad, iOS 8.1 is out there.  I'm typing this from my Macbook Pro sick.

  • MacBook Pro 15 inch Mid 2009 running slow

My MacBookPro began to run more slowly. It was a bit lazy before I upgraded to El Capitan (10.11.14), but it seems that it becomes gradually slower.

The most affected elements: start-up, open programs and work on the Internet. (In regards to the Internet, I have restarted my modem, checked my speed of suppliers, cleared my cache, etc. I'm waiting for my provider to help me know if there are problems with my service, but it seems that my Internet is being heard more slow as well. I work from home on a website online. Internet delays are causing me considerable problems with my work!)

By different channels support Apple, I ran EtreCheck and provided the report below. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Confusing one, it says that my 8 GB of RAM is expandable. But I don't know why. I have 8 GB of RAM upgraded last year.

Thank you in advanced for your entry.

    Hello again Tricia_S,

I see no problem at all in your report to EtreCheck. The 'extensible' indicator simply means that your machine can be extensible. Most recent Macs have no more extensible RAM. These types of downturns are a common complaint. You have an older machine, and they do not work El Capitan, but also a new machine. You can replace your hard drive with an SSD. But other than that machine seems to be running like he's going to run.

Although Oglethorpe should respond to that (there is the resident 17 '' curmudgeon), it came with 10.5.7 Leopard if purchased when it first came out. In 2010, it came with Snow Leopard 10.6.0, until April when the next model supplanted it. However, it may take 10.11 El Capitan had Snow Leopard (who debuted in the App Store, through which you get installer of distributed on the internet of El Capitan OS).

  • MacBook Pro (3-inches, mid-2012) suddenly started running very slowly; Beach balls very common

About a week and a half, it started running very slowly with the spinning beach balls popping up all the time.  This reminds me of how when I have too many tabs of the browser as in the past, but now, even with browsers had closed, open Word or Skype is really slow.  (I'm sorry for any confusing formulation; I'm not very computer customer connected, unfortunately!)

Some of the things I've tried so far and EtreCheck below):

    -safe mode

-detection of hardware problems (control + D)

    -reset the PRAM

-using the utility disc for repair/first care; also check

-wipe the hard drive and reinstalling original OS X Lion (was still slow with beach balls; I tried to install OS X El Capitan to see if that would help, but installation could not finish)

-wipe the hard drive and restarting from a backup previous (one month before the problems started)

Thank you in advance for your answers - I'm just at a loss for what could be the real problem!

You Mbps HARD drive is suspect.  Start the recovery (COMMAND-R) partition and select in menu 4 disk utility.  Run disk utility > first aid > repair.

Unrelated, but your battery has seen a lot of use.  I suggest to replace.

    Ciao.

  • Well my MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid 2012) needs assistance.

My Belkin mini display port HDMI adapter I think has a problem because I plugged on several macs different including Macbook Air (mid of 2012 13 INCHES) and a (Late 2011 MacBook pro) and a Mid 2012 Macbook pro (main computer) I plugged on all computers and it seemed to not work it has collapsed a week ago from work and hasn't worked since can you please get some food thank you rear

    Hello morganscott2001,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

If I understand your post you have a Belkin Adapter Mini DisplayPort to HDMI is not working through any of your Mac.  Given that this is happening with several devices, then it is safe to say that there is probably a problem with the cable itself.  You can see similar cables we offer in the Apple Online Store in the link below:

    Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter

    Have a good.

  • Very slow Macbook Pro 13 inch Mid 2012

Hello world! I'm not savvy at all, so my apologies if something is not clear in my message below.

    Data sheet:

    MacBook Pro 13 inch (mid-2012)

    OS X Yosemite: Version 10.10.5

Processor: Intel Core i5 2.5 GHz

    Memory: 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Storage: 139.3/499.25 GB in use; 359,95 GB free

For the last two weeks, my Macbook Pro 13 inch (mid-2012) has been extremely slow. The colorful beachball (aka the wheel of death) often shows up, even when I'm just trying to type something, such as now (I'll have to type really slowly, so it can track). This slowness came very suddenly.

I tried resetting SMC/NVRAM, repair disk permissions, then by restarting in safe mode, but the problem persists (I also tried to upgrade to El Capitan, but was met with a loop of reboot delicious and recovered my time machine backup again to the recovery mode). I think I can also try to reindex spotlight, but I may or may not succeed.

I was not able to create a Time Machine backup successfully for the last month, because it gets stuck on "preparing for backup...". "(not sure if this could be related). I also wanted to point out that Dropbox is one of my startup items, but I got it for centuries, and it has never been my Macbook it ridiculously slow. Before this slowness, I would leave it and my Macbook would be back up to speed. I also tried to remove the list of startup items and slowness persists even after rebooting.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have seen many people post 'EtreCheck' reports, so here are mine (sorry if I got any irrelevant information - I don't know what all this means):

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is particularly bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.

These must be run as administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.

Run the Console application in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

The title of the Console window should be all Messages. If it isn't, select

SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ all Messages

in the list of logs on the left. If you don't see this list, select

List of newspapers seen ▹ display

in the menu at the top of the screen bar.

Each message in the journal begins with the date and time when it was entered. Highlight date back to the time you noted above.

Select the messages entered since then until the end of the episode, or until they begin to repeat, whichever comes first.

Copy messages to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command + V.

The journal contains a large amount of information, almost all this is useless to solve any particular problem. When you post a journal excerpt, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Please don't dump blindly thousands of lines in the journal in this discussion.

Please do not post screenshots of log messages - text poster.

Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

When you post the journal excerpt, an error message may appear on the web page: "you include content in your post that is not allowed", or "the message contains invalid characters." It's a bug in the forum software. Thanks for posting the text on Pastebin, then post here a link to the page you created.

  • MacBook pro 13 inch mid-2012 with the help of el capitan

is there anyone with a macbook pro 13 inch mid 2012 that the use of el capitan?

I want to improve my macbook to mavericks in el capitan, but my friend told me not to do. Because she just update its macbook (same model with mine) and it becomes slower than before (yosemite).

Is there anyone with the same problem? Or maybe another problem after upgrade to el capitan?

It works perfectly with EC is that you have enough memory. I say that at least 8 GB is necessary. 4 GB is very marginal.

  • MacBook pro retina display (mid-2012) goes black

All by using the computer to randomly screen goes completely black.  After a few attempts at tapping trackpad or a bite or two, screen turns on but then log on to the computer. Program I was running is still there and continues on. It is very random and I fear that a logic board or the video card component may be out.  MacBook Pro retina display mid-2012, 16 GB 1600 mHz DDR3 RAM, graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 1024Mo of 650M;  2.6 i7 running OS 10.11.2

    Hi James,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple! I'm sorry to hear that you are having these problems with your MacBook Pro. I'm a bit ambiguous on the screen exactly who you see when you log in, but according to your description it looks that your computer may be involuntarily go to sleep. If this is the case, you can find the troubleshooting steps in the following article useful:

If your Mac does not sleep or wake up when expected - Apple supports

As mentioned in this article, another possibility on laptops like the MacBook Pro is that the screen closed sensor may be triggered unintentionally. There is a small magnetic sensor in portable computers and sometimes, being close to things like briefcases magnetic closure or magnetic jewelry can cause him to think that the display was closed, which then puts the machine in a locked sleep state. If possible, you can test the issue on an office open without any potential source of interference.

  • Question about webcams with Macbook Pro 13-inch, mid 2010

Bear with me as I am the most fundamental basic Mac users. I am currently using a MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid 2010) with OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 I don't use Skype or FaceTime or something like that. Recently, I joined an online course in which they said I need a webcam, headset and microphone so that I can communicate with my instructor and discussions in class.

I have really no idea what hardware inside is on my laptop. Is the built in camera something that could be used for this purpose? Or do I need to buy these separately three elements to make this work? And if yes, are you easy to install and can anyone recommend something good, but also low-cost as possible.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Your built in FaceTime, camera is sufficient. This is the idea. outdoor cameras are mostly a thing of the past. If the internal webcam is broken, an external is always an option repair vs.

You may need their proprietary software to connect to their course however

  • A Magsafe 85w power adapter would be detrimental to my MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid 2010)

    Hi all!

    I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid 2010, 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo).

Well, after years of abuse, the thinner rope (which connects to the Macbook) began to tear. I tried to drag an above shrink wrap to fix and make it last a little longer, but now I find myself stirring the rope around so he can start loading.

in any case, I found a company after-market on Amazon called Supsun making (link below) and recently purchased a. He said that going to work with my Macbook, but I think not even check what power mine use and after he woke up, I found out mine originally a 60w.

Will this hurt Magsafe Supsun 85w power adapter my mid 2010 13-inch Macbook in anyway?

I thank you for all your comments!

I, personally, look at the price difference and ask myself I'd be sad if I saved money and things did not work well.
