Mail vs Outlook: Original Message is included as an attachment w / HTML Sig

Hey all,.

I am looking for help to identify a problem that is either related to Apple Mail or Microsoft Outlook (or both), in which colleagues using Outlook appear to not receive the original message of my response as an attachment HTML emails (see attached photo for reference).

Mail users are able to view the complete message (my response with the original post below); However, in the last two weeks or so, Outlook users are beginning to be confused (especially when they do not bother to look at the attachment). I had a single tap me on the shoulder to give me some advice of e-mail etiquette.

I think that this could be linked to the HTML signature I created, you will notice that my signature is also not included in my reply (but is instead included in the HTML attachment).

I place the signature about six months ago, and everything was fine, so I don't know what is different now.

Anyone experience something like this and have a potential solution?

    Hello TImG9,

Thank you for being part of the community of Apple!

As I understand it, while using Apple Mail, after you reply to a message, the original message is more visible and your answer is displayed in the Inbox.  I know how much we all count on our email so it is important that it works the way we expect.

Before doing anything, the first thing I would do is all that is on the backup computer. Nothing that I will propose should result in no data loss, but it's always a good idea to have a backup.  Your computer has software called Time Machine.  It is a fantastic software for backing up your computer.  Information on how to use Time Machine is available here:

Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac.

Then go through the steps given here:

You have apparent dbx file corruption. A common problem.

Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox and then create new folders to send and sent items box after having moved the messages you want to save to a local folder that you create.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the DBX files for the items in the Outbox and sent and delete them.  New ones will be created automatically when you open OE.

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

    General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

  • In the incoming response, formatting of original message is destroyed - original message is not readable. How do I stop this?

In Tbird 31.4.0, I find that replies to the messages I've sent are legible and implemented form properly, but my original (in response) message has developed gaping spaces between words. It's even worse that the message string gets longer. The information contained in this original message is lost. It is a real problem for me. How can I fix? Thank you.

It isn't a snark that it is according to me, it is a pertinent question.
It lets you fine, they press on answer, and it is mangled... change that happens at the other end.
So why is he going? My Thunderbird mail comes back fine. Logically I seek something different is done at the other end.
I suggest that you ask the Seraph and you get back all huffy.

When you post a letter by mail and a recipient sends grated back you do not start the process of finding what spent looking around your office, you go to where the problem occurred.

The causes may be many, information pasted from Microsoft office products can lead to strange results and would be one of my first assumptions about a cause. Information through a few anti anti-virus programs can end up scrambled. Corrupt fonts can see something go south.

So ask the people at the other end in what they do, again, and maybe with what.

What your seeing is not something I've never seen described here... If you are looking for something quite unique to your environment.

When you send yourself and answer it yourself do you see it?
Is it only people of a certain company? or domain. Maybe they use a tool anti spam than messes upward.

    Hi there imit57,

Thanks for stopping by the communities Support from Apple! As I understand it, you are eager to know if there is a way forward a single message in a thread of e-mail message without including the previous messages. I will be happy to provide you with some information to answer your question.

This article provides an overview on the answer, before and redirect options in the Mail on your Mac app:

(Yosemite) mail: Reply to, forward or redirect messages

This section discusses shipping more precisely:

Respond to forward messages or redirect a message that you receive in error to another person. If the attachments contained original message, you can decide to include.

    Reply to or forward messages

    1. Select a message in the message list.

To include only part of the original message in your reply, select the text you want to include.

If you select the message at the top of the page during a conversation, all messages in the conversation are selected.

    2. Move the pointer on the header of the message, and then click one of the following buttons:

      • Response to meet just the sender.

      • Reply to all to reply to the sender and other recipients.

      • Front to choose the new recipients.

    3. Add your text.

If you original message, vertical bars (called bars of citation) may appear next to him.

You can make your text appear in the form of quotes:

      • Add quote bars to your text: choose Format > quote level > increase or Format > quote level > decrease. This will also change the quote level at which the selected text.

      • Paste the text of the quoted text: choose Edition > paste as quotation.

    4. If the attachments contained original message, decide to include:

      • Include attachments in a response: click on the button to fixation include in the toolbar of the message window, or choose the command Edition > spare part > include original attachments in response.

      • Exclude attachments an answer: click the exclude attachment on the message window toolbar, or choose Message > remove attachments.

  • When you are ready, click on the Send button .

  • If you still prefer to omit the original message in your reply, choose Mail > Preferences, click on writing, then uncheck the "Quote the text of the original message."

If the email you trying to convey was sent later in the message thread, you can highlight other answers and click 'remove' to remove previous messages.

IE has nothing to do with OE in this regard. If the problem is intermittent, I suspect a problem with your modem, router or ISP. Reset the modem and the router, if you use one, and if that doesn't help, get help from Onetel on line and have them check the signal of your modem.
