Maintenance of Windows XP

Even if Windows Vista, 7 and 8 have long been released, I am still using Windows XP for home usage, because it is easy to use and easy to navigate and not having any problems with it.

That being said:

1. in case the disk cleanup and Disk Defragmenter tools run as daily, monthly or not necessary to run preventive maintenance?
2 is it still necessary to download and install the update to the malware (890830 KB) removal tool and any other required updates via Windows Update XP on the 2nd Tuesday of each month even if XP is no longer supported?
3 is it still necessary firewall Windows is activated, to schedule a daily virus scan using my AVG Free Edition and run an Anti-Malware tool once a month in preventive maintenance?
Please answer each question separately.
Very much appreciated.

"Necessary" is too strong a Word. It is recommended because it decreases
your risk. But no, it is not necessary.

Can any damage result from cleaning running and Defrag every day or I it's just useless?

Just useless.

I just got the phone is off "Windows OS computer maintenance required", I went through the senario execution because I apparently files may contain a virus.  I got a number to call back and ask for Henry 02 80060075 apparently in Sydney.  I remembered and has a call center responded in the form of windows.  After going through several id checks which they knew my CLSID number but one of them that I take now is the same number for many people.  In any case I tell them I work for a COMPUTER company and would take my computer to work with them check.  The guy said that he did not believe I worked for a COMPUTER company, because I did not understand what they are trying to help me for a very small cost of AUD $110.  After a long debate and tell him, I thought it was a scam I hung up.

  • Maintenance of Windows 8 and will not sleep

My lenove h505s which is 3 months old has installed windows 8.  Everything has been fine up until about 2 weeks ago it started doing maintenance and this interview will not end.  This seems to be produced at the same time that the computer will not sleep.

The screen turns off after 10 minutes, but the computer does not turn off and should be 25 minutes.

I'm sure that the maintenance is now awake and even if you stop the interview, I don't know that because an interview is necessary, stop the sleep of PC.

I'm afraid this is going to damage that the fan runs all the time when not in service.

    Any advice would be appreciated

  • Maintenance in windows 8 always gets delayed

    Hello

I have recently upgraded to windows 8 pro and very looking forward to the feature of automatic maintenance. Interview starts, but seems to be never complete I always get the message than automatic maintenance got delayed even if I leave the laptop (HP Envy) on without interaction and powers set high so no shutdown occurs. Any ideas what maintenance task want to run and did not complete?

Advice and support are much appreciated.

    Best wishes

    Joachim

Launch the task manually to resolve it.

-With an administrator account, open Task Scheduler.

-Go to the task: Microsoft-> Windows-> TaskScheduler-> regular maintenance.

    -Right click-> properties.

-Configuration-> allows you to run the task manually (don't know the English label, is 1). If you click on I accept, the operation fails, you need to change anything else.

-Conditions-> start task only... inactivity-> and set it to 1 minute. By default is 0, and it is an incorrect configuration of a task. Click on accept.

    -Right click-> Run.

I don't know why, if you use the activity center to run it manually, the message "Delayed" is not off, but if you run manually from the Task Scheduler, it does.

"Rejected" is normal, you must allow "turn on computer" for regular maintenance and doing all the work manually. But really, you must configure this (turning on computer) in the activity center and leave the "Maintenance Configurator" task (you can only see it with an administrator account) to do all the work. It has different behaviors depending on the computer, that is in my desktop computer, it configures the task of regular Maintenance to turn on the computer, while in my laptop it configures Idle enabled maintenance and does not define the 'tour on computer' on the task of regular Maintenance, to make it work (not a regular maintenance, but maintenance Idle runs the same process) when I close sesion and let the computer turns off after 30 minutes through the management of feeding.

I have "refused" on my laptop because it does not really the maintenance tasks (as it is turned off), but it runs the maintenance through the Maintenance of Idle Task.

So do what I say before (the regular Maintenace manually run) then the 'delayed' message going off and then leave the task of Maintenance configurator to do the job. I did this and not have seen the message "delayed" once again, I guess that's a rare case.

N ° if you want to set up a dual boot Windows 7 and Windows 8, you will need to buy a full Windows 8 installation, not an upgrade.

  • Can you give me advice on the maintenance of windows 7 please?

I have reset my desktop computer windows 7 64 bit to factory settings, but for the first time in 5 years I did not put any software melody in it. in the past, I got tuneup utilities, avg pc tune up, boostspeed, pc tools and norton clean (not all at the same time over the years lol). Anyway, I have been using since restored factory 3 days ago is the cleaning of windows disk 7, defragmentation and basic ccleaner (with no boxes checked only the value default ones). of course, when I uninstalled the * software preload I deleted the registry entries manually as I always do and found the left on the software manually using the Sub tools all research. After much searching around google, the reason for which I have not installed a tune up software is because they have all said that they have done more damage that good which I now believe it is true because my pc is running much better without it. BUT it is slow light, but what I'm asking, it is, is what I'm using enough or there at - it all the other tips you can give? Thank you very much

As you've found third tune up utilities can and are causing problems.

Do not use the module registry CCleaner

Theres no point in removing reg entries, it does nothing for the performance

Disk Cleanup and defrag you just use

  • Automatic maintenance cannot be stopped on Windows 8-64 bit OS

Automatic maintenance works for the last two months. When I try to stop the automatic maintenance in the center of the action, he gives no answer.

    Hi Adam,.

If you are logged in using an administrator account?

Windows 8 automatically performs a number of maintenance tasks for you, including the diagnoses of the intelligent system, to check if updates are available for your software and perform security scans. Auto maintenance done too many functions, switch it off completely is not advisable.

Automatic Maintenance runs normally at a time when the computer is idle. When it detects that the computer is used both in the demand for auto maintenance, then it does not start automatically, and instead, he waits for the next time when the computer is idle.

Apparently, it is not possible to turn it off completely. You could disable at least starting to wake your computer.

You can view the MSDN blog to change the settings for Maintenance and to get more information about the automatic Maintenance on Windows 8:

  • How to manually run Windows maintenance?

Windows 8 comes with Windows Defender, which I think is great. However, Windows maintenance is part of Windows Defender and is running "when [my] computer is inactive." I would like to manually run Windows Maintenance for a number of reasons, namely:

    1. my computer is almost never idle, I always turn off when I can.
    2. I am a gamer, and my PC is almost totally for the games. Because of paragraph 1, Windows Maintenance eventually run while I'm in the game, if I can get a drop decent in the FPS for about an hour.
    3. Windows update runs when Windows maintenance done, automatically install important updates. However, many 'important' updates are not important at all, as Intel Smart Connect Technology (Bloatware) IE10 updates (my default browser is Chrome). I need to choose what updates I want to install.
As you can see, it is not really beneficial for the maintenance of Windows run on a schedule for me, but I don't want to turn it off completely, because of the tasks of the system, it performs, which are very helpful. Could someone please tell me if it is possible to run Windows Maintenance manually and if so, how? If it is not possible, it is possible to disable the automatic updates, or other characteristics, the interview of Windows is running and if so, how?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

I suggest to run Windows Defender and play your games manually.

. Are what maintenance Windows you referring? Are you referring to the Maintenance of the system?

If you are referring to the Maintenance of the system, then follow the steps to run the troubleshooting of system maintenance utility:

    a. simultaneously press keys Windows symbol + W , type of system maintenance in the "search" tab and press enter.

    b. follow the onscreen instructions.

You can choose how the windows updates to be installed on your computer by following the steps:

    a. press the keys Windows + C on your keyboard and click on settings, click change PC settings.

    b. click Update & recovery; Click Choose how to install the updates.

    c. Select the Option as updates but let me choose whether to download and install them.

  • Firefox refuses to stop the blocking of pop-up windows - up, even with added exceptions and blocker completely disabled.

I work in a facility that uses a corporate intranet to access our database. The database uses windows pop up widely important information. Problem is that Firefox absolutely will NOT stop block popup windows no matter what I try. At first I added our database server to the list of exceptions. It worked for a while, but soon after resumption of the important pop-up blocking. I then completely disabled the blocking of popup windows (options > > content > > unchecked "block popup windows"). It did not work until I closed and reopened Firefox. A week later (today!), Firefox takes over again blocking the pop-up windows. I double checked my settings to confirm that Firefox still claims to have the popup blocker off.
At this point, I am at a loss on how to proceed. I looked at other issues similar and my frustration (and certainly their even more), individuals requesting repeatedly told them to turn off the blocker of popups even after explaining that they already have. Help would be very appreciated.
