  I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it works for you.

  Method 1:

  Run the Microsoft Safety Scanner and check if there is any threat of viruses found.

If person don't you know is an older drive, you can borrow for a few minutes, you will need, you will need to either buy a copy full XP or take the unit to a local computer professional to do the XP installation for you.
