I try to install Visual Studio 2012 but I can't because there is an error:

The Windows program compatibility mode. Turn it off and then try to install again.

But I don't know how I turned it off.

  • Microsoft had a band, probably not my music a little... In any case, it is the second shortcut of Microsoft which is supposed to take me to the "Windows 7 Compatibility Center.

I won't be here but Microsoft seems very happy sending me on the prosecution of the wild goose, and here I landed! I didn't even know that Microsoft had a band, probably not my music a little... In any case, it is the second shortcut of Microsoft which is supposed to take me to the "Windows 7 Compatibility Center. The first, in the Windows help sent me to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/support#1TC=windows-7. Not a mention of the word "compatibility" on the page anywhere. Then, enter 'compatibility' in the search for support and here is the result, looks promising. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/search/result.aspx?q=compatibility. But no, I click on the first result that says Microsoft compatibility Center. Even what seems to be the correct web address, microsoft.com /compatibility and it takes me here http://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-band/en-us/support/hardware/microsoft-band-system-requirements. I give up!

    Hi André,.

    Please keep us updated.

Unfortunately, the center of compatibility Windows has actually retired. To find out if any program that works with Windows 10 or not, you can check with the developer to program on the compatibility of its operating system. In addition, when you migrate to Windows 10 from a previous version of Windows, you are informed about programs that may not work with Windows 10. However, you can try to install these programs in compatibility mode and check.

Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

  • Problems installing of printer in the Windows XP compatibility box

I am trying to use my printer Canon MX870 Windows XP compatibility mode. In the compatibility window is my computer has no printer, and apparently no USB ports don't either.

When I try to print from a program that is running in compatibility mode, I get an error box that says: no printer driver is installed.

I found an MS article that says I should choose the Windows XP desktop tools > parameters command and check the printer in the menu of the integration features. I tried and found that printer is already checked.

I tried to install a separate printer driver compatibility window and had no luck there either. The "Add a printer" Wizard has informed me that there is no plug-and-play printer connected to the computer. When I tried to install the printer manually, I found that none of my USB ports have been listed as locations.

My computer has eight USB ports, an RS-232 port and a parallel port. The Wizard indicates that it is three parallel ports, 4 serial ports and seven ports 'TS' appointed TS001, TS002, etc., of which the last is "inactive".

I don't know how to make the link between these imaginary ports of Windows XP for real hardware in my computer. (If I did, I would still need to know which one to use. I know, but Windows is supposed to automatically allocate the names of devices on the USB ports that is appropriate, in view of these problems, I am not prepared to assume that it will be).

How can I handle this? All this seems to be a mess.

    Hello

To work around the problem, try the following steps if you have this driver on the XP Mode desktop file.

    a. click Start, click Control Panel , and search for printers , and then double-click Printers.
    b. now, click Add Printer.
    c. Select Add a local printer and click create a new port.
    d. Select Local Port and click Next.
    e. type in "[\\computer name\printer name]"(sans les guillemets) for the Port name and click OK. ""
    f. follow the instructions to complete the installation. During the installation, when you are prompted to choose a good driver; Click the "disk".
    g. navigate to the driver file you have on the desktop XP mode, then click OK. Now, check if the printer is correctly installed.

You can even provide the driver through a disk file if you do not have internet access to download the file via the XP mode.

    Hello.

I've seen an Acer apspire laptop come with Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit.

Recently, my laptop found having problem.

I intend to buy a desk, but no Windows operating system inside.

Can I transfer my Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit, which I copied computer Acer laptop (using 3 recovery disk) in this new desktop CPU can work and at the same time it contravenes to the issuance of software license?

Thanks for your response in advance.

I hope that a moderator will come along and move this question in the Windows 7 forum (you asked for it in the XP forum).

To answer the question in any case, the answer is that what you want is legally impossible (oem licenses are tied to the original computer and AFAIK all Acer licenses are oem). She is also almost certainly impossible technically too (due to physical differences).

  • Disable the window "program does not.

I have a problem for Windows 7 running a previous custom program.  I have a touch screen program that is running in a public space.  When the user quickly touch the screen more quickly that the program can meet a "x program has stopped responding" window opens. The user is then given the option to wait (good choice) or end of program (bad choice).  Is there a way to disable this popup, disable the option "end of program" or automatically choose the option 'wait '?

    Thank you!

If she's not here, he's just going with the default value of 5 seconds.  You can create this value and set it to your liking.  Right click on a box blank and choose "new / string value.  Call it as 'HungAppTimeout '.  Double-click it, and then set it to the length you prefer.  It is in milliseconds, so if you want to wait 30 seconds before considering an application to be hung, set to 30000.

The Magentic program does not work with newer versions of windows

    Hello danielbrauer,

The magnetic site says the requirements are for Windows XP or higher. However, it is not on the Windows Vista or the Windows 7 Compatibility Center.

You can try the following to see if it will help with compatibility. If the program is not compatible, then you try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.
    Use the following steps:
    (1) right click on the program
    2) click Properties
    3) click on the Compatibility tab
    (4) select run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows Vista or other operating system, the program has been run successfully.

Check out the link here: make sure to run older programs in this version of Windows
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows

If this does not help, you can contact the magnet to see if they have an updated version.

    Sincerely,

    Marilyn

  • I'm trying to run a game in windows 95 compatibility mode, but the compatibility under Properties tab disappeared.

I am running windows 7 Professional. It is not the version of upgrade.

    Hi Tippo_89,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

    (1) have you been able to use the compatibility feature earlier?

Try the steps below and see if you can run the program.

To run the troubleshooting program compatibility Troubleshooter

    (1) open the resolution of the problems of compatibility of programs by clicking the Start button, then Control Panel. In the search box, type troubleshooting, and then click Troubleshooting. Under programs, click on run programs for previous versions of Windows.

    (2) follow the instructions contained in the resolution of the problems.

If you are unable to install a program, insert the installation disc for the program and, using the Troubleshoot utility, navigate to the program setup file, usually called Setup.exe, Install.exe, or something similar. This utility is not designed to work on programs that have an .msi file name extension.

Access the link below for more information on the steps below.

  • Is it legal to use any Windows programs under Linux using Wine as long as the programs are free initially, like Windows Live products?

    original title: is it legal?

I read on Internet that Linux users can download and run official Windows software on their computer using a program called wine.
If the Windows program they want to run is something that is free, is Live Photo Gallery or Windows Live Movie Maker legal to use with the demand for wine?
    Thanks for your time!

Yes, perfectly legal, if it wasn't, I don't know that Microsoft would have to stop them. If you spent $500, you are free to install it on the operating system of your choice, although versions recent Office 2010 and 2007 version and software such as Windows Live Essentials won't probably wine.
